Narnia Characters That Could Be Expanded On

@jasmine_tarkheena I suppose someone like Drinian or Peridan would be a good option for expansion then... they don't have a huge place in the story but I do think there's room for their backstories. Maybe give Driniaan a backstory about being kidnapped by pirates as a boy, which could serve as an explanation for his knowledge of certain islands, or just sailing in general.

Interesting thoughts. I'm not sure the one about Drinian being given a backstory about being kidnapped by pirates. That might be stretching it. Though it would probably be idea to see Drinian's close friendship with Caspian develop... I'm sure he had become Caspian's confidant. It would also be crucial where Drinian realizes that Rilian disappeared, that keeping Rilian's secret was a mistake, and tells Caspian. As Caspian gets ready to kill Drinian, Caspian realizes that he had already lost his wife and son, and didn't want to risk losing his friend. So it could be a way to have Caspian and Drinian's close friendship develop.

Just a gentle reminder to everyone regarding the forum rule about quoting others, especially if it's from the previous post. 🙂

7.) When quoting other members, only quote the relevant sentence or two of their post. Do not include the whole post over again as this makes for long page loads.

Carry on, fair members! Cool

@glimglum Noted! We will sure have fun having this discussion! Smile

So getting back on topic... even if the minor characters aren't given a backstory (for time sake, that is), they could be expanded to some extent.

@jasmine_tarkheena in fact, the way a minor character is shown on screen (costume, hair, makeup, voice, size,  etc), will expand him or her.

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

I think that I would not mind see an expanding on Sarah the maid in the Magician's Nephew. I think it might be fun to see some of the story from her point of view.

Also, I could see them expanding on Jadis' sister. Although, this would probably depend on whether Magician's Nephew was a tv series or a movie, but, I guess they could split Magician's Nephew into multiple movies.

They could split Magician's Nephew into two movies and put in a lot of Charn backstory.

@eustace Interesting thoughts, though I'm not so sure about Jadis's sister. Perhaps in a flash back as Jadis is telling of the final battle of Charn, a close up of Jadis and her sister facing one another, and her sister says "Victory" and Jadis says, "Yes but not yours."

@eustace I wouldn't like to see it as two movies; it would be too tempting to add in battles and unnecessary special effects.

@jasmine_tarkheena that sort of small flashback is really good, instead of trying to show an epic battle (which is not part of the main storyline - it's only Jadis's background).

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

@coracle Right. A big epic battle scene wouldn’t convert well in MN anyways. So just having that somewhat small flash book would be idea.

I'd like to see what happened to Doctor Cornelius after the conclusion of Prince Caspian's events. He's mentioned once in VDT in passing, but otherwise, nothing. He has to be the most surprising character not to be mentioned in LB, though there's no way he doesn't make it to the new Narnia, of course. My guess is his lack of mention in SC suggests he didn't live that much longer, but surely at least something more could be said.

There's an idea. I would think that Dr. Cornelius was not only a tutor for Caspian X but Caspian may have looked up to him as a father figure.
