I guess I haven't seen this thread before - oops! Anyway - just wanted to say that Will did an amazing job as Eustace, his character was just perfect, very realistic and true to the book. There's actually one thing I really liked - in the book, Eustace seems to be the same level of nastiness the entire time before the dragoning, while in the movie, they showed him softening a little bit before hand, which seemed more realistic. Example: After the fight with Reepicheep, he almost smiles at him.
Any thoughts on that?

hmmm... I do think he changed much faster than he did in the book. Will Poulter has done a WONDERFUL job of playing such a hard character I thought the reason they had him change somewhat early because he was in his dragon form most of the movie...but that is just my thoughts

On the VDT commentary Michael Apted says that that early softening (that smile) was Mark Johnson's idea. Interesting. I liked it because it showed Eustace wasn't entirely bad and had potential for good.

Yeah, I agree, stateofgreen - after being in Narnia for that long, anyone (well, almost anyone) would start to soften a little bit. It's just more natural.
And he did a great job keeping his character while softening.

The first time I saw that little grin, I was like "What?! What are they trying to do here?!" But after I had watched the movie and saw what he said after the softening moment, I relaxed, and I now like it ok. Acting-wise, I thought Will Poulter did a great job doing Eustace when he wasn't being as mean or actually being nice. That's the one of the main reasons I want to see him back in SC.
We only saw so little of him after the undragoning, so we weren't as exposed to how he had changed as much as we had in the book. In SC, although he still had relaspes, Eustace was much nicer then he had been before. This aspect was cool, because I've always imagined that if they would adapt it, they'd show how Jill felt about the new Eustace, and how nervous Eustace was about not being as bad as he had once been.
Will, being a nice person and a great actor, will easily be able to pull this off. I cannot wait to see how this area of the film, and get more glimpses of the improved Eustace.
Thats funny that will poulter kept saying sorry on his mix ups and caused the cast to do pushupus and said sorry again. Saw it on an interview.

Actually it sounds like the CAST doing practice with him had to do 10 pushups, so they were at the mercy of whether he said 'sorry'. Funny.

LOL! Well at least by the end of that you'd be pretty muscular and the sword fighting may improve?
