Thanks. I used a freeware product called ImageMagick.
I did it the hard way using the command-line version which is more programmer oriented. There are user interface versions as well but I am not as familar with them. 
So for the above image I just created a .gif image file using command-line ImageMagick and uploaded it to ImageShack and then copied the link here. I did have to study the Drawing section. That's all there was to it.

Thank you for the kind greetings. I have now had my usual two days of birthday but will have Saturday as well to spend time with family members.
