Narnia Original Art

Son Of Aslan

I wanted to share these original oil paintings that I commissioned a friend of mine to paint who is a professional artist and a big fan of Narnia. He primarily paints Florida landscapes, but I wanted to see if he would be interested in taking a crack at some Narnia scenes. He accepted! It was such a fun process to read back through the scenes together and try to squeeze as many details into the painting from the books and also imagine things that Lewis did not describe. I hope you all enjoy. If you are interested in his work, you can find him at TimFormanArt.com or on Instagram.

Beautiful!

I love that we can see Eustace’s previous attempts to ‘undress’ himself on the ground and the water is clearly bubbling too! Great job!

Is the cloud formation on the left in the 2nd image a hint to the cat’s identity?

@davidd

Indeed it is. I thought it fit well into the theme of The Horse and His Boy, even though it is not in the book. It was a way to visualize that Aslan was always watching over Shasta, even when he didn't realize it.

It is always interesting to see how artists perceive Narnia. I think the paintings are very close to what C. S. Lewis had in mind, and if Lewis were living today he would have liked them very much. 🙂

These Images are so well done! It really captures some important things in the books.

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
Exodus 3:14
