Actually, thinking about this further, Emma Mackey was excited about working with Meryl Streep, but the only real interaction between the two in the book is that the Jadis throws an iron bar from the lamppost at Aslan’s head while Aslan sings. How much “working together” would this really involve? I wonder what it could all mean?
It could mean that Meryl Streep is actually playing Aunt Letty, in which case she DOES get a proper interaction with Jadis. If the plot of the film is going to be anything like the plot of the original book, that is, which is doubtful.
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
The order of the list says quite a lot @impending-doom,
- David McKenna
- Beatrice Campbell
- Emma Mackey
- Carey Mulligan
- Ciarán Hinds
- Daniel Craig
- Meryl Streep
- Kobna Holdbrook-Smith
- Denise Gough
- Susan Wokoma
Why would Ciaran Hinds have higher billing than Daniel Craig if Daniel was the Magician? Why would Kobna have higher billing than Denise if Denise is Aunt Letty and Kobna is Frank? Something isn’t adding up
let’s say Meryl is Aslan(which I doubt), why is Ciaran Hinds , two slots ahead of her on the list?
@oathkeeper I personally believe that Ciaran Hinds is voicing Aslan, and that Meryl Streep is Aunt Letty, as @Courtenay suggested above. I also think that Denise Gough is playing one of Digory's teachers, which would explain the lower listing.
@lions-mane-minotaur I think Denise would be playing a guardian/foster mom/governess to the Polly Plummer sisters, alluding to a strict or lonely life for Polly, but I do wish the Netflix team could publicly assign the roles, it would boost morale, far greater than the expensive gifts they shared with the big Narnia outlets. And that act would be free, a simple act of secretly allowing the actors to simply mention the character they are playing while on the press run, like Charlize Theron did with calypso (on New York Times Interview podcast), when everyone thought she was Cersei.
