I know most of the discussion has been on whether Meryl will voice Aslan, and some others have suggested she'd be better for Aunt Letty (which I agree with), but what other options might exist? Bear in mind that Greta seems to be adding in a lot of material that isn't from the book.
Here is one idea i had:
* Meryl plays Jadis's mother in flashbacks showing the rivalry between Jadis and her sister. Perhaps the mother warns Jadis and, later, when she encounters Aslan, she hears her mother's voice, not what he is saying. (I came up with this idea when trying to get my head around the fact that Meryl was in discussion to voice Aslan).
Another option could be she plays Polly's mother (on face value, she would appear too old, but it does appear Polly's family are going to play some part in the film).
Or, it might just be a cameo, as a shop-keeper when Jadis goes on her London rampage -- something which, thankfully, we know is going to feature in the film.
I think the best bet on a different role for Meryl Streep would be Mrs Lefay - having a high profile cameo for such a mysterious and enigmatic character would seem to capture the intrigue rather well.
Even if Streep as Aslan looks like a 90% lock at this point, I'd still say it could work well to have her play both LeFay and Aslan, in order to imply some sort of thematic or literal connection between the two (which seems plausible from the book).
It doesn't necessarily need to be implied that they are the same person (Aslan does take on multiple forms in Narnia - a lamb, an albatross, etc) but just vaguely that there is a thematic parallel that the audience is supposed to be subtly clued into.
Meryl could play any number of voices for different characters in Narnia (I would not be against a gender-swapped fledge, far less important than Aslan), there are so many talking animals. Even, if she is only lending her voice to a character, she could also have a cameo - for instance as one of the maids, pedestrians who reacts when Jadis is rampaging through London.
The term is over: the holidays have begun.
The dream is ended: this is the morning

Really, I'll be so relieved if she's NOT doing the voice of Aslan (and a male actor is) that I don't really mind what other role she might take. Just so long as she doesn't attempt an Aussie accent with it, ever again. ("THE DINGO TOOK MY BAAYBEE!!"

"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."

In my opinion she is definitely playing Aunt Letty. She is described in the book as "a tough old girl," which seems fitting for Meryl Streep, and considering that she and Uncle Andrew had been living together (presumably for a while) before Digory and his mother moved in, it makes sense that they would be a similar age. And given the way Aunt Letty tries to keep Uncle Andrew in line, it makes sense for her to be the oldest sibling. I also think that Denise Gough is probably playing a school teacher of some sort, obviously a mean one given her comments on her character.

If she's playing Aslan, and she attempts an Aussie accent with it...then we're truly living in the darkest timeline.

I was thinking that's the most likely character for her too. We know from the book that Uncle Andrew is over 60, and it does make sense that Letty is the oldest sibling.
(Now I'm wondering, if Meryl does play Aunt Letty, whether she'll again channel her inner Margaret Thatcher, as she did so uncannily convincingly in The Iron Lady. That would be scary indeed.

Too right, mate (as those of us with genuine Aussie accents say).

The Deadline article is really taking the Meryl news with a degree of certainty that has now almost convinced me, she is playing/voicing Aslan

In addition, Greta conducted Meryl’s interview with Anna for Vogue

@oathkeeper All very nice, but it tells us nothing! Except perhaps that Meryl has a strong presence. I have nothing but admiration for her - in the right role.
Also love to know that she knits in her trailer. Such a good way to use time. (There was a time in my life when I took knitting to community theatre rehearsals, and I'd remember which show I had knitted a particular jersey or cardigan in!)
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
