I need to catch up on Revolution. It comes on at a very unfriendly time, late at night before a work night. I enjoy it, but it is, as you say, Science-Lite. ;)) Ya' know, I might go watch it tonight!

Last year, after the Avengers came out, I decided to check out the TV shows of Joss Whedon. I saw Firefly, Serenity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel on Netflix. I enjoyed them all.

I'm currently unsure what to do with television now that Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead (my two favorite shows that are currently running) have both finished their third seasons and I have to wait till season 4 for both shows.

Uh-oh, a television discussion thread. I could be here for hours. ;) I fully admit that I haven't read all 77 pages before this, so hopefully I'm not re-treading anything!

I suppose I should start off with the shows that are still on the air that I'm watching, at least the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Up until it got pulled off the air, Young Justice was my favorite show on TV (and I enjoyed its sister show, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, though I still haven't watched the last couple of episodes). However, since it has, sadly, been cancelled and replaced already, my current favorite show is Person of Interest. :D :) And sadly, it's probably the only show (of the shows I love) that's still on the air that I'm caught up with! XD It helps that I converted my mom and, if I forgot to watch it, she was sure to remind me! ;)

There are some other shows I'm following, though school has made it difficult for me to stay caught up. :P I got about half-way through season 1 of Arrow before I started getting scheduled for work every Wednesday night, and I haven't quite caught up yet. :P My brother and I both enjoyed most of it, but we both also need to get caught up. We also watch Phineas and Ferb together; that one, I'm not even sure how many new episodes have come out since the last time we were able to watch them together. :P I've seen both Doctor Who and Downton Abbey, but I'm very far behind on both (still in season 2 of DA and I haven't even finished watching Martha's season for DW XD). I'm sure there are a few more that I could talk about, but I don't want this post to be pages long. :P :)

It's not on the air anymore, but my favorite TV show that I've ever watched would be Avatar: The Last Airbender, just barely beating out Young Justice and Person of Interest. I imagine it's come up already so I won't go into details, but I love it. :D I think Legend of Korra is pretty good, too (there was one episode which I literally could not stop thinking about almost all week until the next episode came out XD), though I thought the ending was weak for a variety of reasons. I think they're reasons that could very easily be fixed next season, and given the team, I'm fully expecting them to do well. :)

I noticed a discussion of Merlin recently. I haven't seen any of it yet, but it's on my list of shows to try... though some of the comments outside of the spoilers are making me wonder. :P So, I'm curious--for those of you who have seen it, would you recommend Merlin? I only have a passing knowledge of Arthurian lore (though I find it interesting), and... well, let's put it this way. When I was watching LOST (I haven't made it through season 3, BTW :P ;) ), I was FAAAAR more interested in unraveling the mysteries than I was with whether Kate was going to end up with Jack or with Sawyer, though characters are important to me too. So if relationship drama is the central focus of the show (I have no idea whether it is or isn't), I probably won't enjoy it as much. :P :)

LOST is character-centric but thankfully, it's not all about the romantic relationships. Even I, as a huge fan of LOST, admit that the Jack/Kate/Sawyer love triangle can grow tiresome (quickly, for me). But there's far more to the series. How far are you through Season 3?

True, it's not; that was just the first thing that came to mind. :P (I was trying to go for the more generic "love triangles and romantic drama don't do it for me", but I couldn't think of a better example. :P ) Though that's not the only thing I find difficult to enjoy. For one thing, the Jack/Locke controversies, while an interesting dynamic, doesn't come off as such in execution. It just comes up too often to the point where it's just redundant and I find it annoying. Plus... admittedly, I like my main characters to be mostly heroic, so I'm not a fan of how every time an episode is about a specific character, that character tends to act either like an idiot or a jerk (or just moreso than usual).

Anyways, the next episode of LOST I need to see is called "The Man from Tallahassee", episode 13 of season 3. I've actually watched through the show twice now, and this is the second time I've gotten stuck on this episode. :P
I should probably just power through season 3 since most of my friends openly admit it's the worst season and it gets better from here, but I just haven't gotten around to it. (I won't just skip it because reading through summaries doesn't do it for me; I like to have access to all the details so I can decide what's important enough to remember, and summaries just can't do that.)

We gave my Dad season 2 of Maverick for Father's Day. We have been waiting for about 6 weeks to get it out and it was so hard to wait. :D We watched a couple episodes on Sunday and a couple last night too. It just has good as the first season. :D I am looking forward to seeing the episode that has Clint Eastwood in it, I remember seeing it on TV Land in 2004. :D It was really good then. :)

Ryadian, ah! So you have seen LOST all the way through, at least once? I'm not going to lie, at times I too found the Jack and Locke dynamic to grow a bit stale but I much preferred it to the Kate/Sawyer/Jack triangle. Also, while it can be frustrating to see so many 'fallen' heroes on the screen, it's also more realistic and far more intriguing to watch. Still, some of the series redundancies and stupid moments came about as a result of the writers not having an end date for Season 3. Season 3 is a curious beast. On one hand, it has some of the very worst episodes and much of the season is like struggling through quicksand. BUT! The last one-third or so (of Season 3) are great to brilliant and some of the best episodes LOST has to offer. I find it interesting that you're stuck on "The Man from Tallahassee". That's generally considered to be a very good episode, emotionally tough but well done. Keep at it!

Actually, I haven't seen LOST all the way through. I've started at the beginning and made it to this point in season 3 without going farther... twice. ;)) So I've actually never seen "The Man from Tallahassee" or anything after it. But I'm glad to hear that it's actually pretty good; part of the reason I haven't watched it is because I just keep thinking, "It's just going to be more of the same stuff I've been getting annoyed with. Meh, I have other things to do."

I probably won't finish LOST any time soon (I have an Avatar: The Last Airbender marathon with my brother coming up ;) ), but now I'm not quite so reluctant to get back into it. :P :) I'll have to let you know my thoughts when I get there!

Ah, okay. Now I understand! Thanks. Seasons 4 and 5 are actually quite fast-paced for LOST. Season 6 is good too but it has it's ups and downs. I'm very curious to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series when you get around to it.

As for Avater: The Last Airbender, I've seen most of the first season but I need to borrow the rest from my library. They were quite good.

I have got back into Jonathan creek since the Easter special. I never really thought about him being the first modern Sherlock to recently.

Anyway I have started from season one again since before I watched episodes all over the place.

Season 3 was by far my favorite season of Lost. Other than one or two mediocre episodes I thought it was fantastic.

It's seasons 5 and 6 of LOST that drive me crazy.

@Warrior 4 Jesus: I think fast-paced might be good; I've gotten kind of used to that with the shows I watch these days. :P And as far as Avatar is concerned... as much as I still love season 1, season 2 and 3 out-do it, and season 3 is easily the best of the three. :) And the finale is purely amazing--but that is as much as I'll say. ;)

@Josh: I'm curious--without spoilers, can you say if it's how things are concluded, or the episodes themselves that drive you crazy? I've heard that the show's finale was disappointing, though since I'm still in mid-season 3 I'll have to take their word for it. :P

Okay, since my family re-watched The Avengers last night, I'm curious: is anyone else looking forward to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? I've been actively avoiding the trailers since a certain huge spoiler was featured in one of them, but I'm actually really looking forward to it. :D :) For one thing, it's advancing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is always a plus for me. Plus S.H.I.E.L.D. is an aspect of the Marvel universe I want to understand better, and I'm sure that's going to happen in this show. :)

Ryadian, please don't take what people say about the LOST finale as gospel; make up your own mind. There were some fans who were disappointed and/or confused and some who loved it (I for one, found the finale flawed in parts but really enjoyed it). One thing you won't be about the ending is indifferent. The finale is thematically consistent but the story isn't the most important thing to the writers. Keep that in mind when you watch it. Also, there's more than a little C.S. Lewis influence there.

Josh, it's interesting you should say that. There were far more than one or two episodes in Season 3 where the main, main characters were trapped in their circumstances and did nothing of consequence. The story didn't move forward, the characters didn't grow, only the love triangle progressed (and that's one thing we didn't need more of in LOST).

I am indeed. ;) I'm also curious to see what the ratio of comic book characters vs. original characters will be. And, of course, very happy to see the return of the spoiler. ;))

In regards to your question, I watched Merlin all the way through and enjoyed it, though was more than a little disappointed by the ending. Still, it's a fun ride and I'd recommend it. :)

I'm inclined to agree with Warrior about Season 3 of LOST. While it had some good episodes and finished well (in my opinion), there just seemed to be too much of the love triangle.

I quite liked season 5, but then the device of its overall story arc is one I like. Season 4 had one of my favorite episodes, "The Constant" (if memory serves. Its been a while).

The season 6 narrative device intrigued me in concept but I felt a little disappointed in its execution - though as Warrior said it's consistent with what went on before. I liked the Lewis references throughout the entire show. I found the finale a mixed bag - parts I liked and others not so much.

(I'm being deliberately vague regarding my potential spoilers. Reading these posts also tempt me, just a bit, to revisit some of these old episodes).

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
