Marvel’s "The Avengers" May Actually Be Developed as a TV Series for ABC?

I used to watch The Rockford Files when I was a kid in the Seventies. My favourite bit was the telephone answering machine gag at the beginning (this was long before answering machines were common in people's homes, at least in the UK).

I remember watching The Rockford Files in the old days too. Catchy theme song!

The networks are beginning to gear up for the new fall season. While watching the Olympics coverage on NBC I've seen lots of commercials for the beginning of Grimm season 2 (Monday, August 13) and the beginning of Revolution in September.

BBC America is also running (or promoting) several Doctor Who specials (like, the science of, the monsters of, etc).

And there is a casting announcement for this year's DW Christmas special: Richard E. Grant (who played the Doctor in the 2003 mini-series Scream Of The Shalka) joins new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman in a 'festive adventure.' No additional info yet as to plot or airdates.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

(Speaking of BBC...) Does anyone know of some clean BBC shows/series/films? I've heard of alot of them, e.i : Downtown Abbey, Inspector Lewis, Small Island, Merlin, Cranford, Northanger Abbey,Doctor Who, North & South, etc...but I have no idea what's good to watch.

I've seen some BBC & A&E stuff before: Miss Marple, Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Lorna Doone, Oliver Twist, Persuasion; stuff like that. But sometimes there's still stuff in it.

So anyone's opinions and suggestions are appreciated.

Merlin and Doctor Who are clean (though DW has occasional swearing and the odd bit of innuendo; nothing further), and both are excellent shows. I've heard Downton Abbey is quite good as well, though I've never seen it myself.

Can't speak for the others, though. ;)

I don't really know if I'd consider Downton Abby super clean...if I remember correctly, I don't think anything is ever actually shown, but there's definetly stuff mentioned/plot points that probably aren't family friendly. :) (affairs, cheating, illicit lovers, babies out of wedlock, that sort of thing)

I'm so excited!! After a 6 years of no new episodes - they have started filming new episodes of Arrested Develoment. They'll be filming 10 new episodes which will be seen on Netflix early next year and then they will be filming a movie too!

Further up and further in!!

Info for all Doctor Who fans...

Series 7 ("Asylum of the Daleks") premieres tonight with a special showing at the British Film Institute in London.

This article has details, along with other spoilers regarding Matt Smith's tenure as the Doctor, series 8 and its tie-in to the 50th anniversary of the show, etc - not to mention the series 7 trailer. Enjoy!

Still no official date on a US premiere, though lots of online sources indicate August 25.

Thank you both! :) First two sound fun, DA...not so much. :-q

What's your viewpoint on Robin Hood?

I'm in the process of watching BBC's Emma right now.

It's very good, possibly the best adaption out there. It's a four part mini-series, which is great. You get a lot more information and content and emotions, instead of just speeding along. I like this version a lot though, the opening credits are very quirky, and the dialogue and bodily mannerisms have a very jerky, modern feel; while the atmosphere and costumes are certainly Regency (although sometimes Mrs. Elton and Emma have gowns that have a very large resemblance to a Barbie doll...so much pink! @-) /:) :-? ). Highly recommend it. :-bd

I'm a huge fan of it (if you couldn't tell from my graphics ;)) ). The characters are fantastic, the concept is so intriguing, and I just love it. I love watching the exploits of such a lovable band of outlaws. ;))

However, I'm unsure if you would call it "clean" because I'm not sure what your standards are. In my opinion, it certainly is clean. It only has a few moments that could be considered problematic. Early on in the first season there are a couple of kissing scenes that can get uncomfortable at times, but only because of the context surrounding them. There's also a scene where Marian is in bed and it is implied that she may not be wearing clothing, but everything is very tastefully covered. Nothing is shown in the slightest, it's just the moment itself that's awkward. If there's anything else inappropriate, there are only a few passing comments that really don't amount to much.

The third season does have a few inappropriate moments, but the third season isn't the best anyway for several reasons. But for the majority of the series, if there is something even slightly inappropriate, it is usually implied and hardly ever shown.

So if you're looking for a show that has absolutely no inappropriate content or even slight innuendo, Robin Hood may disappoint. But it is great and the very few instances that it does have don't spoil the entire show. In fact, they're very fleeting and I hope you consider watching it anyway. As a side note, I let my nine-year-old sister watch the majority of the episodes, aside from the really intense ones, and she's fine with it.

Okay, thanks very much for your input. And also about your sister, I try to make sure that whatever I watch would be okay for me to pass along or recommend to a child.

A brand new trailer for Doctor Who Series 7 was just released! :D Warning: *shh* Spoilers. ;)

http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/new-bbc-americ ... -38039.htm

I'm still a considerably new fan to Doctor Who, but I've seen every episode of the revival, and I'm currently rewatching Series 6.

My favorite Doctors in the revival, from favorite to least are 9, 11, and 10, though I don't hate any of them. I think the 9th Doctor is very underrated. I never really liked the 10th as much as most people for some reason, but he's still good.

I don't have BBC America, so I'll have to wait for Netflix to get them up. :( Oh well, I'll just have to avoid the spoilers the best I can.
