British TV seems to have more consistently great TV series than American or other TV. Of course there are still rubbish shows from the UK.

Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11

yeah, like Torchwood; worst mistake I ever made was to watch even one episode of that show

Tick tock, tick tock
Goes the clock
Here comes your final hour

Best use it well
But remember yourselves

I've never watched Torchwood because of what I've heard about the content. But I love other BBC shows. Things like Doctor Who, Sherlock, certain mini-series, and (despite the content on them :P ) Extras and Nevermind the Buzzcocks.

I don't know about other seasons of Torchwood but Season 3 was exceptional in almost every way, rather dark and disturbing though. Every show has it's bad episodes, some just have more than others.
Darkhorse, if watching Torchwood is the worst mistake you've ever made, count yourself lucky! :P

What do you know of Sherlock? Is it clean? Can you watch seasons online?

What's your guys opinion of Sherlock? I've seen this little snippet, and now I want to watch it. :) Is it clean? Can you watch seasons online?

Sherlock is quite good and clever. You'll find a lot of avid fans of the show on here.

It does have some bad content on it: the first season has some sexual innuendo in the dialogue a couple times, hints of people sleeping together but not actually showing it, etc.; the second season kicks the content up a bit -- particularly in the episode with Irene Adler. There's some mild nudity in that one, and does a bit more than just hint at people sleeping together. It does not have any full-out sex scenes, however. (If you want more details about the particulars of the content, just PM me. I can't go into too much detail on a public family forum. ;)) ) Of course, there's also some details with the forensics and things, since it deals with murder mysteries. I'd say it would probably be the equivalent of a PG-13 movie here in the U.S.

I don't know if you can watch it online or not. But you can get it at rental places, Netflix, and some libraries. :)

By the way, if you really want to watch it, but don't want to see the content, I could give you the hour/minute/second stats for when the bad parts happen in each episode. That way, when you're watching it, you could just skip over those parts.

So, are these episodes based off of the original stories? I saw a preview for one they did for The Hounds of Baskerville...are the others the real stories too?

Yes, either all of them are or most of them are. Season Two has stories based on Hounds of the Baskervilles, Scandal in Bohemia, and The Final Problem. The first episode of Season One is based on A Study in Scarlet. I'm not sure about the other two Season One episodes. They might be based on Sherlock Holmes stories I haven't read yet.

Has anyone else here seen Star Trek: Enterprise? My dad is working his way through the seasons right now and has managed to get me hooked. ;)) I've seen a few episodes here and there (episode 1: Broken Bow, and a lot of episodes in Season 3 about the Xindi). Haven't taken the time to watch it all the way through yet, but I'm hoping to get to that eventually.

The other night my brother, Dad, and I watched an episode in season 3 titled Simlitude. Let me just say, I was bawling. So beautifully sad. The way they did that was heartbreaking. And yet it's one of my favorite episodes ever. (It doesn't help that my favorite character is Trip. ;)) ) That said, I still can't think about it without wanting to cry. :(( I think after watching that was the point where I realized that Enterprise really is a genius show and that I loved it.

After being raised on Star Trek: The Next Generation, I'd been a little skeptical about the other Star Trek sequels—like Enterprise and Voyager. My dad's initial opinion was that they weren't worth it, so based on that, I didn't have a huge interest in seeing them. However, my dad has been working his way through Enterprise, seeing many of the episodes for the first time. He likes it a lot, and thus, I've managed to get on the bandwagon as well. ;)) I think both of our viewpoints have changed and we've managed to appreciate Enterprise for what it is. I will always prefer TNG of course, since it was my first foray into the Star Trek universe. But Enterprise has slowly wiggled its way into my heart and affections.

Aaaand as some of you already know and probably guessed from my graphics, I've also been watching Doctor Who. But this post is already long enough so let's not talk about that right now. ;))

Yup. :) The Blind Banker is based on "The Dancing Men" and "The Sign of the Four", and The Great Game uses "The Bruce-Partington Plans" as a subplot, and pays homage to to "The Five Orange Pips", "A Case of Identity", "A Scandal in Bohemia", and a couple of others. Really, it's positively brimming with references. Note that none of the stories are strict adaptation, though. Rather loose, actually. :p Still, a highly enjoyable series, minus the content.

MONC, I haven't seen Enterprise in awhile, but I do recall the show being pretty good. ...And Tucker was my favourite, too. ;))

PG-13 isn't an evil rating. Sherlock Holmes adventures have always dealt with murder and other nasty mysteries, so it's always warranted a similar rating. As for the writers needing to put sexual references in the stories, they don't need too but it's par for the course and it could be far, far worse (not to use it as an excuse but to help in understanding). While there is some mild nudity in the second story of Season 2, Irene Adler was strategically covered. Her lack of clothing played a role in her power over Sherlock (he reads people by their clothing, accessories etc. but with her, because she's not wearing anything, he can't read her and that scares him). If the scene may cause you to stumble, absolutely skip it.

Yeah, you have a point. :) And for me, it's not so much the murder and nasty stuff, but the innuendo...and certainly the Scandal in Belgravia episode, I would just skip that all together...if I ever watched it at all.

Oh, I agree but I'm just saying it's not one of those instances where they do it 'just because' or to shock the viewer. Also, I think many people mistake Sherlock as a family series, that was never it's intention. It was made by adults for adults. The series has an M rating (mature audiences 15+) in Australia for that very reason.

I wish we could know the ratings here in the US. :P Whenever I look up a British show, it always says "Not Rated". :(

Wallander, for example. I've been interested in that show for a long time. But since it says "Not Rated", I'm a bit afraid to rent it since I don't know the content.
