I do hope you get to see Once Upon a Time soon, Warrior. I've enjoyed it. (And be sure to watch for the writers' nods to LOST, such as Apollo candy bars).

A while back you commented on the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood: Children of Earth:

...It was a tight sci-fi/drama/horror story, very well-written and overall, incredibly well-acted....Suffice to say the series plays on the fears of adults for the well-being of their children....Children of Earth doesn't have much inappropriate content (there's a bit of violence and language but that's it) but the themes are incredibly dark and disturbing. I was speechless, emotionally-drained and in complete shock at the end. I know this word is overused but it's completely appropriate here - it was 'heart-wrenching'.

I watched the entire 5-part series pretty much all in one sitting yesterday (finishing today) and echo your remarks. Very dark and disturbing but well done; I had to see it through to the end. (The child-protection theme echoed with me even more than it might have otherwise, as my latest NaNo story had it as one of its main themes. [/random])

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

narnian1- Yes, the most recent one was about Reba. I think I missed the first few minutes or so of it. But it really was an interesting one. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, if you ever get the chance to see it. :)

I'm sorry I haven't responded to this yet. I haven't forgotten. I found it on Hulu but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I hope to watch it this weekend, after which I will post my thoughts. :)

*pokes head into the thread*

So, is anyone else in here a fan of Person of Interest? My family discovered it recently and we like it quite a lot.* I find the plot and characters very intriguing, and I'm very eager to see how the first season ends up. Last week's episode was excellent, I thought; I think that

Spoiler
Elias has great potential as the reoccurring villain.
:) Due to college basketball, there won't be any new episodes this week or next week, so we're kinda disappointed about that. Great news though; found out this afternoon that the show has been picked up for a second season! Can't wait! :D

*My sister would probably tell you this is the understatement of the year. It's only the middle of March though, so there's plenty of time to come up with another major understatement before next year.

Glad to hear it's been renewed, flam!

Person of Interest got my attention from the start because of Michael Emerson's starring role (he was excellent as Benjamin Linus in LOST); I was curious to see him as a good guy. So I've seen most of the episodes. I agree about your spoilered comment.

I've seen quite a number of episodes but I find it lacking. There needs to be more character development and mystery. Also, I think it would benefit from more of a serial format.

I caught up on Once Upon a Time. I didn't love every single episode - of course, who ever does - but i'm definitely interested to see where they're going to take it. Right now, i'm wondering how many seasons the creators have in mind. I mean, i liked it, but i don't think i want to see the story stretched out for more than, say, five seasons.

Couple character observations -

Mr. Gold -

Spoiler
I don't know if i'd say he's my favorite character, but he's certainly the most intriguing. It's kinda funny: i'd say i wouldn't trust him farther than an anvil can jump, but while he's tricky and cunning, he rarely - if ever - outright lies. That, and he's so sinister/slimy that you really should know upfront you're not going to like your end of the bargain.

I felt so sorry for him in the Beauty and the Beast episode. Beating up her dad is not an appropriate response, of course, but that's like the first real emotional response we get from him; and it's obvious he's still heartbroken over losing her. Very sad.

I'm disappointed with David/

Spoiler
Prince Charming in the real world, thus far. He's fairly heroic and honorable in the fairy tale world, so i'm hoping that will start to show through soon. Because, really dude, be a man, please?

Sheriff Graham -

Spoiler
He wasn't exactly one of my favorite characters, but i'm still sorry they killed him off. But of course we can't have people remembering yet, now can we?

Regina -

Spoiler
A little obnoxiously obvious in her evil-ness, but i don't think the story really calls for a more subtle, conflicted villain. I'm wondering how bad she was before whatever happened with Snow White ... happened.

One last thing, for those who have seen the last episode -

Spoiler
how do you think this whole Mary Margaret-arrested-for-murder thing is going to end? I don't think she'll go to prison over it, but i can't think Regina will be exposed that easily, either.

Good observations, Arwenel. I too hope it lasts only as long as it remains fresh - though there's still plenty of material to draw on.

About the last episode:

Spoiler
At first I thought they would have trouble pinning the murder on anyone - no body, after all, so anything pointing toward Mary-Margaret would be circumstantial at best. But the developments in that episode were just creepy. I think Emma will work to get to the bottom of it, but as you said, I doubt Regina will be exposed too quickly

Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, take note: the US/North American premiere of its sequel The Legend of Korra will air at 11 am EDT on Saturday April 14. More details, and additional new trailers, are here.

I watched the recent episode "Dreamy" from Once Upon a Time and caught some of the writers' fun with names and images: the fairy's name is Nova, and her Storybrooke equivalent is Astrid - both stellar names.

A diagram of the solar system is prominently displayed in the candle-selling headquarters room, as are artistic renderings of Leo, Cancer, and Gemini. They must have been studying astronomy that week. ;)

And how many candles did they sell the previous year? 42. Knowing these writers, that's not a random number (it was one of the LOST Numbers, and in turn was included there as a salute to Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide series.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Anyone else excited that Maverick (1957-1962) is finally coming to DVD in May? :D Finally another TV series for us to collect. :)

*highfives gazer as a fellow POI fan*

There has been a slew of tidbits released about upcoming Person of Interest episodes over the past couple days; I'm wondering if they're trying to make up for the two week hiatus. Admittedly, it did help perk me up a bit yesterday. ;)) Here's one that I found particularly interesting/exciting: according to this, Dagmara Dominczyk will be guest starring in an upcoming episode. Fans of Jim Caviezel may recognize her as Mercedes to his Edmond Dantes. Count of Monte Cristo reunion, anyone? :D That's at least the second time they've (not so) subtly referenced Caviezel's role in that movie, and only one of many references to his and Emerson's past roles. Yay for not-so-subtle references! ;))

What does everyone think of the Doctor Who Season 7 trailer? It looks a bit odd to me. I can see what Moffat meant when he called the episodes "movie episodes". The feel I get from the trailer is definitely one more like I'd get from a movie than from a TV show.

Link for those who haven't seen it yet.

Also,

Spoiler
are they on the planet of the Ood in those snow scenes?

wow - I'm kinda in a daze - I actually read this ENTIRE thread!

Someone asked if anyone had seen Road to Avonlea - I have, it's one of my favorite series and I bought the series as a Christmas present to myself this past Christmas.

I also saw that we have some Trek fans - I'll be visiting that thread shortly.

Arrested Development is also a favorite of mine. I'm hoping that the movie actually materializes soon. But you've got to love a series that comes up with a character name like Bob Loblaw!

I've been watching a lot of older series. Monk, Remington Steele, Get Smart, Road to Avonlea, Little House on the Prairie, The Andy Griffith Show, JAG, and MacGyver. I'm not all that impressed with many of the current shows - the 2 exceptions are NCIS and The Middle.

Favorite cartoon of all time?? Underdog (a superhero speaks in rhyme all the time with the voice of Wally Cox - I love it!) I even know all the words to both verses of the theme song.

Further up and further in!!
