Fans of the original animated Avatar: The Last Airbender may enjoy the new teaser trailer for next year's The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra. Set some 70 years later, this one seems to keep much of the style of the original while reflecting advances in technology, architecture, etc.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

*pokes head in*

So...I was wondering, what do you all have to say about the Masterpiece Mystery's Sherlock Holmes? My sister and I have been searching for more entertainment, and this one caught our eye.
I've noticed the large amounts of praise it's gotten on here and was curious. What stops me from watching, though, is the TV-14 rating, and I can't find any explanation for why it's TV-14, and was wondering if anyone could clue me in.
Much thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what Masterpiece Mystery is but if you're talking about the Sherlock mini-series by Steven Moffat, it's a brilliant piece of work. The series is probably rated TV-14 because it contains some violence, adult themes and mild language (there's less content than most TV-14 shows). Here in Australia the series was rated M (for mature audiences 15 and over) for violence.

Here's a detailed account of all the content:

Bella, if it is the BBC show Sherlock you're referring to, I think it's excellent. There's some mild content, but nothing terribly inappropriate. I'd say it's more family friendly than the atrocious movie that came out a few years ago.

Ugh. I can't stand that movie!

Currently I've been watching J.J. Abram's Fringe: Season 2. The series is a high-concept sci-fi/fantasy/drama about either paranormal and odd events and it's almost semi-realistic because it's grounded in pseudo-science. Essentially the characters are the focus and the importance of family is a key theme. There are two Aussies in the main cast (Anna Torv and John Noble). It's fascinating and the acting is for the most part, brilliant.
The first season was good but had some rough patches, this season is more consistent in its quality. The show consists of a serialised story arc and an episodic 'monster' of the week. I love the more serial over-arching nature found in much of Season 2. I would recommend the series to fans of Lost, Alias, Heroes, The Twilight Zone, Dark Angel, The X-Files etc. but it's not for children as it has quite a bit of blood and gore in the autopsy scenes and some disturbing imagery and themes.

I do not like that chris lily angry boys tv show at all. Most of the swearing is not necessary and it is not funny at all.

Warrior and Booky, that's the one I was referring to. Thank-you for the information and the link! Judging from what you both say and the link's content, it looks like an enjoyable show.
To be honest, violence (unless it's really disturbing) never bothers me. And for language, I do mind it but it doesn't disturb me as much as adult content does, so I'm glad to see that this Sherlock doesn't have very much of that.
I was curious about the movie that came out and looked up on it. It does not look very quality... so it's wonderful to hear this show is different.

Hope you enjoy it, Bella!

I just finished season 2 of Fringe this summer, Warrior. Eagerly awaiting the season 3 DVDs so that I can get caught up in time to watch season 4 when it starts the end of next month.

Bookwyrm, fancy that! I'm also eagerly awaiting Season 3 (it hasn't come to DVD here just yet). You say Season 4 begins in a month and half? Fantastic. Unfortunately Season 3 only comes to DVD here (Australia) in late October. Oh, well.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that, Warrior. :( Considering two of the actors are Australian, you'd think Fox would be a little nicer to the Aussie fans. I never will understand the ridiculous delays in releasing DVDs worldwide.

I know! Thanks for the empathy, mate. I first picked up Fringe not long after LOST finished. I love how I warmed to the cast so easily. You have Anna Torv (who took a bit to grow on me), Joshua Jackson from Dawson's Creek (he grew on me quickly, although I've never seen him in anything before) and John Noble (the man is brilliant and even from the same state as I - South Australia). Then you have Lance Reddick from The Wire and LOST and you're spoilt for choice.

Just out of total curiosity, does anyone besides me watch the Food Network channel? Religiously? ;)) It's one of the few shows I watch on cable (when I'm at a house that has cable) and now it's got a lot of shows rotating on Hulu. So I was just curious if anyone else besides me likes it? And if so, do you prefer the morning cooking shows or the evening reality shows?

Booky, I did enjoy it, thanks! :) There were a few jokes (I think y'all know what I mean) that I didn't like, but the reference only came once again in the second. I've only watched A Study in Pink and The Blind Banker, so I hope that the jokes don't come in the other episodes. Only one word caught me by surprise, but the rest were not uncommon to what I've found usually appears in some British videos.
Even though it's very different from the one Holmes book I read and the personality of the characters is different than I imagined, I still enjoy it. Benedict Cumberbatch is excellent as Sherlock, and the guy who played Bilbo is great, too.
Is the criminal someone behind all the episodes? *is soo curious*

Spoiler
I accidentally found out yesterday that there is a Professor Moriarty(sp?) present in the Holmes stories, so that's who I suspect.

F_K, I don't have cable but I think I've seen Food Network provided by my converter box thing. *raises hand* I do enjoy watching such food channels-- when I have food with me, so I don't starve while watching. ;))

Does anyone else LOVE watching Rick Steve's Europe? I just love that show to pieces, and such like lets-explore-this-country-and-tell-of-the-history.
Another one I like watching is Antique's Roadshow. Just to see the artifacts: the talking bores me.

I know that I am a late bloomer, but I still love Merlin. It started last month, I guess, when I flipped through channels and then I heard that it was next. I remembered that I first heard Merlin here in NW. Haha. I tried to watch a few scenes and before I knew it, I was watching it till the show ended.

Spoiler
I first watched Merlin when Arthur was having this medieval game using a horse and a somewhat long sharp stick then Arthur fell in love with Guinevere.

I Love watching food network! My favorite show is Chopped and The food network Challenges!
I've watched the Next Food Network Star and The Next Iron Chief for the past two years. :p
I sometimes will watch the morning cooking shows as well, though not as often as the stuff they show in the evening. :)
