I watched the pilot episode of The Cape tonight. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Summer Glau underwhelmed me, as did the lead and his TV family. The Carnival of Crime was awesome though. Can they get their own show, please? ;)) I think the biggest problem with the show is that it doesn't seem to know whether it's a serious superhero show or a self-deprecating campfest. If they pick an angle and stick with it, I think it could be great. And as usual, Bear McCreary's score was brilliant.

Trivia fans take note: that granddaddy of all trivia shows, Jeopardy!, is airing a 2-day contest between its two best champions (Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter) and an IBM AI named "Watson." At stake is $1 million in prize money. It may seem like a publicity stunt but it's also an interesting look into advancing technology.

In the first half of the contest, aired today, the human contestants answered the Final Jeopardy question correctly while Watson did not. The computer, however, had amassed a significant lead going into tomorrow's finale.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I love Jeopardy, but I missed the episodes with Watson. Sounds very interesting!

Wrong will be right when Aslan comes in sight / At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more / When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death / And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again

The only Jeopardy I know is the Scottish TV series that follows Scottish students investigating possible UFO sightings in Australia. It was a children's series, filmed in a mysterious, character-driven approach similiar to the Blair Witch Project. I was surprised to hear that there was a quiz show of the same name.

Thanks for that info, Warrior! I'd never heard of the BBC show by the same title. I found a few clips on youtube.

Apparently there was a UK version of the quiz show Jeopardy, judging by other clips I found (this game appears to play much like the original, with the exception of very limited cash prizes).

The US version is nearly as old as I am, ;) first airing back in the early 1960s. It's had several iterations and hosts. The current version with Alex Trebek dates back to the early 80s.

The human contestants did better than the AI in today's episode, though Watson had amassed such a big lead yesterday that it still 'won.' (The $1 million prize money was donated to charities).

Watson did a good job with speech recognition and sounded a lot less mechanical than other artificial speech units I've heard. It's biggest problem was with things like idioms and wordplay (such as puns).

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

So apparently J. J. Abrams and Jonathon Nolan have teamed up to create a new show titled Person of Interest and Michael Emerson is going to be in it. CBS picked it up. Ought to be interesting. :D

Love it! Michael Emerson is all kinds of awesome. J.J. Abrams is also great (for other reasons). That man keeps busy, doesn't he?

My gosh! I loved that TV programme!!! It used to be my favourite ever and it was really tense and a bit freaky, absolutely the best thing like it on British childrens TV. I even dropped out of my school recorder club so that I could watch it (Much to my mums disdain :D )
I felt a bit confused initially, i was like Jeopardy...Trivia show?...Oh-Not the same Joepardy! but yeah...it was a great TV show.
Since series 1 I've been watching School of comedy and I seem to be one of the only people in the world who filnds in absolutely FOTFL (Fall on the floor laughing 8-} )funny!!! and I'm liking Glee aswell, though to start with it reminded me a bit too much of High School Musical!

I watched Battlestar Galactica last night for the first time. The new one, not the old one. I was absolutely glued to my laptop screen, finished the entire 3 hour miniseries and first two episodes in one sitting. Absolutely fantastic show. It's amusing to watch it and see how much of Stargate Universe is stolen directly from it. From the filming style of the space scenes (to be fair, BSG stole that from Firefly) to the resident amoral scientist hallucinating a former romantic interest, they even used some of the same terminology. Did the Stargate showrunners really think no one would notice? ;))

Battlestar Galactica is very good. Sure it's uneven at times but for the most part I really enjoyed it. Booky, did you know that the mini-series is just the beginning? There are four seasons (not all full-length) and several movies to go.

I stumbled upon a youtube clip today that does a fun job of tying together some of the main plot points and musical themes from LOST with clips or quotes from Gilligan's Island. Enjoy...

Almost 2 weeks without a post here? I guess that's good; it means NarniaWebbers are out reading, or writing, or doing things other than watching TV. ;))

A few comments: The last 2 Castle episodes were quite good: a routine homicide investigation uncovers an apparent terrorist plot. It was very reminiscent of the last season of 24, which was also set in NYC. This similarity was even referenced in-story, when a character talked about a DHS agent (portrayed by Adrian Pasdar, who was Nathan Patrelli in Heroes) "going all Jack Bauer" on a suspect.

After a hiatus of several months, The Event returns to NBC Monday night, with 2 new episodes to be aired back-to-back.

Fans of The Walking Dead may be interested in the season 1 DVD/BLu-ray release (Tuesday in the US).

I'll keep my eyes open for this one. B-)

My wife brought home a BBC series I'd never heard of called Monarch of the Glen, set in Scotland and about an absentee laird (or Lord) of a giant Scottish estate who comes back and ends up trying to manage the affairs of his not-so-thrify parental figures. Lots of humor, love triangles, and gorgeous landscapes. Like I said, I'd never heard of it before but I have to admit to taking a liking to it. Duncan is pretty funny. ;))
