I was watching the second episode of this season of Castle and was delighted to spot Patricia Tallman playing the murder victim who happens to be a famous psychic. I got a good chuckle out of that considering she played humanity's most powerful telepath on Babylon 5.

I caught that too. :) I wonder how intentional it might have been (given the salute to Nathan Fillion's earlier series Firefly that came in Castle season 2).

Incidentally, I caught an interesting tidbit of continuity in that episode (last year's Halloween episode) that I didn't catch when it originally aired...the younger sister of the murder victim is seen wearing a t-shirt that says "Hayley Blue" on it. In the very next episode aired, the murder victim is a young popular singer named...Hayley Blue. ;))

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Shadowlander: Wow, I can't wait! Here, it's gonna be aired tomorrow night at 11pm. Hope it won't scare me that much! *fingers crossed*.

I already just watched the latest episode of How I met your Mother and I thought of it as a bit not-that-funny feeling.

Because of Shadowlander and then Bookwyrm I decided to give The Walking Dead a go. Let me start by saying that I don't like zombie movies, actually the idea of it has never appealed to me- I've never actually seen anything related to them to be honest.

But this, this episode was terrific. I can't believe how invested I already feel in the characters. Done well. Both scenes mentioned above, hidden in spoiler boxes, I agree with both your thoughts on it. I felt the same way with both of those scenes. I can't wait for the next episode.

4.5/5 stars for that first episode from me as well. Hopefully it keeps as strong.

Yikes, I hate violent movies especially the ones where you don't exactly know where everythings headed. I watched a horror film once at a sleepover and I couldn't sleep for the next two nights without leaving the lights on. Lol that's the first and last time I'm watching a horror film or scary t.v shows for that matter. The Walking Dead looks really interesting and I kind of want to watch it, but I'm wayy to squeamish. I'm probably going to chicken out before the intro ends.

sandyentersnarnia, I love Monk! It's a funny show and I'm sad it ended!

Team Edward and Team Jacob are overrated. I'm Team Avatar!

I hope so too. Early reports are that the whole first season is top notch just like the first episode, and given the amount of positive press and good word of mouth the show has it wouldn't surprise me if it stretches out well past 2 seasons. The right show at the right time is a rare thing, and I really hope we'll get to see shows more like it (not zombies, necessarily but other sci-fi or horror-ish shows of TWD's caliber) from other networks who have now taken the hint. I'd love a series for The Dark Tower, and even the Fallout series of video games would make a great week to week show. So says my Pip Boy 2000 avatar. ;)) And another episode tonight. :D

It's nothing to be ashamed of, especially not regarding this show. Very intense, and I'm a zombie movie veteran. It's the excellent acting and characterization that really ties this one together though. :) But definitely not for everyone!!!!

Just finished this week's episode of The Walking Dead. Just as intense as last week's, more so I think. Wow! Terrific all around, I was at the edge of my seat for much of it.

Spoiler
I was SO disgusted when they cut through the zombie, and then even more so when they covered themselves in it. Yuck. Having them walk through them was nerve wrecking, especially with the rain about to start. Leaving that other guy on the roof was hard, though I expect to see a bit more of him- although it's his own fault to be honest. Still, no one deserves that. And his (the cop's) wife and kid, I wonder how she will react when she finds out he's alive still. Talk about an awkward reunion. It'll be fun.

Great episode this week as well. This show is my new LOST. Different shows, but I can't help but be reminded of it- during both episodes. I guess it's the whole surviving against the odds part of the story.

I've been watching that BBC series Sherlock. Has anyone else seen that?
I love Martin Freeman. And the actor who plays Sherlock too. (I forgot his name, lol) I haven't seen the third episode yet though.
I like it almost as much as the movie Sherlock Holmes... Almost. ;)

TWD:

Spoiler
I wonder if there's any chance Lori and Shane will be zombie munchies by the end of the season? ;)) I know what happens in the first volume of the comic book, but not entirely certain that they'll stick to the same character deaths.

Glenn was definitely my favorite part of this episode. I think Andrea has potential to be an awesome character too. Not sure about the rest of the people Rick met in Atlanta. They seemed a little bland to me. I also suspect we'll see Merle again as some sort of antagonist.

I'm not widely experienced in the zombie genre. Reading The Zombie Survival Guide/World War Z is about the most I've dabbled in the genre, so maybe it doesn't mean much when I say that these zombies are the first ones I've found to actually be scary. Not only do they have traces of their memories intact, they can use tools and climb. Plus they're decently fast for zombies. That's pretty scary.

The Walking Dead

Spoiler
It was a much more laid-back episode than the first two. not half as much tension, but it was a great episode. We got a view of the human "colony" side. It was great to see him with his wife and kid again. I was sure they would hold this off somehow a little bit longer, seeing his son run to him was beautiful. The tension later with his wife was expected.

Going back...
At the beginning we saw Merle trying to reach for the saw while the zombies tried getting in. I gotta say that I am not surprised he managed to escape that situation. I wondered why the zombies had left the door. The question now is, where is he? I knew he wouldn't be over. Like Bookwyrm said, he's got to be an antagonist, I had thought the same. Not only do the humans have enemies in the zombies, but also within themselves- as seen with Merle, and the husband back at camp- you'd think they would treat each other better now that they have gone through this, but some people will keep their old ways it seems. But there was part of a conversation that I thought didn't really need to be there, it took me off guard and felt forced in away. It just wasn't natural. Hopefully there isn't much of that in the future. Thankfully it wasn't too much now.

And where is the other father and son, whose wife is now a zombie. How far from Atlanta is he?

Until next episode... :)

I have recently started watching Growing Pains. Can anyone tell me the best episodes to watch? (I am only watching it for Kirk Cameron, but still.)

Growing Pains was a great family sitcom. My personal favorite season was Season 7 ('91-'92), where Leonardo DiCaprio made his appearance as a homeless boy named Luke Bower whom Mike brings home to the Seaver family. Of course, you miss much of the "growing pains" if you start there as it is the last season of the show and the characters are all grown up... mostly. ;))

Fun tidbit: Chelsea Noble (Kirk Cameron's wife) plays Mike Seaver's girlfriend in the later seasons. I wish they would go back to doing comedy together some day. I think it would be a blast to watch if they made something that was totally different than the standard sitcom of today.

I'd suggest starting at the beginning but either way, you'll get a laugh out of whichever episode you watch. ;))

I love this series so far.

Spoiler
Where's Merle? Minus a hand I'm not sure how far he can go...speaking of which, if he managed to get the hacksaw why not saw on the handcuffs? Was he that far gone in the noggin?

I already didn't much care for Lori (Rick's wife) since she was so quick to uh...hook up with Rick's best friend. It's heavily implied that she and Rick were having marital problems in the pilot but the speed with which she pairs up with Shane makes me think the spark between she and Rick is long gone as she didn't appear to go through anything resembling a mourning period. At least they both look deservedly guilty through much of episode 3 ;)).

No one should ever do to a Dodge Challenger what they did to that poor car. Criminal.

I have a feeling next week's episode is going to be action packed! Has anyone picked up on the distinct Western vibe the show has (Rick still wearing his Sherriff uniform...carrying a revolver, a Colt Python .357 no less, and riding a horse in the pilot)? I don't care for Westerns but strangely when it's combined with Sci-Fi I think there's little else on TV that's better.

Also apparently they have a weekly contest in which you can try and win a walk on spot as a zombie. Atlanta, GA isn't too far from where I live, roughly 8 hours or so...I'm half tempted to give it a shot. ;))

I enjoyed Growing Pains back in the late 80's/early 90's in syndication, although it always kind of crossed me as a poor man's Family Ties. Kirk Cameron made the show...he was hilarious ;)). A couple of years ago they gathered the cast together on the Larry King show and it was fun seeing how they've all gotten along. Long live Alan Thicke! :D

I did see it! I watched all three, without knowing there were only three, and was very dissapointed that there weren't more. But, yes, Benedict Cumberbatch did an excellent job as Sherlock, I almost prefer him to Robert Downey Jr's version in the recent movie... but then, there's a difference, because the BBC Sherlock series is set in modern day.

Martin Freeman was awesome as Watson. I'll admit, most of the reason I even began watching was simply to see him act, because he's been cast as Bilbo in the upcoming Hobbit films, and I wanted to make sure he was good. ;) I was very pleased.

Psych has just started up again after the summer break... anyone watch the first two episodes? As you can see from my Avatar, I'm a psych fan. :) However, I haven't been too thrilled with the latest episodes because

Spoiler
Shawn and Juliet finally 'getting together' is something I can't get used to. I would have preferred if their relationship had stayed the way it was before... I mean, sure, I always wanted them to be together, but its one of those things that should happen yet, you know? This week's past episode was enjoyable, there were at least two or three references to a few of the older classic episodes from seasons 1 and 2. Oh yes, and Cary Elwes' guest appearance in last week's episode was hilarious, just like last time he was on the show. :)

Notes for LOST fans...

I happened to flip on the TV this evening partway through the CBS series How I Met Your Mother - a show I've never even seen a clip from.

Apparently Jorge Garcia (Hugo from LOST) is guest starring in this episode as an old friend from college who apparently has bad luck. This ties directly to his LOST character's being 'cursed' by winning the lottery with the Numbers.

He's somehow able to pass that bad luck off to someone else, and he's thrilled. But he's made several comments about "being on that island like forever," and all the stuff he missed while he was there. ;))

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
