I'm still enjoying The Event as a sort of cross between LOST and 24, though it has resorted to one trope those series managed to avoid:
A bit of trivia: Rosalind Chao has appeared in the last couple episodes and may become a recurring character. She's best known for playing Soon-Lee in M*A*S*H but was also Keiko O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.
Also, ABC has renewed V for season 2; it premieres January 4, 2011.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Ewwww.

stargazer: Whoa! You have watched it already? And the aliens are a bit not entertaining in tv shows. Sigh.

Just finished Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Season 2. It was very good but the finale was a bit underwhelming. I'm royally peeved that the series was discontinued. There were some really interesting story threads to further develop.
I'm also rewatching Pushing Daisies - Season 2.
I think aliens can work well in a series if they're not cliche and are either done in a really subtle manner (aka The 4400) or a extremely overt manner (Doctor Who). But the mid-way point is where it gets messy.

Last night I watched the first episode in Doctor Who and, um...please tell me it gets better

Good point. I think, upon viewing additional episodes, that The Event is doing all right with the aliens. They're virtually indistinguishable from humans and that angle is being played fairly subtly. There's a lot of other things going on, with the big conspiracy and all.
Incidentally,
I was reminded of a Star Trek: Voyager episode in which a ship from the future crashes; the guy who finds it gradually releases tech, spurring the whole microcomputer revolution that has shaped our lives. Not quite the same motive, but perhaps a similar effect.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Hmm... The Event is interesting but it's only the mystery and possible story that's keeping me watching because most of the characters are beyond bland. The next LOST this certainly is not.
Glenstorm the Great, have you begun watching Doctor Who from the very first episode of the series (from the early 1960's) or just the very first episode of the rebooted series? If you're not used to low-budget British TV series you may struggle with it but the stories are intersting, as are the characters and the places they visit in time and space. That said, the newer series has a much larger budget than the original and has more of a focus on characters and their stories. Just as with any series there are rubbish episodes and good to great episodes. Give it another go!

W4J: Lost will be LOST. Amazing show!
I am trying to watch MONK and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in Universal Channel. Both are said to be great so, I'll give it a try then.

I'm watching the reboot series. I actually just finished watching the second episode. It's all right so far. I had someone tell me that the show gets much better after the first season, so I may become a fan yet
Doctor Who gets a lot better after series 1. I know a lot of people like Nine, but he pales in comparison to the awesomeness that is Ten and Eleven. Plus I think the stories got better and the series also improved once they replaced Rose in series 3.
I was watching the second episode of this season of Castle and was delighted to spot Patricia Tallman playing the murder victim who happens to be a famous psychic. I got a good chuckle out of that considering she played humanity's most powerful telepath on Babylon 5.
I had to jump over a few hurdles but I managed to watch the pilot for the new AMC show The Walking Dead.
Wowsers!
First off, this show is most certainly not for squeamish folks. In truth I can't honestly see more than a handful of folks here on NWeb who could probably sit through the whole pilot. I'm an action film fan and the violence even took me aback a bit, but in truth it's necessary for the plot and the producers did an amazing job of integrating it into the story.
The plot surrounds a Sherriff's Deputy named Rick Grimes who is badly injured after being shot by some lunatic bank robbers. Rick goes into a coma for a month and awakens in an abandoned hospital that looks more like a war zone. There's no one in sight and Rick, after a little exploration, discovers he's awakened into a world of nightmares where the dead just don't stay dead. A couple of survivors show Rick the ropes on dealing with this new world and Rick runs off to find his wife and child. It turns out there was a virus that got on the loose somehow that started all this while Rick was in his coma, and his answers may all be found in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Centers for Disease Control. But the horrors Rick finds there go far beyond what he was expecting...
I'm stunned that this show is on regular cable TV...it is filled to bursting with graphic violence and the subject matter is not one that's ever been done on regular TV before, but they really managed to convey that sense of overwhelming dread and loneliness that goes hand in hand with any film in the zombie apocalypse genre. The characters are well fleshed out (the zombies think so too ...sorry
) and I felt terribly for them when certain situations arose...these are human beings like you and I but placed in extraordinary circumstances that go beyond imagination. Human civilization is now completely collapsed and these poor folks are left behind and facing terrible things and having to do things that would have seemed unthinkable a month earlier. It's a heart wrenching show and excellently acted.
Again, not for everyone (not by a long shot) but if you can stomach it this is an excellent program and definitely worth the look. 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Eagerly awaiting next week's episode!

I was really impressed with it as well, Shadow. I have to admit, there were a few bits that actually scared me a little and horror stuff doesn't usually bother me. The part with
Looks good. The poster is reminiscent of Stephen King's 'The Stand' and the movie '28 Days Later' (a terrifying zombie-like movie).
