I know there are a number of Red Green fans here on the forum (for those who haven't seen it, it's like a slightly-zanier version of Home Improvement - or a cross between Hee-Haw and Home Improvement). It's produced in Ontario and often appears on PBS stations here in the States.

Last night whilst scanning the TV airwaves I came upon a retrospective of the show - in addition to showing some of the classic sketches, the actors reminisced about their time on the program. Most of them were quickly identifiable even though they've aged somewhat. An exception was Patrick McKenna, who played Harold. Imagine an older, relaxed, almost dignified guy instead of the hyper, nerdy Harold. ;))

At any rate, it was fun getting some background info on some of the things that happened during the show's run (like Harold's leaving to film another TV show; his absence was explained by his taking a job in the big city). They also included reruns of some sketches (like Red's "talking to all the middle-aged guys out there") from both the first and last episodes of the show.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Avatar, Book 3, "The Beach"

it was an ok episode, but one thing I loved: Zuko. He's my favorite character!!

Spoiler
He's so angry! being pressured to say why, he admitted he was angry with himself. He's confused. Surely it has to do with his uncle's teachings and what he'd been through during his years of banishment. I can't see him as a villain, even though he isn't a good guy either. He might go down as a tragic hero like Snape in Harry Potter, but I don't want to jump ahead of myself.

He has me going crazy ~x(

EDIT: :-o

Spoiler
Avatar Roku is Zuko's great grandfather?!?!?!?! If Aang is the reincarnation of the last avatar, that means he's a relation of sorts to Zuko!! Maybe I was right, Zuko will be some sort of hero and set things right again
:-ss

I miss That's so Raven :( They were one of the reasons why Disney was sooooo amazing! Too bad it's not already running anymore.

My on-again/off-again rewatch of Avatar: The Last Airbender from beginning to end (prompted by the release of the movie) brought me to the first half-dozen episodes of season 3 today. I enjoy them on the whole, but they certainly vary (in my mind) in quality and how they advance the plot and character development.

"The Beach" has its moments, but my reaction is that it's one of the weaker episodes of the season. Simply. Too. Much. Angst. ;)

It doesn't help that it's bookended by 2 of the best stand-alone episodes of the season: "Sokka's Master" (which gives some much-needed character development beyond being the 'meat and sarcasm guy' and introduces one of my favorite incidental characters of the series, Piandao) and "The Avatar and the Firelord" (which is filled with history and background info, some of which is hinted at in narnian1's spoiler above. Not to mention the awesome shot of Roku bending all 4 elements at once).

"The Awakening" (season 3 premiere) did a good job summarizing the events at the end of season 2 and what's happened in the meantime. There's some great juxtaposition in the reunions of Katara and Zuko with their respective fathers: Hakoda is truly proud of his child and missed her; Ozai is more concerned with his son's alleged takedown of the Avatar.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

*is curious to see what Shadowlander will think of the later seasons of Smallville* Certain parts, especially. And that's all I'll say about that, or I'll ruin it. ;))

I watched the show since it started... but there would be times from season three (?) on, when for various reasons (being in a play, for instance), I would miss lots of episodes. Maybe I should just buy all of the seasons, and watch them. (I already have season one, and want certain episodes anyway)

Warrior 4 Jesus- Stargate SG-1 does get better. (not that I totally despised the first season, but I do like the later ones better)

Here's a question, to those who have seen most of, if not all of the seasons: Which ones do you like better: the ones with Jack? or the ones with Cam and Vala? I think they are about tied for me. It's hard to choose.

I know this show hasn't been on since I was a little bitty kid (think, toddler years), but I've been watching a lot of it on tv reruns (which have since not been happening, the last several days :( ), and on hulu (where I have seen lots of it, since they have all the seasons)... the A-team. Anyone else like that show?

The more I watch of it, the more I want to talk about it. Dad is sick of me bringing it up, and I don't really know of many others (if any) that have seen it. So, it'd be cool if I could talk of it on here...

Well, my wife and I just polished off Season 5. She's got Season 6 on hold from the library so it may be some time before we continue.

- I still maintain Lana is the biggest villain in the show. You expect the other villains to behave like they do because they're villains and they work on a certain code. Sometimes they can hurt a person physically, but Lana hurts emotionally, and that's far more harmful to a person, I think.

Spoiler
She and Lex can have each other, for all I care. They deserve each other.

-

Spoiler
Jor-el...is he good or bad? I'm not sure, but he definitely comes across as a stinker.

- Sometimes I get the feeling that Clark manufactures reasons to dislike Lex. Lex bends over backwards for Clark and Clark rudely rebuffs him. Dweeb.

- My wife was sad over

Spoiler
the death of Jonathan Kent. I tried to tell her that it was meant to be, that it was this incident which was one of the cornerstones of what solidified Clark Kent into Superman.
It had to happen, sad as that may be. A number of comic books use the same plot device for heroes.

- I love the cameo by Tom "Luke Duke" Wopat, complete with a 69 Charger that he and Schneider spent a lot of time together in The Dukes of Hazzard. Yeeeeeeee-haw! I only wish they'd have been able to put in a role for Enos Strait. ;))

- Sometimes the show can be kinda wearying. With each episode there's an even chance you can just skip it, but because there's an underlying plot arc that's constantly developing you can't easily do so for fear of missing that super important 2 minute stretch when so and so finds out such and such about Clark, or so and so inadvertantly sets in motion something that will be super important later. *sigh* Makes me miss the 1st season a little bit. ;))

- The Fortress of Solitude...

Spoiler
aptly named, as Clark barely ever goes there and it sits by itself in the middle of nowhere most of the time.

Jonathan Kent:

Spoiler
Actually, he only died recently in the comic books. I'm not sure if he died in the Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths timeline, but in the current universe he lived for a good ten years into Clark's Superman career.

Definitely the Jack ones. Cam and Vala were just incredibly annoying for me personally. As soon as Jack left I just lost interest in SG1. Which is a huge shame because it was one of the best shows.

I'm not against new additions to the cast. I totally loved Jonas Quinn. He was an awesome sub for Daniel. I wish he had come back to do a few more episodes. But anyway I just couldn't stand watching Cam and Vala. And I just could not get my head around the whole Vala/Daniel romance. :-

Jack/Sam: Yeah. Totally cool. B-)
Daniel/Vala: Er... =;

What do you mean it gets better? :-o :p I think Seasons 1-8 were pretty amazing. Once they started on the Ori, it just got a little weird. Made me miss the Goa'uld. :D

Avatar: Book 3: Fire: The Day of the Black Sun

:-ss

This episode has me anxious. Don't know what to think or feel. All around it's going great.

Spoiler
Aang just found out the Fire Lord isn't not there where he expected, Sokka taking command, Zuko going to make things right (but how?), Zuko's uncle (can't remember name right now) looks to be escaping "tonight".

and now onto part 2.

EDIT:

Spoiler
Love's Zuko's choice. It is proving me right so far that he could be a tragic hero. Wants his uncle back, and told his father he was going to join the avatar- THAT will come at a price, I know. They lost this battle however, which doesn't surprise me since there is still quite a bit to go in the season but it is disappointing
:(

Yeah, I admit it got a little weird once the Ori thing started, but how could anyone miss the Goa'uld?! :-o Besides, you know who was freakier than either of them? Stargate: Atlantis' Wraith. :p

Hey, I loved the show too! All I was saying, was that just like with lots of shows, season one was kinda... shaky. (for lack of a better term. and that seasons 2-the end were better) In the first season of shows, the actors are still trying to get to know their characters. And the actors and audience aren't quite sure where the show will lead them. Doesn't make first seasons bad, some of them are still great. It just means that by a second season, the actors have a better feel for their parts, so they can portray them better... and the writers fall into a rhythm that works more smoothly.

For instance, someone, I think Booky, commented on TNG's first season. I'll admit that the acting got better after season one. However, unlike most fans, I don't hate season one. Actually, some of my favourite episodes come from that season! :))

Does that make sense?

*is loving Shadowlander's comments on Smallville* ;))

Out of curiousity, which ones? Season 1 was pretty rough for TNG, as it is for a lot of series. The actors hadn't really gotten totally into their roles yet and the plots tended to overreach a bit. I liked the one with the Stargazer in it (the ship, not the mod ;)) ), and the one where they get locked inside the holodeck while doing one of Picard's noir detective programs. The rest of em' were really quite bad.

Out of curiousity, which ones?

Well, a few things to keep in mind, before I say which ones:
1) Remember, I was only 4 years old when the show started. So part of it could be that I was young, and that I have good memories of sitting down to watch it with my parents.
2) I know most people don't like Wes, but for a kid like me, it was neat just to see a kid on the ship. Plus, like I said in the long ago SF on Trek... I was always jealous of how smart he was, and how he got to fly the ship!
3) When I say "Favourites", I don't know how much weight that holds... because I always have a hard time narrowing down anything. ;)) I mean, for crying out loud, I have at least five favourite episodes in each season of TNG!

My list, for Season 1:
Where No One Has Gone Before- We meet the Traveler! And I don't know, I just always liked it.
The Battle- One of the ones you mentioned... the one with Picard's old ship, the Stargazer.
The Big Goodbye- The first time we see Picard as "Dixon Hill". Neat concept all 'round.
*Datalore- I liked learning more about Data and his "family". Wasn't this the one with the funny "Shut up, Wesley" bit? (even though I like him, that WAS funny)
*When the Bough Breaks- The whole concept was interesting. It was nice to see Wes interacting with other kids (vs grownups, like usual). And I loved that Picard would not leave without the children... that even he, the one that "doesn't like kids" felt them an important enough part of the ship's family, as to save them.
Home Soil- Don't know why, for this one. It was just interesting. It actually helped give me a sci-fi story idea. (that hasn't become anything yet)
Coming of Age- We learn more about the Crushers, and their friendship with Picard. And it was interesting to learn that Wesley's greatest fear was that he couldn't make that choice (the one Picard did)... but that he survived it in the test. (making him stronger. kinda a lesson teaching moment for him, as well as me) Plus, it was cool that he risked winning the slot at the Academy to help a new friend. Shows good character, if you ask me.
Heart of Glory- GREAT Worf episode. Loved his speech to the other Klingon about what honor and glory and all that stuff really is.

I like the rest of the season too, but those were the "best". You all don't have to agree with me, and you probably won't. But, that's the great thing about friends... you don't always have to agree about everything. (but can still be there for one another)

*means the ones I like best... outta the ones I like best. ;))

Edit: Oh, great! Now I wanna make a similar list for seasons 2-7! =))

I loved the addition of Vala to the cast, but I thought that Cam was kind of boring and the show went down in quality those last few seasons. Though Adria was a fantastic villain and so was Ba'al. He's easily my favorite Goa'uld.

Spoiler
I'm still annoyed they killed off the the Asgard.
