I watched the Doctor Who episode "The Pandorica Opens" and was struck by how much the last minute or so reminded me of Lost. The music was similar and they even used a lot of slo-mo. Not sure if it was deliberate imitation or what, but it made me laugh a little. Kept expecting Jack to show up and start whining and bossing people around.
Ha ha! I noticed that too Bookwyrm. The final two episodes aren't Stephen Moffat's best work but they're still pretty good.
I'm currently watching the anime series - Serial Experiments Lain. The animation is rather limited but it's very interesting and incredibly atmospheric. It's about how society is becoming more connected (eg. the Internet) but how people are more than ever disconnected from those around them. The series is psychologically and philosophically heavy. It's an entertaining but cautionary tale about needing to master a technology before letting it 'power' our lives. To not get caught up in the other life on the Internet. Other themes include: identity, God (not a Christian understanding but still interesting), existence, life and death.

Anyone here start the new show: Covert Affairs?
Last week was the first episode, I missed it so saw it on hulu, second episode airs tonight. It's from the producers of The Bourne Trilogy.
I rather enjoyed last week's episode, and it's been stuck in my mind since I saw it on Sunday, so I am anxious for this week's which starts in an hour.
Is that the one with Piper Perabo as the CIA agent? I might check that one out, looks like it might be good.

yes that's the one. I probably should have been more detailed on my post
I watched Covert Affairs the other night too. It's pretty okish. I liked White Collar better though.
Team Edward and Team Jacob are overrated. I'm Team Avatar!

Never seen White Collar myself actually, but I just queued it, Sn 1, on Netflix to check it out some time.
I thought Covert Affairs was good, but I still like White Collar better. But I think Covert Affairs will get even better as the show goes on, the characters are great (Auggie's hilarious ) and the plots are pretty good (the second episode really surprised me at the end).
I have to say though, I like Psych better than both White Collar and Covert Affairs it's just so clever and funny.

Covert Affairs could grow on me-- I've seen the first two, and, while they had potential they were a little meh, but I think I'm going to keep watching just because of Auggie, though. He's a really awesome character.
However, it has a disadvantage because it comes on after White Collar, which I think is my favorite show right now. Caffrey and Burke have such an amazing chemistry. *points at her siggie* And this season has been starting off great. The first episode was especially awesome. And I love the fact that Peter and Elizabeth are married and show marriage in a positive light, a thing that is unfortunately quite rare in most tv shows. I really enjoy their scenes together.
And Psych is my happy pill. It comes on Wednesdays at ten, which means I'm kind of tired from church and such, and therefore slightly delirious. So I basically laugh the whole way through. Sure, it's kind of a dumb show but it's good and clean and funny. I love how it doesn't take itself seriously.

My wife brought home Smallville: Season 1 from the library so we've been diving into that for the past week when we can. It's not the greatest show but it's not bad.
Here's a breakdown on how the average episode pans out.
1. A random teen you've never seen before the current episode and will never see after it gets infected by meteor rocks
2. Teen gets superpowers
3. Teen terrorizes everyone, but usually has an eye on either Lana or Chloe (Chloe is a real weirdo magnet)
4. Clark figures it out and fights random Teen
5. The fight happens someplace with kryptonite so Clark gets all weak and flails around a bit
6. Clark gets thrown through a wall (and thus away from the kryptonite) and inflicts a beating on his nemesis of the week
7. Clark ruminates on the stars outside his barn-borne bedroom and pines over Lana. Chloe grimaces in the background.
8. Rinse, repeat
Most of the first part of Season 1 followed this basic formula...it was unreal. We finished it and my wife brought home Season 2 and it appears to have at least changed course and become a soap opera with sci-fi elements in it. It's not a bad show, but it's not the greatest either. I hope it gets better as it progresses. Final note: Lex Luthor is ridiculously likeable and it pains me that he's going to become evil at some point.

Smallville is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's fun but not excellent TV. Still there are some diamonds to be found amongst the rubbish. I reckon Season 6 may be my favourite overall. Chloe is easily my favourite character in the series - so cute! Lana Lang is beautiful but annoying. Chloe all the way!

I have to agree with you there, W4J. When Allison Mack smiles her whole face lights up in a way that makes me think, "My, she's genuine article". I'm not an expert on the Superman mythology and I'm only in Season 2 but I know that Clark is destined to eventually end up with Lois Lane before all is said and done. And the sooner the better because this whole (extremely unrealistic) Lana/Clark "let's be friends and look longingly at each other for years on end" thing is getting quite old. Chloe is definitely the better choice.

I admit to also seeing room for improvement, but the potential is definitely there so I will invest in it and hope it last past season 1, and even 2 and 3. And I also agree, Auggie is an awesome character!
Shadowlander, glad you agree with me mate. Unfortunately Lois Lane only comes into the picture much later but when she does, it's a welcome breath of fresh air. Pity the series milks the Clark and Lana moments for all they're worth. Clark, you idiot. Chloe's the girl for you! (And I'm not just saying that before she's amazing, okay, yes, I am.

Shadowlander, pretty much agree with everything you said about Smallville. I've only watched the first three seasons, but the Lana/Clark thing really irritated me. Lana is quite possibly one of the most annoying love interest characters I've ever come across, if not the most. Clark is an annoying doormat. Lex is cool and a lot more interesting than Clark. Chloe is awesome.
I decided to go ahead and watch Covert Affairs last night and enjoyed it. Some fun characters (Auggie especially) and the potential to have a good storyline. It was also cool to see some familiar faces from So Weird, Invasion, and Smallville.
