Yeah I didn't too much care for some of the 80's ones either. I loved the theme music to it and the ghost car that can take you back in time was my favorite one. I have about four favorite episodes from the the 80's Twilight Zones, the rest of them are just weird.

The 80s Twilight Zone revival series did feature scripts from some big names in sci-fi and similar genres: Harlan Ellison, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, and Stephen King, among others.

Rather ironically, several episodes reflect a Cold War mentality similar to the original (due perhaps to several proxy wars then in progress around the world). Examples include the pilot episode "A Little Peace and Quiet" - which was a remake of the original series episode "A Certain Kind of Stopwatch" - in which

Spoiler
a woman finds a necklace that freezes time. The episode shows their daily lives but always with international tension in the background. Finally, a nuclear exchange occurs, and she stops time. The last shot shows an ICBM over a theater marquee featuring Fail Safe and Dr Strangelove.

Another apocalyptic episode was "Shelter Skelter" in which

Spoiler
a man becomes trapped in his own fallout shelter, convinced the world has been destroyed - when in actuality there was a nuclear accident nearby, that knocked out all his high-tech gadgets.

Another episode was a TV version of the classic Clarke short story, "The Star," in which future space explorers discover the source of the Star of Bethlehem. The written version is far more memorable than this TV adaptation!

On the whole, though, this iteration of the original series wasn't up to the standards of its forerunner.

Incidentally, there was yet another attempt to revive TZ in 2002. Despite some interesting episodes and a few more remakes of original series episodes, this version disappeared even more quickly than the 80s one.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Any fans of The Golden Girls here?
Some sad news, a third golden girl passed away this morning, Rue McClanahan.
in 2008 it was Estelle Getty, last year it was Bea Arthur. Bette White is the only golden girl left. :(

I love the Golden Girls. I didn't know so many had passed away already, that's kinda sad.

Yes I knew that a few episodes of The Twilight Zone had to do with remakes or how directors got a few ideas for movies. I do the same with my screenwriting skills sometimes. They are the best. ;)

Glee is the one I am trending right now but I am trying to look for other ones because Glee is kind of like, many like them and trying to be like them, and it kinda irritates me. (no offense) :D.

Any suggestion guys of other shows? I bet you guys know a lot and I would love to hear/read them!

I rented The Twilight Zone, Vol 1.
I noticed the volumes aren't arranged in the order in which they were aired on tv. The disc brings 3 episodes:

1. Night of the Meek-
I really enjoyed the episode. It was nice to see John Fiedler in this, (he's the actor who voices Piglet). It's a Christmas episode. Art Carney was terrific with the lead. :D

2. The Invaders-
A one woman episode, Agnes Moorehead (best known for her role as Endora in the sitcom Bewitched), this was rather interesting. Slower paced, but worth the watch!

3. Nothing in the Dark-
Robert Redford and Gladys Cooper are in this one (the early days of his career while the later days of hers). nice episode. :)

I remember The Invaders. That was a great episode! Wait your volume 1 that you rented came with one disc? My aunt has all The Twilight Zones on DVD and almost every volume has about 4-8 discs.

Netflix has a bunch of "volumes", I saw 43. I've queued 10 "volumes" so far and all are just 1 disc, and are not in year order either. It doesn't make much sense to me either. I'm just going with it. :p

This discussion of older shows sure brings back childhood memories!

I received the following in an email from a fellow Lostie. This tongue-in-cheek snippet contains finale spoilers!

Lost Explained in 3 Seconds

SandyEntersNarnia, how far are you into LOST?

Stargazer, ha, ha! That's good. Wasn't that LOST finale clip on JK Live? Poor Vincent! ;)

Narnia1, that is so weird.
Here in Australia, The Twilight Zone, Season 1 is spread across 6 DVDs (I think that's 36 episodes, total) and the first episode is Where is Everybody? followed by One for the Angels and Mr Denton on Doomsday etc. Is that chronological order, or not?

Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11

Warrior, that little clip wasn't on the JKL episode that aired the night of the Lost finale, though it could have aired on there another time. It wouldn't surprise me too much since he really seemed to like Lost.

Enjoy Lost, Sandy. Feel free to share your speculations and questions here.

Warrior, those episodes are in chronological order (here's an online guide by chronological order).

That reminds me: I also recommend The Twilight Zone Companion by Marc Scott Zicree. I received the first edition years ago as a gift; it contains a list of cast, opening and closing narration for each episode, a brief plot summary, and (usually) trivia about the episode. Not quite as handy now as it was in the days before TV on DVD or the internet, but still a nice resource. (For some odd reason, the episodes aren't listed in order of air dates, though the dates are given. I wonder if the 2nd edition is different).

EDIT: In the US, all TZ episodes are available (in order, I believe) on the Complete Definitive Collection, a 28-disc set. A friend has this set and we have our own TZ Marathons on occasion. Not sure this helps Down Under, however.

yeah, these Volumes in Netflix aren't complete seasons nor in chronological.
Vol 1- 1962
Vol 2- 1963
Vol 3- 1962
Vol 4- 1961

and so on, (all just one disc)...
I am assuming this is just a collection of favorite episodes. When I search for FULL season I only get two options: The 00's version and the 80's version. I'm sure I could buy the seasons in their proper order- but I'm fine watching it like this, for now at least.

EDIT:

So I just found out Oscar the Grouch was originally orange!
