Does anyone watch American Idol?

I was so happy to see that Lee DeWyze won. I think he really deserved it because he was the main purpose of what the show was really about and that was growth. He really started out nervous with a good singing voice and these past four weeks he's really grown and it's great to see some one like him win ;) :D

What are your thoughts?

Happy with both of the finalist on AI, glad Lee won though. It really improved throughout the season.

On other topic:
I originally wasn't interested in the upcoming movie: The Last Airbender,
but its latest trailer worked well for me.

I just started to watch the animated series, Book 1. First episode was great, and I'm enjoying the second one just as much. Can't believe I hadn't started this series before, I just assumed it wasn't good for some reason.

Yes the animated Last Airbender series are really good. It's been two years since I've seen them. I'm thinking about getting them on DVD tomorrow.

I don't watch American Idol regularly, but some friends do, so I've heard occasional comments about the competition. They were also pleased by this year's winner.

narnian1, I also enjoyed the animated Avatar series. On the whole it's well-animated with lots of plot and character development. I haven't watched season 1 as much as seasons 2 and 3 however. Minor series spoiler:

Spoiler
Aang's rather goofy at the start of the series but becomes more serious as the significance of his role as the Avatar becomes clearer.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I'm wondering if that'll play into his character in the movie. Aang I meant. ;) i't's been a while and I still haven't gotten the seasons on DVD yet.

Any fans of The Golden Girls here?
Some sad news, a third golden girl passed away this morning, Rue McClanahan.
in 2008 it was Estelle Getty, last year it was Bea Arthur. Bette White is the only golden girl left. :(

Yes I love The Golden Girls! :D :D :D

I love Rose and Dorothy the best, they are so hilarious and love how they go head to head on things and Rose gets so dingy. I love it. Betty White is awesome I love her. :)

I've been watching the first season of The Twilight Zone (the original series). I've seen some of the episodes before but not many. There are some very good ones. It's not surprising that many of them have a ambience of paranoia (this was during The Cold War after all).

I've also been watching everyone's favourite sarcastic teen outcast - Daria. This series is very witty and well-written but it's not for children. PG for mild language and teenage themes.

Ah! The Twilight Zone, I never did get into the show, but there was ONE episode I saw in school- years later the show was on tv, and it just happened to be the same episode. I loved it! Only one episode have I seen.

I LOVE the Twilight zone! :D We have all of them on DVD! The first one I ever saw was the episode “The Howling Man”, I Love that episode!
Every year on the Sci Fi channel they do a 48 hour Twilight Zone marathon for New Year‘s Eve, we keep them all on all day and all night, it‘s great tradition for us! :)
@Warrior 4 Jesus: Is this your first time watching the Twilight Zone or are you going back to re-watch them? :- :)

Yes, it's a great series. It's my first time watching the series. I've seen six or so episodes before on YouTube but that's it. They're very thought-provoking. The only downside is that the space exploration episodes seem quite dated and we don't have the same sense of wonder about space now as they did back then.

We also watch the Twilight Zone marathon (or at least have it on in the background) on New Year's Eve.

I was very young when the series first aired, and generally my parents wouldn't let us watch such a scary show. But sometimes we caught a few episodes when visiting our cousins' house. ;)

Episodes I remember from way back when include "Thursday We Leave For Home" (one of the 4th-season hour long shows; I remember especially the double-sun shot) and "Midnight Sun" -

Spoiler
in which the earth seems to be getting closer and closer to the sun, but just when the heat becomes unbearable, the main character wakes up. She's had a fever, and the earth is really drawing away from the sun. Nice irony typical of some of the better episodes

Watch for a fun ending to the season 1 finale!

As Warrior mentions, a number of episodes provide indirect windows into the mindset of the times: The Cuban Missile Crisis, the Berlin Wall, and so on - these were on everyone's mind at the time, and TZ provided a way to address those fears in a fictional way.

I love the Twilight Zone. It's the number 1 best series to me that was made back in the day. i sometimes get a few ideas and twist them around when I write stories and such. They are some of the best ideas ever. Have any of you seen the 80's versions as well? I think they are okay.

I used to watch the Twilight Zone quite a bit. In fact, it's funny this show comes up here now, I just watched the classic episode "To Serve Man" not 3 days ago on Sci-Fi. ;)) My favorite episode of it was "Terror at 20,000 Feet" with Shatner..."it's out there on the wing! Can't you see it?!". Great stuff.

That was a good episode but the creature was rather fake looking. I prefer the episodes that played on the mind, without showing any creepy creatures.

Yes, I've seen some of the 80's Twilight series but found it to be awful.
