Wait, so she's only 16? I thought she was older. Besides, Itaril is supposed to be "17-27". Or is that just what age she needs to look like? Or is that a fake casting sheet?

^^ I think it's just an approx. age. I've seen casting directors go a little higher or lower than the aprrox. age if they find someone they really like. She's only a year off.

Actually she will be Seventeen on April 12th this year so she will be the right age.
Thanks for the link Ithilwen!
I figured it would be a lighter film, since it is a lighter book. I Can't Wait!

He's adding a lot of new characters? That makes me nervous. I would think he would have enough to do to develop the characters of the dwarfs. I'd rather things stay close to what Tolkien wrote.
The article said "unofficial casting call sheet" I'm not sure exactly what that means but I would take the description with a grain of salt.

EDIT: Btw, 7chronicles, your signature is one of my favorite Lewis quotes.
Thanks! I Love that quote! It's hard to pick a favorite quote from C.S. Lewis, but that is definitely one of my top favorites.

I don't think he is adding a bunch of new characters but rather characters that didn't apper in The Hobbit book orginally.
(In the interview she says: “Pete is adding a lot of characters in the film adaption,”)
Like Radagast the Brown, Galadriel, and Saruman, who if I remember correctly were not mentioned in the book, but were present at The White Council, which is where Gandalf went after leaving Bilbo and the Dwarfs at the entrance of Mirkwood forest.
I can't remember where I read it, but I thought when it was decided that The Hobbit was going to be split into two films one of the reasons given was that Tolkien wrote about other events that took place in The Hobbit but they were written in some of the other Lord of the Rings books that were written later. Take it with a grain of salt because I can't find the interview, but I just thought it was worth mentioning.

7chronicles, I don't remember where the exact article is either, but I do remember reading a summary of it on theonering.net somewhere...
not to derail the conversation topic, but the other day my friends and i were watching the trilogy and were wondering: how can hobbits eat all that food and not get fat? (i.e. merry and pippin eating all those lembas, second breakfast, etc...) we came up with three ideas. 1. they're digestive system is different than ours 2. they don't have the 'modern technology' (planes trains and automobiles) so they walk everywhere and walk off their meals or my personal favorite 3. it goes to their feet.... any other ideas?

^^ I think the reason why the movie Hobbits don't get fat is because Peter Jackson didn't want the actors to wear a big fatsuit.
As for the book Hobbits, Tolkien writes that Hobbits are generally fat. But you're right. If their digestion wasn't at least a little different, they would all be ridiculous balloons. Or dead from a heart attack. I think it's the digestion one, since they are different creatures than humans, after all. I doubt it's the walking one, since Hobbits mostly stay in their homes, being lazy in the Shire. And if it all went to their feet, their feet would be so fat, they would be unable to walk.

I'm really hoping all this stuff about love interests doesn't mean this new character is Legolas' One True Love. A. I hate non-canon characters being introduced as canon characters' love interests. It smacks of fanfic Mary Sues and B. whatshername is entirely too young to be playing Orlando Bloom's OTL. That's just creepy. Unless we're talking recasting of Legolas, which opens up a whole separate can of worms.

I'm pretty sure she's not the love interest of Legolas. According to all I've heard, Legolas has only a small cameo, whereas I think Itaril's character has a longer role. So it's doubtful they would be lovers.

If they are lovers...I hope you're right, Riella (which you probably are ) because I can't stand the though of...ugh!
The Hobbit movie:
LEGOLAS: Itaril, my love, blah blah blah, smooch smooch smooch.
LotR:
Aragorn: So that's why you let me have Arwen without a fight.

Andy Serkis in his motion capture suit for Gollum!
It's so Awesome to know that The Hobbit is actually being filmed right now!
Can't wait to see what Bilbo and the Dwarfs look like in costume!

Yeah, Andy Serkis is back!!
Sort of off topic but how old are all these actors/actresses now? I hope they don't look too old. I mean Frodo was played by a 20-year-old and now he'll be played (supposedly in the same time period) by a- what, thirty-one-year-old?

Love the Tom Bombadil video. Not even Sauron can stop him from dancing.
Please don't throw tomatoes at me but I finally saw the first LOTR movie a few weeks ago (as I wanted to know what made it so great) and I understand now.
Aww, we'd never throw tomatoes at you for watching LotR! Out of curiosity, did you watch the theatrical version or the extended?
I've already said what I think of Itaril, so I won't repeat it again. But at this point, I'm wondering if she's actually going to be in it since according to the article Sairose Ronan doesn't know if she's going to be in the movie or not yet. Besides, it was an unofficial casting call sheet. Of course I could be wrong......
Some new on-set pics have been posted, including one they think might be of Martin Freeman as Bilbo! Here's the link -- http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2011/03 ... -as-bilbo/
