I know! I recently got done watching all of the bonus features on the LotR dvds and then saw hobbit pictures and had to do a double take! He looked much more hobbit-y then and more like big people ( ;) ) now

Hmmmm are there really that many differences in the house? I mean from what I spot it's more like a different mood. LotR Bag End looks a little more worn down while the hobbit one has a bit more warm colors to it... otherwise it looks more like the pictures are in different parts of the house... or is that just me being unobservent? :-

@outlier: Now that you mention it, your right, it is more of a difference in the house's age then the design itself.
And after looking harder at it I noticed that the newer picture on the left seems like it was taken closer up then the one on the right.

Not to mention that the newer picture looks sharper, almost as if the first wasn't digitally graded (or whatever that process that they used on the movies to make certain colors stand out more)... and I'm not sure, but I it looks like they're taken in different parts of the house

I looked at them and saw hardly any differences. Maybe I didn't look close enough. It looks to me like it's the same spot only zoomed in a little farther. The bench he's sitting on is different but again, it's sixty years difference. I've known people who've replaced their furniture after only fifteen or twenty years. The set looks a little bigger too. In the 2001 picture, his knees almost stick up as if the bench he's sitting on is too small for him. In the 2011 picture, he looks like he fits into the picture perfectly and could be a hobbit himself. :p

@outlier: I don't think it was taken in a different part of the house because the fire place, cabinet and window, are in the same spot, but it could just be me. :p

@narnian_at_heart: Yes I agree after I looked at it again it defiantly looks like the picture was zoomed in more. :)

:D for posting PJ's 2001/2011 comparison photo, 7chronicles. When it was released, I put it up as my computer wallpaper for the interest of all passerbys. ;))

This is a fun read as to "Who May Return" (see all 15 pages, each of which are quite brief). I do enjoy the humour they use.

Is anyone else getting together with other Tolkien fans this weekend for the annual Tolkien Reading Day? It is officially on the 25th (the day the Ring went into Orodruin, resulting in Sauron's demise). The Smial I'm involved with, the Wellinghall Smial, is meeting this Saturday at a British-type pub for lots of good, conversation, inevitable laughs, and, of course, readings of our favourite JRRT passages. This year the Tolkien Society in the UK has chosen "trees" as the theme. I have yet to choose my passages, but there is no lack from which to pick in Tolkien's books! (Note: sometimes the Events Page link is down on FB, so be patient and try again if you encounter this problem.)

EDIT: Btw, 7chronicles, your signature is one of my favourite Lewis quotes. :)

I did manage to get the voting thing to work. :)
Thanks for the link to the Who might return. It was funny.
I'm glad they are finally filming the Hobbit. :D

Going back a page or two: A good Dwarf is never without at least two axes. :p

As to voting between LWW and The Hobbit, I can't choose. But when it comes right down to it, Middle Earth is a place I'd love to visit, but I'd rather live in Narnia.

LWW is out of the running. :( The Hobbit is still in but is a little behind Silverwing. This time I voted for the Hobbit since LWW was gone.

GB, grand to see you! :D

Glad you figured out the voting, PP. :)

A Silver Leaves journal friend just posted this fun video—The Intoxicating Influence of Tom Bombadil—on our FB wall: it is hilarious!!! :))

Like I commented there ... ;)) I am still laughing 'ring a dong dillo' heartily. I was terribly curious how Sauron was going to react, and guess he figured if you can't lick 'em, join 'em. :P Rather unexpected, lol. Loving how good ol' Tom danced his way through the massive orc armies and right up to the head honcho, probably singing all the way "Hey! Come derry dol! Hop along my hearties!"

=)) that was funny Jo! So random, but yeah pretty awesome

For anyone who watched this week's 'hobbit in 5' (more like hobbit in 7 :p ) were you able to solve the riddle? I tried to figure it out, but it was going too fast for me to digest it...

Please don't throw tomatoes at me but I finally saw the first LOTR movie a few weeks ago (as I wanted to know what made it so great) and I understand now. I could never get into the books.
The movie was pretty violent in a few parts, but the violence supported the story. It was a really well-made film.

As for the age of the house, like everyone has been saying, the one for the TH looks much more new and hospitable than the one that was in LOTR, which always looked... unsettling and unorganized, which I'm sure PJ did for a reason.

I found out on TORN that PJ is adding multiple new characters to the Hobbit movies, and that the film will be lighter than LOTR. We also get a glimpse into Itaril's character. Here's the link -- http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2011/03 ... -adaption/
