johobbit posted the link... no one's just commented on it yet
Anyways, considering the context of how they say it's going to be in there, I think it'll work quite nicely.

Ah HA! There it is. Thanks outlier! And yeah, I agree, it will be very interesting to see that particular character in the movie.
Elijah Wood will be in ‘The Hobbit’ (and we know how!)
Woa. Was not expecting that. Still, it makes sense since Hobbit is being made as the prequel rather than LotR being made as the sequel. It could be a good way to tie the stories together.
I started rereading LotR today (I've only been planning to do it since October!). I noticed afresh how much more leisurely the book is over the movie. I like both, but they have different flavors. Anyhow, Frodo, Sam, and Pippin just hid from a mysterious Black Rider on their way to Buckland. Hopefully I'll get to Mordor and back before school starts!
I'm rather surprised nobody has mentioned the semi-big piece of news that has surfaced.
SpoilerFrodo is gonna be in the movie?!?!
I heard that. I don't know how I feel. It seems to me to be a little too much like having
I like that Legolas is going to be in it! I do love Legolas (but I'm not a fangirl), so I am happy that he'll be in it.
I like the idea of Legolas being in the Hobbit, since it makes more sense then not having him.
Though I don't see how they're going to have Frodo in it since everything in the story happens roughly 30 years before he was born. I hope they don't give him too big of a part.
If you read the story that Jo linked up above (here it is again!), it will tell you pretty much exactly how Frodo will appear in the movie.
Yeah, I agree with narnian_at_heart... how it seems like he's in there for continuity... but I still think it'd be cool... and a flashfoward to LotR/ flashback while telling the story might be trippy...
7Chronicles posted about this in the future movies thread that Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis have signed on too!

The next two bits of news are that not
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/blogs/heat-vision/ian-mckellan-set-return-gandalf-69960
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
That's great! I really liked Gandalf in the movies.

Anyone know anymore on this?

Hmmmm well I saw that too, and it looks really cool (perhaps all four LotR hobbits will be in the same scene....) but the source looks sketchy...

Now THIS is new to me because I had heard that Christopher Lee would NOT be returning because of his poor health. But it seems now like he will be?

Which would be cool.
Now I don't want to sound mean here, but Hugo Weaving as Elrond was the only casting made in the LotR movies I was really unhappy about. Interestingly enough, I haven't heard anything about him returning aside from 'assumed'.... has anyone heard anything about Hugo returning? Rumor or otherwise?
As to the other casting rumors...
David Tennant as Thranduil. Never seen him except in Doctor Who clips. He strikes me as too hyper and twitchy for that role.
Dominic Monahan (and who are we kidding, if he returns, the rest of the hobbits from LotR are sure to as well), the more cameo returns, the more twitchy I get.... what will they cut from my beloved book to fit them in? But I'm staying open minded.

Really? I loved him as Elrond. Maybe that is because I had watched the movies before reading the books.
Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I love Hugo Weaving (have you ever seen V for Vendetta? Wow!), just not as Elrond.
Appearance was the first issue I took with him. Usually I don't judge by appearances in movies and TV, but Elrond is described in the book as being incredibly beautiful/handsome, and in my humble opinion, Hugo is just not that attractive.
The second problem (and the more important one) was his interpretation of the character. I couldn't separate his role in LotR from the Matrix. So whenever the line "You have only one choice. The ring must be destroyed" is delivered, all I hear is "Mr. Anderson. We've been expecting you." Same voice, same intonation, same inflection, same everything. Mr. Smith comes to Rivendell! I sit through those scenes either nearly dissolving into giggles or with my face in my hands.
The third problem was the way the character was written, which really wasn't Hugo's fault in any way, shape, or form, but it also didn't do anything to help me like him in that role.
