The word cinema is sometimes used here in America for movies collectively or for the movie industry in general. There is also the adjective cinematic. I guess it would be clearer to distinguish theaters designed to show films from those that have live plays by calling them movie theaters or cinemas to prevent confusion. But the people living here are used to American English, and it might cause confusion trying to change my words even though the UK English may be better and more accurate. I haven’t tried to change my Michigan accent either, although I am not always certain that my pronunciation of words is correct. 🙂
@narnian78 I don't think anyone should feel the need to "change" their words, as long as we all understand each other (with occasional explanations if necessary). I haven't changed my Aussie accent even after 13 years of living in the UK, but nobody seems to mind!
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."

I was wondering if old movie theaters are now regarded as obsolete. In my area they are often converted into small auditoriums which are used for something else. I guess the old fashioned projectors are removed since the technology is obsolete just like the projectors that were used in schools decades ago. I guess they will have to be repurposed in some way to prevent them from being razed. It seems like they should be preserved if possible. We have two old theaters in my area which no longer show films. A college was able to restore one of them as an auditorium, and the other was made into a dance floor. At least they can still be used for entertaining audiences.
Do you rewatch It’s A Wonderful Life during every holiday season? I think I have watched it at least once or twice a year for the past twenty years! I loved that movie so much that I can’t bear to be without it during Christmas or New Year’s Day. It’s just as good as Miracle on 34th Street , which was made in 1947 and the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. I play those movies at least once a year or twice if they have color and black and white versions. I can’t think of Christmas without them! 🙂
@narnian78 I'm hoping to watch It's a Wonderful Life sometime this coming week. It'd be great to watch Miracle on 34th Street too.
For better or worse-for who knows what may unfold from a chrysalis?-hope was left behind.

This is not your typical movie...
My mom and aunt went to see For King and Country's movie concert yesterday. Mom bought me a ticket and I went today because it leaves theaters like after tomorrow.
I haven't been to a theater since pre-2020 for a variety of reasons. I honestly wasn't sure I'd ever go back. As I got older, modern concerts are hard on my ears and my brain does not handle the current style of flashing lights that is popular.
This, I could handle. The lights were rough a couple of times but it was definitely worth the expense. Oh and it's available on Amazon and I bought a digital copy already. I may be slightly biased in favor of liking it because it was filmed at a very familiar location.
