Yeah, I sunk about 5mil gold into this area right off the bat buying supplies, particularly SB off of the Marketplace, because I felt the investment would be worth it. Of course that was before I realized that the boss mouse would drop all of the Crystal Crucibles needed...
I was not as lucky as Gymmie, I got my Behemoth on my third piece of Diamond cheese. Now I am farming the rest of the supplies needed for my trap and then after that it's back to gold farming for me.
I'm not feeling terribly confident for when Ronza arrives. And now I finally feel like she might get here soon what with all the snazzy and weird traps Jacob is drawing in Art FBF....
I'm not going to get in a hurry to get this new section done just yet. I'm currently back farming for gg cheese. I think my drop rate overall has slowed down. Not sure why. I'm going to aim for about double what I have now and then go back up from there.
kat, I definitely noticed a slower drop rate for minerals with my second batch of GG, but I haven't noticed much change in the Fungus and Nightshade.
fantasia, I think at least one of Jacob's drawings was supposed to be a trap skin, so maybe there won't be as many "must-haves" to buy this time around.

Well, Ronza didn't arrive the minute I had crafted my Rift Base, so now I'm farming gold - and having fun - in Burroughs Rift. Furoma is less fun
I have just over 12 mil gold at the moment, and I'm also farming Rift Circuitry - 20 so far - for the Multi-Crystal Laser trap. I have 280 Mist Canisters and get more of them dropped regularly, so I expect to stay there for a good while. And probably alternate with the WW Rift.
How much gold do I need? For Sunken City traps and Rift traps? About 50 mil - plus something for Ronza?

The Sunken City traps are about 30mil combined if I remember correctly. The Rift traps are 6.1mil each, ish, and then you have the Fissure Base and I don't remember how much that was.
I say, take it slow and don't stress. If working through the Rift areas is your immediate goal, focus on that. If you want to get the SC traps to help you in the Cavern, work on that. It'll all come together eventually.
The sunken city traps are eighteen mil a piece and that doesn't include the predatory processors.
^^ The first trap is 18mil but the second is *only* 11m. Hey, every bit counts right?
What I have found with almost all areas, unless you spend a ton of gold on things like SB from the Marketplace where you won't make a profit per hunt, you will easily make the gold to buy the traps while hunting for the supplies for them.
So really what it comes down to is which trap do you think is more beneficial to progressing through the game? And do you want to spend the gold in case Ronza shows up in the next month or two?
I made it through the entire FBF today, which was crazy long, but I did it in segments. Lots of good stuff in there on the new treasure maps. If you have the time to read through Dave's review, it's here...

Probably the biggest change that I'm excited about is that the Relic Hunter will no longer drop the LG map, just the standard ones that he's been dropping. But, they're adding 14 new area specific treasure maps (LG makes 15) that can be purchased with Relics from the Cartographer.
When I heard they were overhauling maps, I was afraid they were going to dumb down the maps, and I suppose in a way they kind of are, but not to the extent I was imagining.... so yay.
Dave said the EARLIEST we'll see this is in two weeks, but he figured it'd be a little bit longer than that.
He also said that the rest of this year will be comprised of another new high level area or two, and also updating existing areas/features. I guess they're going to overhaul the Toxic Spill. Anyways...
......
And on a personal note, I now have all of the Crystal Cruicibles, Diamonds, and Gemstones I need for my trap, so I'm currently farming GGC to get a very large quantity of Minerals. Hopefully I'll get my trap early next week.

Working through the Rift areas is my immediate goal. I'm in Brift at the moment, and it's such a nice change to make lots of gold again - half a mil over the last 36 hours. That's with more active hunting as well, and if I can hunt actively for a while, I should be able to build up a small Ronza fund as well as buy the final Rift trap (I'm using the Focused Laser at the moment, and I want to buy the Multi-laser as well) and the Fissure Base.
I enjoy the good catch rate, there are several mice I still want to bronze, I have plenty of Mist Canisters to go up and down or to stay at the top (red zone) for a while - I'm having fun
Sunken City can wait, other than shorter visits for variety - I'm working on bronzing the Barracuda, and then I might not need to resurface again for rather a long time (if at all).
I like what I heard about the area specific treasure maps - I guess I'll be doing lots of those when they are released

I got my Crystal Crucible trap last night while I was up at 1am taking care of my baby. It's quite a pretty trap I must say!
So next on my MH to-do list is to catch the Diamondback and farm supplies for the theme.
I had a handful of extra Crystal Crucibles from drops, so I sacrificed a few days of hunting so I could craft and sell off a few Diamond Boost charms...dude, those suckers were going at 1.6mil EACH. There was really no logical reason not to. I didn't have the gold for the trap at the time anyway, so now I am fully funded with a few million left over for other things.
I'm almost ready to recoup the Minerals I used on the charms, and then I'll be buying my trap. In the meantime, I'm heading back to the Sunken City to give my SOS trap a workout in a tourney, and then maybe back to the LG to finish up a Shattering Charm? We'll see!
ETA: Won the Gold trophy in the Deep Diving tourney! And also got an Ultimate Charm to drop as a bonus. I'm pretty happy with that.
Close to 3 mil gold over the last week - and that is after I've paid for cheese and charms.
I have 37 Rift Circuitry at the moment. As soon as I reach 50, I'll buy the Multi-Crystal Laser trap - I guess that will take me down to about 10 mil gold, but then I'll have a better trap to farm gold with in the green area. I spend quite a lot of time there, farming potions ...
Also I guess that's also a better trap for the WWRift, for working towards the Fissure Base. I'm really happy that I risked buying the Rift Base. Farming gold in BRift is more fun than hunting Sojos in Furoma

^^ You will probably earn your gold back faster with the MCL, so maybe buy it as soon as you're able? The BRift is one of the best places in the game for gold so might as well maximize it.
In other news, I got my Crystal Crucible trap! Now I'm just working on converting up my materials/cheese in the Cavern, wash, rinse, repeat. I'll do that for awhile until the new Maps come out, and then I'll be running around the Kingdom having fun! Looking forward to it.

Definitely as soon as I'm able. 39 Rift Circuitry, so I only need 11 - but I've run out of potions, so I'm back to using Brie String cheese again for a while.
PP cheese with the FCL in the red area gives some mice with amazing amounts of gold, but also a lot of red boxes. Will the better catch rate with the MCL in the green area give more gold over all? And with Terre Ricotta rather than PP cheese?
In other news, I got my Crystal Crucible trap!
Congrats! I won't reach that for a long time - but when I've got all I want in the Rift areas, it will be a fun place to go. I had a small taste of it and caught many of the mouse breeds there, but I didn't go into the deepest caverns.
