Today is Wednesday, November 6th in the year of our Lord 2024 and it's a great time to talk about thankfulness with Thanksgiving just around the corner in the United States of America.
Every year I start this thread the beginning of the month sometime in November with my favorite Thanksgiving tradition and a prompt to the share what you are thankful. My family has a jar (or two or three) that we fill with candy and nuts with each piece being for a different person, place, or thing we were thankful for. We call it "thankful fors". In recent years we have written them down and filled a notebook with the people, places, and things we are thankful to God for. Some days we have a theme like a favorite meal, places we have been, people we know, books, items around the house, or a few years ago we started drawing Scrabble tiles for several days and did our "thankful fors" starting with the letter drawn. The Scrabble tile draws have made for some great ideas and some bad ones, but mainly it has brought additional laughter to our family time. This has been our family tradition for over 20 years and I love it so much.
For those in the US, Canada, and other countries that have an official Thanksgiving Day:
- Do you usually have a traditional Thanksgiving meal (for example in the US - turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc.)?
- Do you have any favorite traditions or memories of Thanksgiving?
For all NarniaWebbers:
- What are you thankful for this year?
Christ is King.
I have a huge list...until I start typing. Anyway...I'm thankful for:
~my town
~my county
~my state
~the United States
~fall leaves
~rainy days
~lamps with warm bulbs
~silk scarves
~wool sweaters
~leather boots
~winter hats
~all of the military veterans
Christ is King.
After many hours in the kitchen, the pies are baked, the cranberry salad is chilling, the cheesy potatoes are prepped and in the fridge, and the brisket is cooking.
One of my sisters and I split the pie making this year, she made all the crusts and I made the fillings, and another sister made the topping for one of the pies. We made butterscotch pecan pie, sour cream blackberry pie, and pumpkin chiffon pie for tomorrow and a sour cream blueberry pie that was devour after supper this evening.
Looking forward to lots of good food and family time tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Wishing my American friends a wonderful Thanksgiving day and weekend!
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations. -Psalm 100

Happy Thanksgiving to my American Narnia web family!
And to my Narnia web family abroad who don’t have Thanksgiving where they’re at, happy Thanksgiving to you!

Thanks, @jasmine_tarkheena. Have a great day with your family!
We, as Canadians, celebrate our Thanksgiving the second weekend of October, a bountiful harvest time for us here. It is my favourite season/holiday, because of the focus on the deep gratitude we should have, daily, towards the Giver of all good gifts, and because of the utter lack of commercialism and unnecessary superficial stuff.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here who celebrates it! It's been a hard year but there's still so much good to be thankful for.
My whole family is sick so it's going to be a toned down, relaxing day at home. But those are my favorite days.
Sorry to hear of the sickness in your family, @starlit, at this special time of year. (So much is going around now!) But I hope it is a special day of relaxing together, regardless.

One of my uncles made a surprise trip to be with us this year. Due to his owning a small business in Mississippi, he doesn't get out of the state much. He managed to get down here in October for my grandmother's (his mom) shoulder replacement surgery and he showed up today and is staying until tomorrow morning. I am beyond thankful. I didn't get to see the rest of his family, but the fact he got to come is an amazing blessing.
A few years back, there was a FB trend to do a thing a day you were thankful for. I decided to do random things beyond the obvious. Things like NSAIDs and being able to be outside. It's made for a few fun posts
We had a lovely Thanksgiving with the exception of the cheesy potatoes spilling over in the oven due to a certain someone filling the pan rather full.
I'm very thankful that the butterscotch pecan pie, which I hadn't made for several years and is my oldest brother's favorite, turned out well. I was a little worried about making it, previously when I made it I had undercooked the pudding and the pie didn't set up properly. But all was well with the pies this year.
That's so neat that your uncle surprised you with a visit, @starkat.
