^^ I know, I thought that was hilarious!

You called it, Valiant_Lucy, regarding

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Gazer--I was just about to mention
I think it's kind of lame that

I enjoyed the finale a lot!
I noticed that
Also I'm surprised we didn't get to see
Okay. It's over and....

SpoilerMy understanding of it is that the entire island thing was a dream? Like pergatory? And that CHristian said they "needed eachother"? Is that why the whole thing happened?! How long were Hurley and Ben on the island for??
When I first started the show I thought
EDIT: I feel like a fool! Jimmy Kimmel's alternate endings were just made up comedy skits with the cast.
I'd been under the impression,
Perhaps it means those alive in the flash-sideways reality were in purgatory or whatever, since they were already dead - having died on the island in earlier seasons, or perhaps when Juliet detonated the bomb at the end of season 5.
I suppose that's one way of resolving the existence of "duplicate" characters in both realities at series' end (like Hurley and Ben, who do seem to survive on the Island).
I don't like a straight "they died" ending and everything since then is a dream or the afterlife (which seems different than what was done here); in my opinion it cheapens everything they've experienced in the meantime. Ditto for the "snowglobe" ending - a la St Elsewhere - which was referenced in-series by Desmond, and was denied once upon a commentary (season 2 I believe).
edit: yeah, what Gymnfan says more clearly in her post below.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
For whatever it's worth, here's some speculation on the finale that I think makes sense and may answer your question, Val.
That being said, it makes less sense as I type it. But I think it's the most plausible explanation, because it's the only way to NOT "erase" the entire show. But like I said, I don't really know. I'll have to watch the episode myself to see for sure.
ETA: 'gazer seems to have beaten me to the point, and has explained it far better than I could. Crazy, crazy show.
Okay, what you guys said definetly makes sense. I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I like this, I'm just trying to...well, wrap my head around it.

I don't want to know anything but this:
How many minutes long was the finale (excluding ads)?
Also, did the finale have a big-budget look?
Don't tell me anything spoilery. Thanks

Rest easy, Losties! The 'alternate' endings on JKL are humorous ones, with Darlton talking about "rejected" show endings which spoof Survivor, The Sopranos, and Bob Newhart.
Warrior, I thought the finale had a big-budget look. I was pleased with its appearance. I attempted to record it without commercials, and it's about 1:45 (105 minutes) in length, give or take a few.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Awesome! Thanks stargazer.
I'll have to check out JKL's special after I've watched the finale on Thursday night. I hope it's available somewhere.
Between uni and watching The Twilight Zone and Twin Peaks, I should be okay. Until then, I'll have to be extremely careful to stay away from spoilers.

yeah, i just edited my earlier post about these endings, to clear up before anything. I feel like a fool, I expected real fake endings, but it's better this way.
