this is a thread for fans of Cornelia Funke, author of the Inkheart trilogy, The Thief Lord, and more!

I have read all of the Inkheart books, seen the movie, and I love Inkheart, I sort of like Inkspell, and I don't much like Inkdeath..... :)
the movie of Inkheart is SO awesome! :)

I have read The Thief Lord and seen the movie and I love both!

I tried reading Dragon Rider but didn't get far.....I must try again!

I own the book Inkheart and the movie :)

I enjoyed the more unique premise of the Inkheart trilogy, however I must say there was too much swearing and other content for me to now truly enjoy them, and as such I haven't read them in almost a year now.

Aside from that, I've only read Ms. Funke's The Thief Lord, which was alright, but

I enjoyed the Inkheart movie, but I've only seen it once, and that was some time ago.

I agree! that's why I didn't much like that book! :)

has anyone heard the Inkspell audio book read by Brendan Fraser? it's totally awesome! Brendan Fraser reads it so well, and he does all the voices so well, I almost thought it was a multi cast audio book at one point! I love it! :D

FF, I had a problem with the end of The Thief Lord for about the same reason you mentioned having problems with Inkdeath. Not sure why it didn't bother me as much in that one.

Spoiler
I might have been more distressed by the fact that all the parts that seemed like they'd be cool were skipped over in favour of Meggie's dad and Dustfinger. Singing to giants is obviously way cooler than whatever it was that they were doing...;))

For the rest of it, details have slipped my mind. All I remember is that the names and premise were really cool, and Eleanor had an amazing library. :)

@ Mel:

@ Liberty: I haven't heard the audiobook version of Inkheart, interesting tho' that Brendan Fraser reads it, considering he acted Mo in the movie and Mo was based on him, was he not? :)

I love Inkheart, it took me forever to get around to reading Inkspell, but when I did I liked it, particularly the parts where

Spoiler
Farid, Meggie and Dustfinger are going after Mo and Resa.
Fenoglio got more and more annoying as the series went on..
Spoiler
in the end he was really only looking out for himself - it's a shame, I quite liked him at the beginning.

Inkdeath took me even longer to get around to reading, and it was ever so long. :p I don't really like the way the series was wrapped up.. especially the way that

Spoiler
some random new character was introduced that Meggie falls in love with after her and Farid being together for 2 and a half books. I felt so sorry for Farid, because it seems like everybody got a happy ending except him. :( I didn't mind hugely that they stayed in the Inkworld, although it would have felt better if they had all returned to Elinor's house in the end. After all of huge changes Mo and the others went through in Inkdeath though, I don't think they would have been able to return.

I've also read The Thief Lord and Dragon Rider, although I can't remember much of anything that happened in Dragon Rider, it was so long ago. ;)) I really liked the Thief Lord, although I agree with others that

Spoiler
the ending was a bit weird
.

I think it's amazing that I can get so much out of Cornelia Funke's writing even when it's been translated. It doesn't sound at all as if it has been.

I've watched the movie Inkheart.. it was okay, although I didn't like the changes to some of the characters, such as

Spoiler
Farid and Dustfinger. It feels like they didn't really capture what those characters were in the book, and Farid's part was so much more minor. Plus, they ended it with Dustfinger getting back to the Inkworld, which was just weird, and ruled out the possiblity of doing Inkspell. /:) Oh, and there was the whole thing with the writing on the people. That was odd. :p

I didn't know there was a movie of The Thief Lord, I'll have to check it out. :)

foreverFan: yes, it's pretty cool! and yes, Mo is based on Brenden Fraser! and he read the audio book for Inkspell long before the Inkheart movie came out :)

I did enjoy Inkheart and Inkspell - I haven't read Inkdeath yet. I liked the idea of the Silvertongues.

I enjoyed the Inkheart movie, on the whole, though the ending did seem to preclude making the next book in the series. One spoiler that comes early in the movie (if you have the subtitles on) is that

Spoiler
Resa is revealed immediately as being Mo's missing wife. While we can draw that conclusion while reading the book, the text itself doesn't telegraph that secret nearly so soon

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
