Liberty Hoffman, I haven't seen it, nor do I have any desire to, but that seems to be the general consensus from critics.
yes! I don't really want to see it.....I just wanted to see if anyone thought there was anything worth seeing in it......I agree with the critics and I have not even seen it!

I'm strongly considering going to see The Book of Eli or The Spy Next Door. I'm leaning towards the former at this point. I'm targeting going on Monday since I have that day off school.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
The Book Of Eli looks crazy.....I'm not sure if I want to see it!

Spy Next Door looks cute...one of those Daddy Daycare, The Pacifier, Spy Kids-type movies, done before but good for a laugh with the family once or twice. Though Jackie Chan might give this one some extra kick, no pun intended. I wouldn't spend money on it in a theater though.
Ugh, that Squeakquel. Right now in McD's we're giving those out in the happy meals...too many *parents* going ballistic because I gave them a Simon instead of the Theodore they wanted (whatever, I don't know the difference!!) have discouraged me from going near that movie. I don't feel I'm missing much.
I do really want to give Avatar a try on the big screen, since it's apparently rather worthless without a cool visual experience...I should get on that before it's gone.
I saw Avatar and loved it! But then I saw it again and thought it was so boring that me and all my friends were going to leave the cinema early!
I also saw Sherlock Holmes, which was fantastic! I loved the fighting scenes and the way it all turned out in the end! I feel smart now because I guessed half of it!
And I then I saw The Lovely Bones. After seeing the trailer, I went and borrowed the book, which was good. When I finally saw the movie, I loved it! But my mum and sister (whom I saw it with) didn't like it. They said it didn't have good closure at the end. But I liked it anyway. I advise anyone who loves a murder case, fantasy or tear jerker movie to watch it! And yes, I cried the whole way through!

All the world to ashes turning.
I got back from seeing The Book of Eli. I have to say, I was impressed. Action was excellent, even though it wasn't as much as I was expecting. Denzel Washington does an spectacular job as Eli, and even hides an aspect to him that you don't realize until the end. And that just makes his character even cooler. The movie is rated R, but I was surprised by the content. Language is actually very sparse (but too much for PG-13) and there are no sex scenes, which is a big bonus. It is rated R for blood and adult content (which is pretty intense). So I don't recommend doing what a number of families did and brought young kids. Musical score was not stand-out epic, but it did enough to support the movie without you noticing it. This movie would fit very well with Terminator: Salvation. I'd give it an 8/10.

I know people don't go to a James Cameron movie to expect quality dialogue and character depth BUT nor should we be happy with something so clichéd and for lack of a better word, 'soulless'.
I just saw Avatar last night and that's exactly right--for all the movie going on about souls and Trees of Souls and whatnot, it was rather soulless! Afterwards, I felt in a whirl of pretty colors and strange, beautiful scenery...but I wasn't left with much to think about, except for how similar the story was to Dances with Wolves. It was also an hour too long in my opinion. Ah well, it was worth seeing it on the big screen for the visuals.
has anyone seen Extraodrinary Measures yet? I have not.....

I've seen Extraordinary Measures, Liberty and, sadly, it's not really worth the money. Pity, because it's based on an inspirational and moving true story, but the realization on the big screen didn't do it justice, despite the involvement of big names like Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser. They (especially Ford) seemed to be acting the part, rather than living it. The script came across as ofttimes rather lame and it just didn't touch me the way I hoped it might. Renting it on DVD when it releases in that format might be a better idea.
I haven't yet seen Avatar, but want to at some point, if only for the stunning scenery of Pandora and its sky.

I just returned from an afternoon viewing of The Book of Eli. Fencer has hit the mark with his comments here.
One additional remark I'll make is on the movie's atmospheric qualities. It's a post-apocalyptic movie, and
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Has anybody seen the movie To Save A Life? My youth group just went to see it and it was awesome! It should be advertised more, it now ties with both Narnia movies on my favorite movies list at #1. I didn't even here about it until today, when one of our church members called us up and asked if I wanted to go. I would recommend it to everyone except young children. It says a lot about the way teens treat each other in school. If you haven't watched it yet go see it, it will be worth your while.

wolfloversk: I really want to watch it too, even though it's not really aimed towards people like me...it still looks like a good movie, but I'll probably wait til it's on DVD though and watch it with clearplay...
