Hey, if you guys are depressed about having to go to school, just think how depressing it is for us who have to TEACH you guys at school again. :p And we just had a gloriously restful week to ourselves... :( =))

I don't usually get the post-holiday blues, but I know a lot of people do. Actually I was looking forward to January — there are so many things that get put off till then, social events and whatnot. But I think the main thing I was looking forward to was getting back to my routine. I'm finding as I get older that I'm appreciating routine more and more ;)). I love Christmas and New Year's Eve and all that, but with lots of time off I can sometimes feel a little lost. It's odd, I know.

Exactly! Well said. From what I've seen in lesson plans (or rather the lack thereof), the teachers don't want to be back either. ;)) I mean they aren't having the students do much of anything. I definitely didn't miss those between 5 and 6 am sub calls. :p I got called at 5:25 this morning for a job that didn't start until 8:10. And of course I couldn't get back to sleep. (-|

Pretty soon I'll have to take down the Christmas decorations. I hate taking down decorations. :p I got a Zits page a day calendar for Christmas today's strip showed the mom saying "I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy taking down the decorations as much as I do putting them up! Jeremy, the teen-aged son, has a string of Christmas lights around his neck and is pretending to hang himself and the dad is hanging from the roof as the ladder falls to the ground. That strip seemed to relate to this thread.

^^ =)) HAHAHA!

We did History today, but I really don't have a school-load right now. It's nice to feel like I actually did something! ;))

And about decorations...putting them up, there's a reason. But taking them down = work + depression... :(

I think I'm moving on though. It helps that my sis has a b-day soon. :D

Now I wish we didn't have holidays because I was really into my routine when we stoped for the break. Now I have to get used to school again. I hope I can get back into my routine quickly, otherwise my grades will suffer. I"m kind of getting back on track now though.

Lucy of Narnia, I'm trying to think about my Dad's birthday as well. It helps to think of all the positive things to come. :) Wish your sister a happy birthday for me. :)

I finished taking down my Christmas decorations today, :( except for my mini Christmas tree. My sister has the boxes for the ornaments that are on it and she lives a couple of hours away. I still have Christmas cookies left though.

I guess I'm kind of opposite of most of you. I haven't really had a holiday thanks to my interim class and our kitchen being remodeled. Now that both of those are over, my winter break can finally begin (after my final grade is posted tomorrow :-s )!

I still have the post-holiday blues :p Doesn't help that I've been sick.

We still have our tree up, just too lazy to take it down, I guess. And classes start back today :( I'm glad for a routine to be back, but classes mean grades and stressing over said grades.

Haha, me too. And I still have my presents sitting all over the place in my room. It would seem to final to put them away :-s .
I still have one more week of Christmas vacation, I work every other day and on the days I don't work I go cross country skiing :p . I could really get used to this...

I always have the post-holiday blues, but this year is slightly different. I still feel sad, but at the same time I'm already wishing spring break and summer to be here soon! Me and my sister have some crazy hikes planned, so anticipation makes me almost want to start school again just so it's over sooner 8-} .

I think the best cure for the blues is to do something for someone else :). I was able to do that last week and really, Christ-centered ministry is the only thing that can bring real joy. Not that we do it for our benefit or good feelings, but it's interesting that we find joy when we stop focusing on ourselves and serve others. The paradox of finding life only when we lose ours...

ww, truer words were rarely spoken. It really is more blessed to give than to receive, for in this way Christ is being reflected: getting out and doing something for others is the best remedy for 'the blues'. I am so thankful to have parents who are shining examples of this, and am in the (life-long) process of learning that giving to others really is what brings true joy. We are the hands and feet of Christ on this earth, sharing His love to those in need, thereby getting the focus off ourselves. Wonderful stuff! We were made for this: no wonder it is so fulfilling. And may God's name be honoured through it all!

So, how are your moods these days, nearly a month after Christmas? Have you tried reaching out to those around you when you're felt down-ish? How did that change things?

I've honestly never really experienced post holiday blues.....I mean, I'm not a huge fan of school, but maybe it's because I'm homeschooled...... :D :-?

I can't say I've had post holiday blues, because I was actually looking forward to jumping right back into the swing of things. However, since the New Year, my family has had the opportunity to reach out to an unsaved girl by having her over several times a week. While it may not have cured any post holiday blues, it certainly has helped the year 2011 get off to a pretty good start. :)

Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.
