Wow Destined-To-Reign and Andrew, I loved your poems
I'm not a very big fan of the Cavalier poets but when I read this poem it somehow spoke to me

Still to Be Neat by Ben Jonson

Still to be neat, still to be dressed
As you were going to a feast
Still to be powdered, still perfumed
Lady, it is to be presumed,
Though art's hid causes are not found
All is not sweet, all is not sound.

Give me a look, give me a face
That makes simplicity a grace;
Robes loosely flowing, hair as free
Such sweet neglect more taketh me
Than all th' adultries of art.
They strike mine eyes, but not my heart

always be humble and kind

Here's a short little poem I wrote awhile ago. It was written pretty fast, so... ;))

Sunset

A blazing ball of fire
In a brilliantly painted sky
Sinking downward towards the horizon
With a sleepy, blinking eye

Another day is finished,
The sun has completed her task
With a final yawn, she retires to bed
For a long, much-needed rest

She leaves the sky ablaze with color
Brilliant reds and fiery gold
And the moon takes her spot to light the sky
As the darkness of night unfolds

Miss Rosario beautiful poem, you really get the feel of the setting sun. (I'm actually watching the sunset right now, it's just just beginning to set though, so the brilliant red part will come a bit later)

double post....again...goodness I'm sure good at making double posts in this thread :p
Anyway I just wanted to post a poem I wrote some time back before I leave for the summer. I actually first wrote this poem in Russian, then translated it into English. Naturally I like the Russian version more but here is the English one

Master or Slave
Although I cannot walk or fly
Yet traveled the whole world have I
My master? They say it is the race man
And to him most faithful subject I am

But the history of the world I have read
And tell me, who has this folly said
For down through the centuries you’ll see
Man has done anything to get me

For me, it seems he will cheat any day
And lie, and kill and even betray
And to this day I do behold
How for me he walks the globe

And to obtain me, his ultimate goal
Man is willing to sell his soul
Man my master? That I cannot say
For more often than not, man is my slave

(just case anyone is wondering, the poem is about money)

always be humble and kind

And lie, and kill and even betray

...

And to obtain me, his ultimate goal
Man is willing to sell his soul

Whole poem is good, but I just love those parts!

Here's a sonnet I wrote, just firugred I'd post it:

It is foolish to love someone who lies,
She will attempt to make you her pet.
She lies and then in time of need she cries
Do not allow entrapment in the net,
We’ve all loved someone who became a liar.
In the beginning they have a sweet scent
We’ve been abandoned when our need is dire
Bur soon to us they try to circumvent.
Do not allow this to change how you love
Memories of happy times comfort us.
Our souls should remain as pure as a dove
So once again we will be amorous.
Who knows when they will become enamored?
Or when they will fly like a great lovebird?

Lovely poetry everyone!
Andrew: I enjoyed your song. I could imagine a bit of how it would go in my head.

Right now my favorite poem is the poem I found on my bathroom counter, written by my 11 year old sister to me because I gave her a pack of gum. Stride gum ;))

Take a ride
with not stop stride
Please don't hide
there's still stride tide

Thanks so much for this yummy treat
It's almost to good to eat
I can feel the beat and my thumping feet
but PLEASE
HELP
ME!...

13 Pieces is too much to eat
I need you to help defeat...
JUST
ONE!

Not a gum pack fleet
So please lets share
And enjoy this yummy treat!

(I corrected some of the spelling errors). ;)) So sweet of her!

That was cute.
Here's my rather long poem, which I still think is one of my best:
A Numbered Voyage
One, two, three-
He heeds the call to the sea.
Four, five, six-
His first ships sink like bricks.
Seven, eight, nine-
New ships, the day is fine.
Ten, eleven, twelve-
Voices cry a fond farewell.
Thirteen , fourteen, fifteen-
The voyagers now must hasten.
Sixteen, seventeen, eighteen-
Clouds and whales are often seen.
Nineteen, twenty, twenty-one-
‘Into the setting sun!’
Twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four-
‘Land shall we see no more!’
Twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven-
Of ships there be eleven.
Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty-
The tempests begin early.
Thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three-
‘Land there is, and trees1'
Thirty-four, thirty-five, thirty-six-
People picking up sticks.
Thirty-seven, thirty-eight, thirty-nine-
‘Come, now ‘tis the time’
Forty, forty-one, forty-two-
‘We’re all coming after you’
Forty-three, forty-four, forty-five-

‘We have escaped--alive’
Forty-six, forty-seven, forty-eight-
Passing through the perilous straits.
Forty-nine, fifty, fifty-one-
‘From no ship shall we run.’
Fifty-two, fifty-three, fifty-four-
‘We’ll knock you to the ocean floor!’
Fifty-five, fifty-six, fifty-seven-
‘Victory to the Ruling Eleven!’
Fifty-eight, fifty-nine, sixty-
The sea indeed is risky.
Sixty-one, sixty-two, sixty-three-
‘The Eleven shall forever be!’
Sixty-four, sixty-five, sixty-six-
Gone from every other ship.
Sixty-seven, sixty-eight, sixty-nine-
The ships are all in line.
Seventy, seventy-one, seventy-two-
‘These days shall we ever rue’
Seventy-three, seventy-four, seventy-five-
‘On trouble we will thrive!'
Seventy-six, seventy-seven, seventy-eight-
‘Can you not see straight!’
Seventy-nine, eighty, eighty-one-
‘O for a sight of the sun!’
Eighty-two, eighty-three, eighty-four-
‘I command you, open this door!’
Eighty-five, eighty-six, eighty-seven-
A promise now is given.
Eighty-eight, eighty-nine, ninety-
‘The rest will not be easy’.

Ninety-one, ninety-two, ninety-three-
‘You’re wrong again, I see.’
Ninety-four, ninety- five, ninety-six-
With other ships do they mix.
Ninety-seven, ninety-eight, ninety-nine-
Sailing into harbor, still in line.
One hundred, one hundred, one hundred-
Home, and heroes remembered.

Sorry to double post, I just wanted to post something I wrote:

A set of pieces on a funny board,
The colony of ants marching for the horde,
The men who are noticed by the gods,
The fisherman with power over the cods.

When summers end and valkyries die,
When people can no longer run and hide,
That is when kings are overthrown.
That is when skills by a sniper are honed.

The dogs of war are off the chain.
Enemies of order do not fear the pain.
Poison into cups is slipped,
Into fire arrows are dipped.

The toy box of the devil has been emptied out,
Kings of the east rally armies and shout,
God cannot last in the details alone
But by the people and the devil he was overthrown.

One of my favourite poems was one written in german.
I'd post it in its entirety here, but considering there are many translations, I'll just post this link instead:

I like that panther poem - great description! (:

Here's a song I just finished last night, lemme know what ya'll think!

The Only Feeling Left

I cannot feel but fear anymore,
These thoughts of death - my mind is now so sore,
And now I know I can't ever be free
From fear unless I unleash the monster inside of me.

Have you ever felt so completely alone in a crowd,
Deaf to the music even if it's totally loud,
Loneliness crushing down your mind, severing through,
It gets hard to breathe when even your mind turns against you,
You can't even feel, the only emotion left inside you is fear,
Panic attacks, murder in every little noise that you hear!

I cannot feel but fear anymore,
These thoughts of death - my mind is now so sore,
And now I know I can't ever be free
From fear unless I unleash the monster inside of me.

Berserk, so unsure, and obscure in the mirror
Is the fear, come on here, shed a tear, your career,
It's on the line, come on find who you are,
Don't be blind in your mind, lest your sight ain't far behind.

You can't take this anymore,
Fear is knocking on your mental door,
You don't feel anything else at night,
All this fright dragging you down from the light...

I cannot feel but fear anymore,
These thoughts of death - my mind is now so sore,
And now I know I can't ever be free
From fear unless I unleash the monster inside of me.

I can no longer walk around a corner in the dark,
My feelings so synonymous with paranoia now,
I see them creeping invisibly out of sight,
They cannot he defeated unless I release who I really am tonight.
Once unlocked can this beast ever be kept in check?
The world, my oyster, just might fall because I'm a train wreck.

I cannot feel but fear anymore,
These thoughts of death - my mind is now so sore,
And now I know I can't ever be free
From fear unless I unleash the monster inside of me.
I cannot feel but fear anymore,
These thoughts of death - my mind is now so sore,
And now I know I can't ever be free
From fear unless I unleash the monster inside of me.

A Black Sheeps heart

Alone in the shadows where i sit
A girl whose heart no one knows
No one understands
My mind is like a prison my heart is beating fast
They tell me I'm not good enough
I'm different, I'm not like them
My friends don't know
My mind greatly troubles me as I sit in this cage
Trying to correct my thoughts over and over
Trying to silence them.
I cry out but they don't stop
If they do, only for a moment
I'm not evil
I'm not trying to boss people
Just trying to do what's right
I'm not rebellious an dI'm not mean
And I don't understand
How can I understand them, when they refuse to understand me?
Why should I consider their opinions when they never consider mine?
Maybe they're just afraid of me
Like I'm afraid of them.

Cool poem eustacegirl, I think I'll echo Andrew and ask did you write it?

Here's something that I wrote a while back, thought I'd post it

A Wish for You
Though I can’t make the sun always shine
I wish that you will see rainbows through the rain
Though I can’t make all your sorrows leave
I wish you will find comfort when in pain
Though I can’t make your life all comfort and ease
I wish fulfillment your life will bind
Though I can’t make all your problems leave
I wish the solutions you will always find
Though I can’t make your life all joy
I wish you joy while life lasts
Though I can’t make all your wishes come true
I pray God lets them come to pass

always be humble and kind

I liked that. That was beautiful!
Here's another of mine:
True Fame
Days of vict’ry, days of wonder
Pass by like a clap of thunder
And then are gone, to history
They speed away, on mighty wings.

One day of fame, spent in the sun
Of bright Favor, one short hour
They possess the people’s power
A blink of the eyes of ages

A thousand years, are like a day
That are just gone by, to Him who
Above the sky, sits enthroned and
In whose realm, there is true fame. Amen.
