I will concur with PC004...it's not Duel (the description fits except for there being just one guy the truck is chasing, no girls in sight). Maximum Overdrive also somewhat fits but there the trucks (and any other number of vehicles) are chasing and killing practically everyone. I know they did a remake of sorts of Duel in the 90's or possibly early 2000's with a guy and a girl being chased by a truck, but that obviously couldn't be from your childhood. I have to admit this one has me cornfuzzled...

Well, thanks kindly for the input and suggestions, Warrior, PrinceCor, and Shadowlander, although I agree: I don't think it's either Duel or Maximum Overdrive. So now I am quite puzzled and am wondering if I dreamed it. :- Yet, it's so vivid in my mind: a driver-less car (or truck—can't actually recall) chasing down this couple (girl in particular). Terrifying!

*remains mightily confuzzled* :p

Maybe it was an independent Canadian film, or something, PC. ;))

Finally! I watched Time Traveler's Wife and I gotta say, it's great! I was a bit confused though with how they met, but it was soooo touching. Eric Bana is such a handsome actor, so is Rachel McAdams. (pretty is the term). I am planning to read the book though, since they said lots of scenes weren't included in the movie.

I also watched Wuthering Heights on HBO yesterday. What I love about it is that mostly, they didn't change anything at all that was from the book. Each scene they made, I knew it was from the book. I didn't finish it though but I watched most of it. The story is very sad but there's a mix of some craziness(if that's the term). All in all, it's an amazing classical movie.

A-ha!!! Mystery solved! You're talking about Christine, it's a Stephen King adaptation about some sort of possessed 1950's era car that a local unpopular nerd ends up owning, and the car changes him, but the car can do things on its own too...it was that it was about a truck that kept throwing me off. Good movie, at least to me.

Ok movie buffs, I need some help. I need to do a paper on a film of a Shakespeare play. It can be word for word or a modern adaptation (i.e. The Lion King or Ten Things I Hate About You or any of the recent BBC ones.). What are everyone's favorite film adaptations of Shakespeare's works?

I can't say I've seen a lot, but Ten Things I Hate About You definetly sticks out in my mine as a favorite. It's a fun, funny, teen romcom to begin with, and it's the sort of "adaption" that sneaks up on you...you don't really start out thinking "okay, these are all the paraells to the play", you start to realize the Shakespearian connections over the course of the film. Also, The Taming of the Shrew lends itself well to a modern film adaption, with the whole gender-roles topic, and lots of convolted yet amusing plotlines. :D

Ten Things I Hate About You was definitely a funny little movie. If I try to think of more right now my brain will break.

I'm not a fan of Shakespeare's works but I loved The Lion King and Ten Things I Hate About You and She's the Man were also good fun. I don't know how much of The Lion King was influenced by Hamlet because I see more of the story of Moses from Exodus, but there's a good dose of the former.

I just watched Primal Fear for the first time, not something I would recommend to all narniawebbers, particularly the young cautious ones. :)
(language and a sexual scene- a murder occurs early on in the movie and is what the movie is about)

I thought it was terrific. Edward Norton, in an Oscar Nominated role, was absolutely terrific- and the rest of the cast was strong as well.

I saw that movie about two years ago, I gotta say- I rather enjoyed it myself. I've also been meaning to see it again, but haven't gotten around to it.
