^awesome! I watched that for the first time a couple months ago and really enjoyed it
W4J: actually I meant the movie was meaningless . Maybe if I watch it a couple more times I'll be able to decide what I feel about it, cause right now I'm just like blah. But it was like I could feel my brain melting watching it .
The Lord of the Rings movies are todays version of Star Wars. It has revolutionized movie making and movie culture. Since LOTR came out, there have been MANY book and comic book to movie adaptations but very few have stood at the level that Lord of the Rings has. Return of the King is the 3rd highest grossing movie in history behind only James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic.
But whatever you do, don't stop at Fellowship of the Ring. Two Towers and Return of the King are not mere sequels, but actually just a continuation of one big original story. While Narnia was in pre-production before LOTR became hot, LOTR has had a big impact on the success of Narnia. I just hope it continues.

Oh yes watch the Extended Editions, they are the BEST!!!!!!
They are longer, but you get so much more from them!
I LOVE THE LORD OF THE RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe The Fellowship of the Ring is going to be nine years old this December!
I can't believe I was Ten when I first saw The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters, we saw it that year on Christmas Day!
It feels like yesterday, good, good memories! Those Movies continue to stand the test of time! They never get old!
The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity. C.S. Lewis
@Libb: Hmmm, can you explain the extended edition?
Well, I haven't watched the second since I am still downloading it, but I am looking forward on watching it already!!! I was like at the ending, WHAAAAAT? that's it!? Good thing I didn't watch this at its first showing since I would go psycho while waiting for the next sequel! Haha. But overall, I know LOTR have the best movies in history.
"Two sides of the same coin"
The extended editions to LOTR have a lot more scenes taken from the books and they fill out the characters so much more. You can get by seeing either version of Fellowship and Two Towers, but there is a clear difference between the two versions in Return of the King. The theatrical version of ROTK's editing is rougher than the others and a viewing of the extended version explains why.
Some of the best things about the extended versions is that they are perfectly blended in. You wouldn't know they were extra scenes if you hadn't scene the original. Unfortunately Narnia didn't pull it off as well. Part of what helped is that Howard Shore redid the soundtrack for the extended part instead of just reusing what he already had. There are completely new pieces in the extended version, and my favorite one is in Return of the King: the House of Healing Track. That moment after the battle of Minas Tirith is so powerful. So believe me, the Extended Editions are WORTH IT!!

I also much prefer the LotR extended editions but I think the FotR and TT EE's are still required viewing. I really should watch them again soon. The CGI doesn't age so well, but the rest is amazing.

I do agree. I was just saying that ROTK's extended is significantly a step above the theatrical. FOTK's and TT's EE's are superb enhancements but not necessarily like watching a different movie. And yes, the CGI is starting to show its age, even compared to Narnia, but that is just the way of life. Even Star Wars' technology aged quickly because everyone else started using it and it was when the tech boom began. But like Star Wars Lord of the Rings is standing the test of time. Such good movies.

Oh. What I like about LOTR is that it is really worth watching and I learn a lot from it. I really feel I am in that movie like when someone is hurt or injured I go like, oh no!!! I just love the connection between me and the movie.
"Two sides of the same coin"
I just watched a movie called "Moondance Alexander" and it's really awesome! it's about a girl and a horse but it's not typical like most stories of that kind

So now I have seen Diary of a Whimpy Kid and the new Karate Kid. Best thing about Diary of a Whimpy Kid is the VDT trailer on it. It's got the same shots as we have seen but arranged differently. Can't wait for that movie to come out. But as for the movie itself, it's a decent kid-driven film from the perspective an under 90-lb weakling trying to get himself to the top of the social ladder of middle school. It's cute and some parts are clever, but nothing truly stand out.
Karate Kid was essentially identical to the first with the key exceptions being actors, location, and martial art. There is no karate in the movie at all. It is Kung Fu. The acting quality however is IMO is better, in part due to better characterization. Jackie Chan's character is more of a character than just an instructor like Pat Norita in the original. But if you have seen the first, you can predict every step of the new one as they have identical plot lines. Here are some examples as spoilers.
Overall I thought it was as good, if not better, than the original, which is a REALLY hard thing to do. I liked it, and though I won't give it any Oscar worthy nods, it is worth seeing, even if you know the original.

I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox yesterday and I have to say, it's pretty amazing. It's incredibly funny and the animation is so intriguing. It's beautiful yet so creative. I never read the book so I have no idea how it was as an adaptation, but it was very enjoyable. It was well-written, well-acted, and well-designed.
Ooh, I have to disagree ^^. I saw it, and I was not impressed. I don't like that kind of animation, and I think all of the different voices were ridiculous. They all sounded the same, and were very bla . . . . or that's my opinion.
There were funny parts though.

I haven't seen the movie but I've seen the trailer. As a child, I loved the original Roald Dahl book. The movie trailer looked very good. I'll have to see it sometime.
Elanor, the animation is British old skool stop-animation, so if you weren't around when it was popular, or didn't experience it as a child, it would seem strange.

I had never read Fantastic Mr Fox, but when I heard of the movie I interested. Then I saw the trailers and the animation as pulled me away so I didn't see it when it hit theaters. I decided to not judge on that alone so I rented it. I thought it was amazing! I really enjoyed it, and the animation worked well for it. I can't say anything bad about it.
