^lol . Yes I hadn't seen it. I've seen parts of the movies before but never the whole thing through. I have survived simply b/c I found other things to love and enjoy
*coughpluggedIncough*
ahem. I saw that. Why am I the only one who likes pluggedin on here?!
Oh my.... I'll definitely have to watch what I say around you, Shadow. One little sentence from me and you make a post like that? oh dear....
I think you would probably enjoy it, especially the big battle at the end and the various alien creatures. Yeah, Hollywood seems to like cramming messages down peoples throats. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't basically stop the film, preach and then continue. It almost always feels out of place when they have the "preachy moment".
@ Ali. I don't mind PluggedIn, it's just that they sometimes make things out to be bigger problems than they are. Granted, they are taking the highly conservative stance, but there are some movies that they make out to be horrible that are actually fine.
Avvie by the great Djaq!

I'm glad you found some merit to Avatar, Prince Cor. For all its shortcomings (familiar story, debatable acting, etc), the space shots are spectacular, as is all the bioluminesence of the Pandora night.
(And like Sully, I think I'd love to fly around the mountains on one of those ikran - though I doubt I could survive the trek to get one. )
Shadowlander, how big is your TV? All that space beauty might translate nicely - especially to something a little bigger than my 19" antique.
One little problem though with Mr. Worthington: his accent is all over the map. Sometimes he sounds like a guy from NY while at other times his Australian accent is quite heavy.
Interesting observation! I noticed his Aussie accent peeking out a bit more in his role as Perseus in Clash of the Titans.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Well, I've never seen a movie that PluggedIn rated as really bad that I thought was ok, but then again I tend to veer on the more conservative myself. Sometimes I do think that they point out anything and everything that might be remotely objectionable, to be on the safe side, which I understand. I guess I prefer to have everything laid out to me, and then I can decide for myself if it's worth it or not. Plus it is nice to have a reason explained behind calling out a certain negative or objectionable element. If I want just plain, bare facts, I go to KidsInMind.com, where they give you the whole truth and nothing but the truth, which can be a little TOO much if you're looking up a film that happens to be a bit on the graphic side!
That being said. I saw Avatar last week, and it wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be, but not the best ever. I definitely found the technology most intriguing, plus the "reality" of Pandora. I'm a space/outer universe geek and I love to dream about the "what ifs", and Avatar was a kind of fun way to see that out, storyline aside.
EEK Kittengirl I love love love The Brave Little Toaster. Thanks to you I'm gonna find my old copy and watch it tonight in bed. That sounds like a plan to me

Yes I agree, there are other things to Love other then Lord of the Rings! (not much though, LOL! at least as far as movies go )
I’m glad you are finally getting a chance to watch the movies! Out of curiosity are you going to read each book before you watch each movie?
@Gymfan15: Well put about Plugged In, that’s exactly how I feel about it.

The only thing that ruined Avatar for my enjoyment was all the cuss words flying here and there. I was like come on now the movie would have been so much better if they only kept in like maybe two curse words and found other words to say without saying God's name in vain.

I feel so left out. There's no theatre where I live (the closest one is 800 miles away as an airplane flies: no roads connecting) so any movies I want to see, I have to wait until they're on DVD and the stores here get them. I have not seen Avatar though I desperatly want to. My sister was able to see it in theatres. The stores'll probably be getting it soon so I'm looking forward to it!
Alas, I have not yet seen LotR. I just recently discovered that my library has them but my parents aren't really big on watching movies (anything we watch is mostly TV shows that are 45 minutes long). And considering those are long movies and my parents most definetly won't let at least two of my siblings watch them, I probably won't be seeing them until this fall when my family leaves to go moose hunting and I am home alone. I am looking forward to this fall.
@narnian_at_heart: What! You must watch them this fall!
How is this happening! I didn’t think it was possible for me to hear of two different people in one week never to have seen The Lord of the Rings!!!!!! You have to watch them this fall! Oh, and if you want the ones that are shorter (but still long) make sure you grab the original theatrical version, but if your up to it I would highly recommend the Extended Versions!

The ones that are at the library are in boxes. Like cardboard boxes that are about twice as thick as a DVD case. I haven't looked at them really close (why torture myself? ) but I think they're the extended version.

Oh narnian_at_ heart you are going to love LOTR and yes I totally agree with 7chronicles, the extended ones are great. Just bought them this year actually

Yes, that's a requirement!!

I agree as well! Plugged In's reviews are good to get an idea about some of the stuff in the movie but it's never the final authority on whether or not I watch a movie.
I don't trust Plugged In for any movie I don't know.....they haven't been that accurate with movies from my observation. but that's just my opinion.
I just saw the original movie of Bridge To Terabithia - filmed in 1985. the quality was very bad, but the acting was shockingly of poor quality!
the plot was messed up because
