I have to agree when someone says that they love the first movie better rather then the sequel. .
I have to say that Beauty and the Beast is by far the best animated Disney movie ever to me. Aladdin comes in second and Lion King third.
I rarely ever like a sequel better than the original, not including book adaptations.
As for your top Disney, definitely B&B is mine as well, then probably TLK, followed by maybe Bambi.
Bambi is such a good movie. It's definitely in my top ten favorite Disney movies.

So.... Just watched The Prestige lately...
I felt that though it had a really, really good story--IMO--the characters (though not weak) weren't really... hm. What I mean to say is, I didn't really feel a "connection" with any of the characters. To me, that makes a movie a lot better. *shrug* I think that's important too.
Anyway. I guess I don't really know what to say to sum it up.

I think The Little Mermaid and Aladdin were the best Disney movies. I as a rule don't like the new Disney princess movies.

Oh, I like that movie! I felt it had a good twist to it!
Lion King is by far my favorite Disney animated movie! I think my next one would have to be Jungle Book!

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the Prestige. I think the coldness, or lack of character connection that you referred to, Queen Susan, was intentional. It's an odd movie in the fact that there really are no "good guys" - hence it's not easy to sympathize with any of the characters.
Expertly crafted though, and with a gritty, realistic tone that doesn't get used on many period films.

Ooo, favorite Disney animated films. I'm certain I will never be able to construct a list of those; so many of them are so good. Beauty in the Beast probably ends up on top, but not by a very big margin.
I just watched The Fox and the Hound recently, and while it's certainly not perfect, the story is excellent. The last shot where they pan out on Todd looking down on Copper is always so heart breaking. "You're my best friend," "You're mine too, Todd" "and we'll always be friends, forever..." "yes, forever..."
I also watched Mulan recently; it's quite a good one too. I love the end bit when Mulan hands her father the artifacts she has gathered, and her father throws them aside and hugs her.
I could go on and on, but I'll spare you all.

aww I love that movie! I always cry when Todd gets left in the woods . So sad. I love movies like that. Disney classics are my favorites .
I am obsessed with Bridge To Terabithia! I have liked it for some time, but lately I have been reading the book and watching the movie quite a lot!
The movie is very inspiring to me for reasons I can't figure out! It's just really awesome even though
but I love Jesse and Leslie's friendship! it's just awesome!

I loved The Prestige when I saw it. And then I had to watch it again three times to figure it out!
Favorite Disney classic? Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! Sleeping Beauty is a close second, though. (In my family there are so many girls we each claim rights to our own Disney princess. I am Snow White).
Mulan is great but my favourite Disney movie is easily The Lion King. Pity it's so hard to find on DVD.
As for The Prestige, yes, the lack of human connectivity was intentional. Goodness knows Christian Bale and his brother could've written more emotion in there if that was their plan, but it wasn't. Excellent movie but very twisted.

ack someone else who's fave is Lion King ! I've found no one who likes it as much as I do! I love that movie so much ! I need to find it on DVD. I have the first two on VHS, but I have no copy of Lion King 1 1/2- that thing is blasphemous . I hate it. But I love the first soooo much. Still cry when I watch it . That movie has been on my favorite movie list for a long time. I still have a Simba stuffed animal that I got when I was three! I slept with it every night til I found out it was triggering my dust allergies .
I really couldn't say that I have a favorite Disney classic, but here are a few of my fav's:
~ Robin Hood
~ The Great Mouse Detective
~ The Rescuers Down Under (Better than the first one in my opinion!)
~ The Jungle Book (Look for the "bear" necessities the simple "bear" necessities... So, what do you wanna do? I don't know. What do... hey, now don't start that again!)

I know! The main thing that I love about the movie is that it proves that a guy and a girl can be friends without them having something more.
I'm like this with a guy friend that I have and we watched this movie at home and he indicated to me that we are a lot like the characters Jesse and Leslie. And it really is inspiring in that way to our friendship. It also made us cry and we appreciated each other more after the movie ended.
