I was reading a list of the 50 scariest movies of all time and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory made it on there b/c of the oompa loompas and the ferry ride ;)) :p .

I would list Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (well, for sure the new one, with Johnny Depp) in a list of scariest movies simply because of...*shudders as she types it* the caterpiller scene.* I don't even know what context it had to do with the movie, all I know was it was on TV and we thought we'd see what it was like, and that was the scene that was on that moment. I've never turned the TV off faster in my life!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the new one with Johnny Depp.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is the old one with Gene Wilder.

Just so there's no confusion. ;))

That said, Val, you must be talking about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory because I can't remember any kind of caterpillar in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. ;))

I'm not sure why/how some people have intense phobias of caterpillars but I'm not going to make fun of them.

I also think the ferry ride in the original Chocolate Factory movie (the one that's not close to the book) is ridiculously scary. I much prefer the remake with Johnny Depp, simply because it's closer to the book and the Chocolate Factory looks amazing. The original movie is okay (the Oompa Loompas are iconic etc.) but the movie is only good before they get to the Factory, then for the most part, it's just bad.

No, it was definetly Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Ryan. I think it was some scene to do with the Oompa-Loompas (or whatever they're called ) and what they ate in their native country...??? I only saw about 10 seconds of it so I don't really remember anything except for, well, the caterpillars XD

Ah, yes, you're right. It was the remake. The original movie didn't explore the Oompa Loompa's native habitat.

@ Val. Yep, you must have seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the one with Johnny in it ;) ). Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factor never had a scene with a caterpillar in it.

That being said, I prefer Willy Wonka over the new Burton film. The new one is just.... creepy, while the old Gene Wilder one was kind of an off beat comedy. Yes, it's definitely a film of the 70's, but I still like it. :p

On the Subject of musicals:

There is only a handful of musicals that I like: My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, King and I and Hello Dolly!. Most of those I grew up watching on AMC, so they hold a special sentimental value for me.

Fortunately, after viewing them again more recently they are still fun films. Not the greatest things ever done (though My Fair Lady is quite good), but still just plan fun. :D

You mean the Disney version? I LOVE that movie.
I personally really like WALLE too.
And LWW, though I'm not a huge fan of PC.
And my list could go on for a while so I think I'll stop it here. :)

Are there any fans on here that loved the Disney Channel in the mid-late 90's?

remember the original movie surfers, Toon Disney wasn't on a different channel, Bug Juice, Jett Jackson, So Weird, Growing Pains, The Jersey, In a Hearbeat, Zoog Disney, and Vault Disney.

Disney Channel was its' best back then, the shows had morals and the same episodes weren't shown three times a day or every other week now, and the shows would vary including the movies, even The Lion King was shown back then than some of those movies that come on and on again and again. I miss old disney. They need to bring it back!

Also my favorite Disney live action back in the 90's was Tom & Huck :D
