Zathura wasn't bad, but i wouldn't want to see it again. I really liked Josh in Bridge to Terabithia which was an excellent (though sad) film. I also thought Anna Sophia Rob was brilliant in that film. The director of Bridge seemed to really bring out the best in those two young actors.

Annasophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson were amazing in Bridge To Terabithia! I love that movie!
Josh Hutcherson's been really good in lots of movies!

^yes they were both excellent. It was a sad film, but I love it. Annasophia is a really good actress. I was really upset the other day when I found out she almost got the part of Annabeth in the Percy Jackson movie! She would have been soooo much better.
You're right. AnnaSophia would have definitely elevated Percy Jackson another notch or two. She had a small but standout part in Jumper and she was great as Violet in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Bridge To Terabithia was sad, but good! Josh Hutcherson is so talented at crying realistically! in the end of the movie when

^^yeah he's really good at crying. And that part is sad, I was bawling
GB: I haven't seen her in Jumper but I saw her in Charlie and Bridge to Terabithia, Samantha, Because of Winn Dixie, and that one episode of Drake and Josh she was in . No I never watched that show regurarly but it was on one day and I only watched it b/c she was in it
Annasophia Robb was also in Race to Witch Mountain which was a pretty good remake from the first. She and Alexander Ludwig were good as Sarah and Seth. Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson has never really been a good actor but the three together made a good combo. I wouldn't buy Race to Witch Mountain, but I definately would not be oppossed to seeing it again.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
AnnaSophia Robb is also playing Bethany Hamilton in the new movie coming out about Bethany Hamilton and her shark attack.
"Are you sure you're eighteen?"
"Why? Do I look older?"
I want to watch Race to Witch Mountain. I never saw the original but I like Annasophia so I want to watch the new one . I want to watch Soul Surfer too, that's the one you're talking about right narnialover4?

Oh, wow. I remember Bethany years ago when her story was all over the news. I'd completely forgotten about her until I saw on here that a movie was being made about her. How neat! I'll have to see it when it's available.
^^It's coming out sometime this year I'm pretty sure. It's in post-production.
So has anyone watched any good movies lately? Besides 3 different versions of Persuasion I've seen the BBC Robin Hood TV series and Facing the Giants. I love FtG, it's so awesome! The death-crawl scene is like the best one in the whole movie!
Did you post your thoughts on the different Persuasion adaptations somewhere on the forum, Glenstorm? I'd love to hear what you thought of them.
I must admit that I wasn't a huge fan of AnnaSophia Robb in Bridge to Terebithia, but then I disliked that movie in general and far prefer the book. Likewise, I've totally forgotten her performance in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; however, she and Max Thierrot were very impressive in Jumper and totally outshone their adult counterparts. (Not, of course, that that was hard....)
By far the best movie I've seen recently is 1995's Cold Comfort Farm, an adaptation of the Stella Gibbons novel of the same name. It's simply hilarious, and has a perfect cast, which includes Kate Beckinsale, Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Eileen Atkins, and Rufus Sewell. Best line (delivered by McKellen): "Seth, drain the well. There's a neighbor missin'."
Note: like the novel it comes from, there is some adult subject matter in this film, but in my opinion it is handled fairly well. Much of it is there simply to be made fun of.

I haven't really talked about Persuasion yet so I guess I'll do it here lys.
1971: I'm not quite done with this one yet, but so far it's horrible. The cast is too old, the script is boring, the costumes and sets are bad, and just about everything is *not* good. Maybe it'll get better but I doubt it.
1995: I liked this version. The cast was ok (I thought Anne was a little old-looking and Ciaran Hinds doesn't make for a very good Cpt Wentworth), the script was good. Adaption was excellent, I love how they kept alot of the conversations from the book. Things like that are always a plus for me.
2007: my favorite version. The cast was excellent, and the best. Some of the adaption was lacking (they cut some of my fave conversations) but they kept most of the story in there. Very good for being only 1 1/2 hours long. The main thing that bothered me was when they did head on shots when the actors looked straight at the camera. I HATE when they do that in movies. Not good.
too bad you didn't like Bridge to Terabithia lys. I love that movie, but I do prefer the book. But I thought Annasophia was a perfect Leslie.
That quote from that movie you watched is funny .
Ehhh ... AnnaSophia was a little too pretty and girly-girly for Lesllie. I wanted a bit more of a tomboy. But she gave a decent performance. Most everyone did. The actual visualizations of the fantasy world and the updating of the story were really turned me off. It lost that gritty, nostalgic feel that made the book work so beautifully.
Aw, I'm sorry you didn't like the '95 film more. I think it's just perfect, one of those rare movies that captures the exact tone of its source material. I can see your problem with Root, although actually it's Hinds who's significantly older than his character, and both of the recent Annes were about the same age as she was in the book. Although I prefer Root, Sally Hawkins did a very fine job in the new movie, and the first half of it was fairly solid as an adaptation. But between the infamous Bath Marathon scene, and the (IMHO) poor casting of Wentworth and Mary, I really don't feel the need to see the '07 version many more times.

YOU DIDN'T LIKE WENTWORTH!!! That was the best Wentworth! Yeah I didn't really like her running all through Bath either but I still thought it was a good version. But I don't think it's perfect. I'd like to direct my own version . I could do it perfectly . I do have to agree that the 1995 captures the tone and feel of the story, I just really didn't like the casting. And casting is a big deal for me. Part of the reason I like 07 best.

She was a little too pretty I guess but I don't think she was girly-girly. I liked that they made her a little more feminine. In the book Leslie is like another boy, and has no trace of girl in her. I think Annasophia brought just enough boy and girl to the plate. But yeah, I didn't like the effects either. I'd rather imagine everything. They should have just given hints to what the children "saw" instead of just showing it all, if you know what I mean.
