I also saw Dolphin Tale recently. Very excellent movie

Spoiler
even if they took a few creative liberties ;)
The CGI at the beginning was a little distracting, but the story was excellent and it didn't rely much on the CGI so I had no qualms with it.

Since this is about Star Wars Episode II, which is a ten yr old movie, I hope it's cool I put it in here. Thought this was an awesome bit about it's rerelease.

We got The Muppets on Netflix last week and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. ;)) I'm a sucker for funny/cheesy kids movies with loads of cameos. I think I would have liked this movie even more if I had watched The Muppet Show back in the day, though I have seen a few of their movies.

Spoiler
I did have a mind blown moment at the end of the movie when Walter shows off his "talent." When the movie finished I promptly jumped on the internet to find out who can whistle like that. I finally found the guy and his name is Andrew Bird. He's a concert violinist who laughs at the fact that he worked so hard on his violin skills but people are more impressed with his whistling ability. I tell you, my jaw was on the floor. :-o ;))

By the way, does anybody know who that kid was that came in with Whoopi Goldburg and Selena Gomez? If he was even supposed to be anybody? ;))

Chris Cooper rapping was a riot. Jack Black and Emily Blunt were my favorite cameos.

Fun movie. I'll probably go buy it. :P

The kid is from the sitcom "Modern Family".
I find it interesting that you didn't watch "The Muppet Show" back in the day. It was the best! I enjoyed the movie too. My favourite cameos were Emily Blunt (sigh) and the guy who plays Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory".

Doctor Who - Season 11

Yeah, I grew up in a house where we were allotted one hour of TV a day. ;)) So the Muppet Show never got a slot. ;))

The kid is from the sitcom "Modern Family".

Cool, thanks! :)

...and the guy who plays Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory".

Yeah, that was my sister's favorite.

Just saw the first X-Men movie, first I've ever seen of that franchise. It was a pretty decent superhero flick though it seems a bit short and the ending could hove used a bit more action. Good all in all and I hope to see more of the X-Men films soon.

Fantasia, I grew up in a household where we could watch half an hour of TV on weekdays and 2 hours on the weekend. That said, one of the shows I did watch was "The Muppet Show".

Yay! I'm not alone in the strict TV policy! ;))

@aragorn2, I actually liked the first XMen movie quite a bit. For the sheer quantity of characters they had, I thought they handled it pretty well. I liked the second XMen movie a little bit better though. :)

I watched Hugo for the first time last night. Artistically it was a beautiful movie. :) I also liked the side stories of the people who were always in the train station. I also liked the sort of "history" of old movies as well as seeing how those old movies would have been created.
But I was having a little bit of trouble with the characters. ;)) They seemed to act in ways that didn't make a lot of sense to me. (Particularly the Ben Kingsley character... he seemed far too depressed.) I figured for the most part this was because it was a kids' movie and they didn't want to make it too complex or too dark.
I did like it. :)

I had the opportunity to catch a couple of past movies this week:

The Time Traveler's Wife - despite the name, this isn't really sci-fi; it's more of a 'denied love' kind of romance. The concept was interesting (but I think 'random time jumping' was better done in the short-lived 2007 TV series JourneyMan, not to mention - in a very different way - Quantum Leap). Overall, I thought it pretty disappointing.

Howl's Moving Castle - I'm one of the few here that hasn't read the book, so a few aspects of the plot seemed a little confusing. Overall, though, I found it pretty enjoyable, and the animation was gorgeous. And Billy Crystal was great as Calipher.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Yeah, it was kind of ho-hum to me and Wifester too. It wasn't a horrible movie, but it wasn't really engrossing enough to watch a second time. Guy randomly jumps through time due to some weird molecular-level DNA mutation, sees his wife/girlfriend/very young friend in various stages of her life, gets married but keeps jumping off again with no warning. Interesting idea/s but it just didn't drag me in.

Saw Hugo last night. That movie is so strange yet so stylish and sweet at the same time. I really enjoyed it, I only wish I could have seen it in 3D.
And I liked how they showed glimpses of how films used to be made. Though I don't think that

Glad you liked it though. I loved it. I saw it in theater, but like you I didn't see it in 3D and I wish I had.

Our new cable package has TCM and we watched Sullivan's Travels and The Palm Beach Story on Wednesday night. I loved The Palm Beach Story, I think I need to put it on my wishlist to buy. :) Sullivan's Travels was pretty good, it had some really funny parts although I can't let you what right now (I have a slight case of "moving/new house and everything" brain fog). :)

Right now, I'm desperately to watch an action movie or something along those lines, but my brother is too tired to. :( So, I guess I'll wait until he is ready to, maybe tomorrow. :)

Really random question, but has anyone ever seen Finding Neverland? Is it clean? What's it about? Could you find a trailer?
