You have to change it manually--go to Author Info (I think) and click on whatever participated/won years apply. :)

Aitb, no, pretty sure that's not technically allowed but if you still want to do it I don't think it matters much. :P It's just to challenge yourself, it's not like you win an actual prize or anything. Writing 50K benefits you, not the NaNo head honchos.

Kate - oh, like Sorcery and Cecilia? Coolness. I suppose you could always do it by email...

This will be my second year doing NaNo and I'm really excited about my new novel. I'm going to do my best to pace myself this time around so I actually finish the novel. ;) (Since my first one still has some chapters left . . . )

I'm BeautyLikeNight on the website. :)

RE: The '08/past NaNo things...I think that info got erased in the site purge, so you have to go back and re-enter the years you've participated in/won. That's what I did, and it's showing up fine for me.

I'd like to take a moment and encourage anyone who has done NaNo before and plans on doing it again, to donate. Actually, I encourage anyone and everyone to donate, but I'm talking especially to the veterans. I know that, at least for me, I held off on donating my first year because I wanted to see exactly what I would be getting. After doing NaNo and seeing all the benefits and fun that came out of it (not to mention the free proof copy of my novel that I got, which in and of itself is probably alone worth the $10 minimum donation), I know now that it's totally worth it.

I'll be donating this year (putting the check in the mail today!) and I will continue to do so every year I participate in. I encourage all the other old-timers to do the same...we've gotten so much out of this program; that it makes sense that we give a little back. :)

I'm also setting up a Sponsorship page for myself...don't know where that will go, but maybe there's some family and friends that is just itching to donate to so worthy a cause. ;))

Okay, good; if that's the purpose, then I'll probably do it. :P But, like, will it still qualify that I won? ;))

Now I'm having a hard decision between the poetry, and the book I'm writing now. *sighs*

Edit: I asked a moderator on NaNoWriMo about it, and she said that if I just wrote a little bit to not refer to it and just start over with the same idea. I could do that, but I'm enjoying writing the story too much to do that, so I think I'm just going to start thinking of different ideas to write on now. I hope I get hit by something good... :P

NaNoWriMo sounds like so much fun! I really wanted to do it last November, but it didn't coordinate too well with some other things. I'd love to try this year! :) Although my writer's brain is pretty entangled in my current book, so I don't know if I can come up with a new idea. :-s

Does the story have to make any sense at all, as long as it's in complete sentences? ;)

I'm pretty sure it does. ;) Although there were people who were challenging that last year...I don't think it qualifies, but hey, as long as YOU'RE happy... :p ;)

Btw everyone, I started a thread on the NaNo forums for Narniawebbers, so if you're a member please post there so we can see your username and add you as a buddy more quickly. :)

Bella, I wouldn't worry too much about not knowing what you're going to do. Last year was my first year and I didn't even know I was going to participate until I was washing dishes the evening of the 30th of October and had a great idea. :p

This year, I have an idea of what I think I'm going to do, but if another idea strikes right before I have to start... I'll give it a go.

I'm Meltintalle on the NaNo site, and I've added a few of you that I didn't already have from last year. :)

I haven't decided whether I will participate this year. I participated my senior year of High School and completed it. I participated my freshman year of college and did not finish (I don't think I even made it halfway), and last year I didn't participate for time. I don't think I'll have time this year, either, but it may work out that I do. I may just attempt to write 50,000 words on a WIP novel and keep up with my word count with you guys on here.

I think I'll have some time this year for NaNo. :D

I'm trying to decide whether I want to try and finish my novel from last year or start on the sequel this November. I'll probably tear into the sequel because that's more fun, but it's kind of silly to start a new one when I have the novel it builds off of sitting around unfinished. >_< Somebody just needs to start bugging me about finishing the first one and then I'd be much more motivated.

Ok guys...I just got done designing my temp cover for my novel, and I freakin' love it. The only bad this is that I won't be able to use it if/when I get my proof copy, because it's too small and it costs around 300 bucks to get the full-size image! :(( Anyone want to take up a collection? ;)

Anyway, I present to you...NaNo '09!

Anyone have their NaNo covers that they want to share? :D

Yay! This'll be my fifth year doing it (should be sixth, but I skipped one). Hopefully I'll get at least something done. I want to reach 50k, of course, but I'll be happy with anything on account of how crazily busy I am, hehe...

SO glad to see all y'all doing it and repeating it and enjoying it! NaNo is like my pet in a way, and I love to get more people doing it...

EDIT: Also, no clue what I'm writing about this year. I keep coming up with ideas and throwing them away... :p

The more I hear about this, the better it sounds! I may try to participate :p . You see, I have had a general idea for a novel for years, but it seems that every half a year it changes a little and I get nothing done . This could be the best way to actually write something more than small, one page long scenes! :D

My novel would be a mixture of fantasy and agent story 8-| . Weird, I know, but it could be fun!

Great cover, Gymfan15! :D

I'm actually toying with the idea of participating this year. I've had a story in my head for forever and would like to get it written down. Still trying to decide. It's mostly a time thing. ;))
