Of course the first day of November and I didn't take my netbook with me to work..... :| but I didn't lose time and figured at least I could start writing by hand, so I wrote out 8 pages for my English novel "Braces and Broken Wings", though I have no idea how many words that is, and today I forgot those pages at home so I can't count them till I come back :| :|
Today I am focusing on my Russian novel, I sadly don't much time to write thanks to dance practice and a research paper that's waiting to get done but I hope to make at least 1,500 words today, 2000 would be better, though my goal is 3000 a day (of course I don't know if I will be able to make that)
My English novel has taken a fun plot twist which wasn't going to be there, but as I was writing yesterday it popped into my head and it was such a good idea I had to give in and change the story just a bit :)

I'm SO SO sorry you won't be participating this year Gymfan, somehow NaNo isn't NaNo if you're not in it, but we'll manage....somehow

I hope you'll be able to write a bit Bella, and hooray that you are going to being doing NaNo greenleaf23 and Sonny, best of luck to you all
....and now I ought to go help the poor parents of my MC find their mischievous and disobediant daughter :p

Yesterday was a pretty productive day for my word count. When I clocked out at 10:45pm, I had 4.3k written. Unfortunately, my carefully planned out plot will not be used this month and now I'm winging it. Not entire sure where this novel is going, but I have the ending written. ;))
I'm hoping to get another 4-5k in today and then I won't worry about not getting much done over the weekend.

In past years, i've written two stories simultaneously. This year, it looks like i might be doing three.

I'm not exactly thrilled about hopping from one failing idea to another, but it's hard to be too angry when i've finally caught up word-count wise. And this third story might actually be more interesting and more productive than the other two ... but i'm not counting on it.

On a completely random note, post #700! And it's only taken me six years to get there.

Congrats, Arwenel!

This story is weird. I've done more planning for this one than I did for any of my 3 previous NaNo stories - but my writing is all over the map, plotwise - I'm writing scenes from the beginning, middle and end as the mood or inspiration strikes, leaving other stuff out for now . I'm nowhere close to writing sequentially. Go figure. ;))

Word count's doing all right at this stage too. :)

...I've been told I have the highest word count of any NWebber. 16k and I haven't written anything yet today. Hoping to make it to 18/19k today and 21k tomorrow if everything continues to go well. ;))

for the most part my characters are behaving. Occasionally they act up (like when my MC threatened to eat anchovies. Um, what?), but they're pretty good.

How's everyone else doing? :)

....I've written nearly 500 words!!!

I spent almost my entire weekend doing Spanish homework, so there was little time left for writing a novel (in French). I am determined to keep on at it, though, even though that means my total for the month may be only 3,000. ;))

Hooray for you Lia :) so glad to hear things are going great

I'm coming along, I have a lot of homework and a research paper I have to finish writing, prepare a presentation to and then defend this week, so finding time to write is hard. I'm at 11k with my English novel, I hope to reach 20k, I'm not sure about my Russian one cause so far I've been writing it out by hand, I need to type it up and count the words :p I'm hoping to get to 10k by the end of this week (yes my Russian one is coming a bit slower for now, I'm having trouble with the beginning, I'm thinking of just starting from the middle and write the beginning out later, but I haven't made up my mind yet :)

You never know where writing inspiration might come from...

The December 2012 issue of Sky and Telescope magazine has an article about theoretically-possible detection of alternate universes (the multiverse) by looking for impact echoes in the cosmic microwave background radiation (say that 3 times really fast ;)) ). It talks about the big bang theory's inflation period, string theory, and all sorts of other stuff that would make some great technobabble in my alternate universe story. :)

17K and counting!

I'm not participating in NaNoWriMo, per se, but I am doing my own version. I do like to write sometimes, but I'm pathetically slow, and it's not my chosen hobby. Music and art are closer to my heart. So, I decided to do what I like to call NaMoCreMo, National Monopoly Creating Month. :p Years ago, I really got a hankering to play Disney Monopoly. The only thing was, I didn't own it, and it was "back in the vault" or whatever. So I decided to make my own improved version. I was very gung-ho about it and spent hours making templates on (on Paint!), but I fizzled out. I've had the board and templates under my bed ever since. I have pledged to finish it before December.

Yeah, it's not as ambitious as 50K. Seriously, I don't know how you all can do that. But the best of luck to you all and keep up the good work. You have my respect. ;)

I was making okay progress, until today when I left the house early morning, didn't come back till late night and now I just don't have the strength to write anything, but I probably will, I have too. The only difficult thing is I have a research paper I have to finish and three complete drawings to make, and design two posters (all this is homework), and it has to be completely finished by Friday, I don't know how I'll manage everything and keep my word count moving up hill, but I'll have to...somehow :|

So I'm officially starting over again, from zero words. Hopefully this works out; it's a better concept for me to write, as I will be more confidant in my knowledge and also something I'll enjoy more. :) I can catch up I just have to push myself a little, maybe.

The last two years of my NaNo journey have been fast sprints of excitement; this year it's a slow walk due to some health issues that have flared this year. I'm writing, but the words aren't flowing out as fast as they used to. And I'm okay with that, I think. I still love my story, it just isn't coming out at a frenzied rate.

Despite my slower pace I'm still about three days ahead and I'm sitting on about 24,100 words today. It's my goal to get to 25k and reach the halfway mark, because that would be awesome. I should just probably go get ready for my day first. ;))

One thing: I keep getting inspired for other novel projects, including one that I have wrestled with for two stinking years. And now it wants to be written. Right smack-dab in the middle of November. *facedesk* Anybody else having that problem?

Sorry to hear about your health issues Mountie! Hope you're better soon.

24k is pretty good, however. Good luck. (I'd quote some cliche about 'slow and steady wins the race' but I don't want anyone lobbing rotten tomatoes this way ;)) ).

It's great that you love your story...I find that makes writing it easier.

I think I have the opposite problem to novels intruding in November. The past couple years I've found an idea I really like...in December, January, or February - and there's just no way it's going to wait all the way to November! So writing those stories gave me something more to do during those winter days and nights.

I've found, this month especially, that if I get bogged down in writing that inspiration can often be found away from the keyboard - maybe a walk in the park, during a stargazing session or by a campfire - anywhere I don't have quick access to a keyboard. I bet it's a conspiracy. ;))

So what do all of you do for inspiration?

It's the halfway day... are we all pretty close to halfway? (I haven't written anything today. Yet.)

As for inspiration, I found once when I was having trouble putting words on paper that doing a list saying 'first this happens, then character A reacts which makes this happen' gave me just enough structure to get through the next few scenes. :)

I'm sitting happily at 43k and I'm pretty pleased with the way my novel is turning out. I'm still in the first 10% of my plot, so I doubt I'll actually finish the novel this month, but I'm getting a good chunk of the first part over and done with.

Inspiration normally comes from Tumblr and Pinterest for me. XD I reblog/repin the pretties and get ideas for things that I need to have happen. There's the support group that Mountie added me to for inspiration too. The girls in it are all so encouraging and it's the perfect place for procrastination and word wars when there aren't people on chat. Also, most of my ideas come while washing the dishes. Good thing it's my month to do the dinner dishes? ;))
