If I want a songbook, I buy it or request it for my birthday or Christmas. I have one Paul Baloche worship songbook (which I love - no more playing Offering incorrectly in church) and two Relient K songbooks. I'm not very good at anything from the RK books yet; they're really good, so their music is hard for amatures to pick up. :p

^RK!!!! you are sooo lucky! I don't have any of their songbooks :( . But I really really want them. All I have is the LWW Inspired By songbook, Another Journal Entry by BarlowGirl, and Sound of Melodies by Leeland.

I have The Ultimate Modern Worship Fakebook and BarlowGirl's How Can We Be Silent music book. And then I turned our church hymnal into a fakebook by writing the chords in so I can play in church when my mom's not there. I'd reAlly like to get BarlowGirl's Another Journal Entry book and Taylor Swift's music books.

^I really want How Can We Be Silent. It's the only CD of theirs I really love. Another Journal Entry is pretty cool, it has some sheet music for a few songs off of their debut CD :) .

The book I want the most is Relient K's folio for Five Score. I really want to learn the tab for Devistation and Reform. :)

^I think those and Five Score are the only ones they have...I wonder if they have one for FANSD...doubt it. I would only want sheet music for a few songs anyways.

This is from a few pages back:

The biggest problem I have is remembering which note is for which string.

I have trouble with that too, but you can remember it by saying aloud each string altogether. I say it like "Ebeg-day" or just "E, B, G, Day." It kinda rhymes. :p So, when you look at your guitar strings from the highest to the lowest just say, "Ebeg-day." :p

(this is from highest string to lowest)
E-------------------------------
B-------------------------------
G------------------------------
D------------------------------
A------------------------------
E------------------------------

Glenstorm, when I started playing I hardly had any help. I mostly taught myself by looking up songs and such (Mostly Hillsong United songs which range from easy chords to hard chords often).

That's what I do, too. Except I play mostly Switchfoot/ Jon Foreman, Tenth Avenue North, & Chris Rice songs. If you wanna learn how to play a song (if your starting out, preferably one that sounds not too complicated) just google "Song Title by artist tab". Ex: "By Your Side by Tenth Avenue North tabs.
Click on the one with the site "ultimateguitar.com". They have most songs on there, unless they're really unpopular. Or you could just PM me. :p

Is anyone on here good at finding chords from songs? I was trying to find the chords to "Against the Voices" by Switchfoot, & I can see some of the fingering (it's a youtube video cuz the song isn't out yet), but I can't figure out what tuning it is. It's not standard tuning or half-step tuning. :( Here's the link if anyone wants to try:

I don't have any song books, but I really want The Beautiful Letdown, Five Score, & the Sara Groves Song book. maybe Christmas...

Good one, Pendragon. There are a lot of fun ways to remember, but one of my favorite acronyms is this one: Eddie Ate Dynamite, GoodBye Eddie. ;)

Sorry to veer away from the guitar talk, but I just wanted to pop in and ask a question. Does anybody here play the drums? I'm curious, because I've recently become fascinated with them, :P and they look like fun. Are they hard to learn? A few weeks ago I suddenly realized how little I knew about any of the percussion that I hear all the time in the music I listen to. So I put myself up to the task of learning about all the different kinds of cymbals and toms, etc. Now whenever I listen to music, the percussion sticks out. ;))

MissAravis: I don't play the drums, but I also have an inexplicable interest in them. :) A while ago I started getting interested in drums, and then decided to just listen to the rhythm in every song. Let me just say this - when you listen to a few songs over and over, the rhythm sticks, and imo it definitely gives you a better sense of the percussion in other songs. Now whenever I hear any music at all, the percussion is the part that sticks out the most, so I definitely know what you mean. :D I'm also wondering if anyone here plays the drums, and if they do, I'd love to hear more about them! ;;)

I don't play the drums, but I would like to play them, and bass guitar. Drum/bass combo is really cool, even without any other instruments. :D

My sister plays drums. And I don't mind saying she is very, very good indeed. :D Personally, I've never had a huge interest in them... but anyway.
Lately I have been fascinated with the Bass. I just might pick it up!

Okay, now way off topic, here's a Hillsong United song (from their new album which was released just a couple days ago). It is very good!

I think she's playing E, B and A. But.. I could be wrong. Anyway, carry on!

I've really really really wanted to play drums for a loooooong time. And I'm really close to conving my mom to let me learn! She saw a celtic drum the other day and she asked me if I would like to play that and I said yest so maybe after I learn how to play that she'll let me take some real drum lessons :D .

PELS: I want to play bass too! It's very awesome :D .

edit: this is the kind of drum my mom saw

the one that guy's playing in the video... :)
