Well, the Festive Comet has officially melted. My, that was fun! I'm off to the Harbour now, to try for the Map Piece for the Calm Clearing.
So, what's this about Ronza coming? I hear she's sells some nice goodies, but I have no idea because I haven't been playing long. Hopefully I can save up a good amount of gold before then! Right now I'm at half a million.

Well, I managed to get roughly 550,000 gold before the Comet melted. And I caught two New Years Mice! While I'm waiting for Ronza I'm hunting in the Calm Clearing. Is the Cyclops Mouse attracted to any particular kind of cheese?
I certainly would not object to smashable SG since I still have GB cheese and SG potions.
All my holiday cheese is used up! I am in the mountain, using Swiss cheese, the Forcefield, and the Candy Cane base. Is there a better set up for this location?
"To the Great Western Wood, I give you...."
No, I think that you've got it made right now, EtJ. Be on the lookout for a Ninja mouse (if you haven't gotten one already) as he is the key to moving along in the game.

I, too, am in the Harbour, hoping to get the map piece for the Calm Clearing. I did catch a Granite Mouse, but he did not drop the map. I'm hoping the next time I catch him, he will!
I'm also waiting for Ronza. I have almost have half a million in gold (About 2,000 more gold and I'll be there).

Just swiss or brie. Cherry cheese has a higher Cyclops attraction if you manage to get one of the rare potions that only drops off the Cyclops Mouse and Eagle Owl Mouse. The nice thing though is that the map piece that drops off the Cyclops is a 100% drop so you only have to catch one.
Hey DiGs! I found a post on the MH forum yesterday (and of course didn't copy the link so I have no idea where it was) that I thought might be of particular interest to you. Apparently buying the Gorgon trap, skipping the Clockapult, and crafting the Cackle Lantern is a very solid strategy now. I believe that's what you were planning on anyways, so I thought I'd let you know about it.
Today is Feedback Friday. I'm hoping I'll not forget about it and catch it here in a few hours. I'm crossing my fingers that they'll give more info on Ronza's arrival.

Huzzah! Finally some support for my lunacy! I really want a better shadow trap for the JoD, and wasn't willing to wait for the 24 million points required to purchase the CoT, so the Gorgon trap is my only option. (Of course, the Cackle Lantern is even better ).
I had to spend over 200,000 in gold just now ( ) to buy brie cheese, which I can turn into Radioactive Blue cheese, as well as ionized salt to use to craft ancient cheese. Hopefully I'll be able to get the money back quickly. (I still have 1.6 million in gold, and shouldn't worry too much about Ronza, but now that I have this much gold, I find that I'm turning into a bit of a hoarder )
My current wishlist of things to purchase are as follows:
Gorgon Trap: 989,000 gold
Tribal Base: 499,600 gold
Double Diamond Adventure: 1,090,000 gold
Total: 2,578,600 gold.
Can you say EEP !

That's not bad Digs. I've got the Heat Bath, DDA, and the Cackle to upgrade/craft and it totals about 4.9 mill in gold. And all that's less than the clockapault at 2.7 mill.
I also forgot to add the rhinobot, which I'd really like to get as soon as possible, which comes in around another 1.3 million. . Of course, it's not as much a priority as the Gorgon Trap and Tribal Base (but is moreso a priority than then Double Diamond Adventure Trap)

Well, FBF today confirmed that SOMETHING will happen next week, so I presume that's Ronza. Keep an eye on the travel page to watch for her ship. )Hit Travel and then Full Map.) You'll see it heading towards the Town of Gnawnia. When it lands, she'll be available.
They popped up a few sneak peek pics of (I presume) Ronza merchandise. I missed the first one so I don't know what it was, but the second looked like a new trap, and the third I presume to be the new charm component.
They confirmed there will be at least two, maybe more, of the new charm component piece available for purchase. There will be one that everyone can afford with the Ronza voucher, but beginning players may not be able to afford the top level charm.
Other things they confirmed will be happening again soon... the new Baron/Baroness area *grins at Kat*, the return of Tournaments (YAY!!! ), and one I hadn't heard about yet, I guess they're redesigning the beginning area again (Meadow, Town of Gnawnia, etc).
That's all I remember right now, I'm sure there will be a post up on the MH forum soon summarizing the whole thing.
ETA: Linkage.
Someone must type them up as the presentation is rolling...

I'm looking forward to tournys and the new section. Looks like the Whisker Woods might get an update soon too. Wonder if they'll have the new section be linked to the silth since they once said that the silth was supposed to drop loot at one point.
I leveled up to Apprentice
So, being the newbie that I am, what or who is Ronza?

Congratulations Wolf.
Ronza is a mysterious traveling merchant who appears on very rare occasions to bring us hunters super awesome traps/bases etc. This time, she's bringing a new trap component.
Okay, today I caught the Granite mouse in the Harbour and he dropped the Whisker Woods Calm Clearing map piece, so I traveled there. I just caught a Cyclops mouse and he dropped the map piece for the Great Gnarled Tree.
Now, it seems there are quite a few mice who will give you a lot of gold there. Should I travel there?

In the short period of time from now til when Ronza arrives, I'd say the Great Gnarled Tree is your best bet for making money. Use your Toboggan Trap and Candy Cane Base.
