When you are in the same location as a friend, every time they blow their horn, they take you along on that hunt unless you have a King's Reward you need to claim. That would probably explain most of that. When a friend takes you along, your journal entry will say "I went on a hunt with (insert name) where I was successfull .....". Has that happened?
It has once in awhile. But I think there's a definite glitch in the game as well. It's been acting odd in other areas too.
It is dependent on how many of your friends are actively in the area... right now everyone, or nearly everyone is in the birthday event... though 75 pieces seems rather excessive... The maximum amount of hunts anyone can go on in one day is 120... and that's including all 24 hours so it should be less than that.
Mine also goes through pretty fast though now that I'm thinking of it... I'm pretty sure I went through at least 50 pieces today... but it's a normal rate for me when I have this many friends in the area.
*realizes she's low on bait again and goes to buy another 25 pieces
Also check how stale your trap setup is

Any time you see a trap that has an LE shield on it, that means Limited Edition and it will never return again. The NVMRC is a better trap, but you will always be able to buy it. The Pinata trap will only be available through March 9th so if you want it for sentimental reasons, get it now.
Where does it say LE on it? I don't see it. But then, the shield is a bit hard to see for me right now, because I don't have the money for it yet and so its profile is misted out.
It doesn't say LE actually on it. When it's armed, there will be a shield with "LE" in the upper right corner. Same as when you use an LE base.
See the LE shield at the top right of the Pinata icon? That's where it's at. (The Carrot Cake base is there for comparison cause it doesn't have one.)
fk, why do you think the NVMRC is a better trap then the Pinata?
Personal preference, I like the 2 luck and 10% attraction over the power. About the same catch rate, but the extra luck gets more drops. But that's just me. But you are right about one thing, the NVMRC trap can probably be skipped over altogether to go straight to the Digby Drillbot (which I don't think you can get yet Ithilwen). That's what pretty much everybody else does.

I remember someone telling me you can't get the Cyclops mouse until you upgrade from the Swiss Army to something better. I think I'm supposed to be going after that mouse next. But I only have Swiss Army, and the only other available trap is the NVMRC. How do you go about catching the Cyclops without it?

After a very profitable side trip to the Cats to farm for gold, I am back in the Birthday Event to 1) build my second cake and 2) participate in a tourney with a full team! (Although, it's only a four person tourney, so my team will have to sit one member out for it.) I'm hoping I can check in a few times in the early hours of the tourney because I'll be out and about most of the day, but it doesn't start until late this afternoon for me, so here's hoping. After that, I'll either farm more gold in the Cats or head back to the SG. I went ahead and stocked up on Attraction Charms for my first Tower run, and I'll need to grab some Gouda while I'm in the Garden. Summer doesn't start until Monday morning, so I've got time.
*prays the devs don't throw in any fancy business right after he starts his run and considers waiting until after the 7th to go in (provided he gets the Summer Mage)*

I remember someone telling me you can't get the Cyclops mouse until you upgrade from the Swiss Army to something better.
Not true. My mom nabbed her cyclops with the Swiss army mouse trap and the dehydration base. You'll only have a about a 50% catch rate, but you can definitely do it.
I'm with NAH, I think that this trap is better than the NVMRC. That much of a power bonus would be insane.
With the dehydration base, here are the stats for the pinata trap and the NVMRC:
Pinata:
POWER: 3679
ATTRACTION: 5%
LUCK: 14
CHEESE: Extremely Fresh
NVMRC
POWER: 3233
ATTRACTION: 15%
LUCK: 16
CHEESE: Insanely Fresh
So it's up to you I guess.

I got my second Polaroid and the B'day Cake Base...
Now off to the catacombs to get gold and scrap metal...
I just need the trap and the Cheesecake base... and the MSB, but that's not an event thing

Nice, wolf! I can't wait to finish my second cake.
Man, I am very very slow at building up Icing. I'm at 10 Dollops right now. It's slow because I have no Party Charms and have to keep waiting until I get more as drops.
I got a second Dent. I was considering selling it on the Marketplace and I saw something weird on there. The Dents are going for anywhere from 7k to 10k. However, when you hover over the Dent, it says the suggested price is 77k. Isn't the suggested price usually an average of what's in the Marketplace already? Or is that what the devs think it's worth?
I only need 20k more gold to buy all the bases!
I'm really hoping to buy this Birthday Party Piñata Bonanza. But I don't know if I'll make it... I'm trying to save my money for it, but so far I only have about 129,000 in gold. The trap costs 305,000 gold. And when does this competition end? The 9th?
By the way, thanks everyone for the Nanny Charms. I have 11 of them now. I don't have any Party charms, though, so if you're wondering what to send, those are awesome.
*goes to send gifts to you guys*
Also, where is the smartest place to hunt while still a Journeyman? The Mountain or the Calm Clearing?

Hooray! Our team finished in the top 50% of our Birthday tourney. Lady Arwen and I tag-teamed a lot of the tourney. I'm going to stick around in the Birthday event long enough to finish my second cake and then jump back to the Garden to wait for the change to Summer.
Ithi, I would say the Calm Clearing. The mice there are worth more gold and more points than those in the Mountain (on average). However, you'll want to be sure you get the map piece for the Laboratory in the Mountain. I guess your choice also depends on how well you tend to do in each location.

Ithilwen, I sent you some gold. You should be able to buy the Pinata trap AND use it to catch that Cyclops. As for where to hunt, it's a toss up, but I think you're done with the Mountain, but you still need the Cyclops so I'd suggest the Calm Clearing.
stwin, I saw your team got the top 50% in your tournament, congrats!!
I bought the cheesecake base
Now I just need to save up the money to get that trap.
Do I need to use Ancient to get Scrap Metal in the Catacombs? Because I don't think I've gotten a single piece yet...

I finished my second cake and bought all of the bases except the Chocolate Birthday Cake base. Surprisingly, I got that as a drop off a Terrible Twos mouse. Now, I'm down to 64k gold. I think I'm going to farm gold for a while in the Catacombs until I can build the Heat Bath. I want that before going into the SG again.
Wolf, from what I remember, Scrap Metal is not exactly a super frequent drop in there. I would guess you'd get a couple a day. I don't really remember. And no, you don't need Ancient to get it.

Nope, I use RB. Scavenger mice and Terror Knight mice drop Scrap metal in there. . . it takes a while to get it.
Another option is to use your Digby Drillbot in the Laboratory. The Digby Drillbot occasionally yields scrap metal when hunting steel mice, but it's the only trap that does so. If you have it, great. . . if not, you'll need to buy another one eventually anyways, so you might consider it.

Ancient is definitely faster, however, rb will be fine. Using Digby will probably take a really long time,
Some people may choose to skip MsB but I wouldn't unless you use attraction charms or SB+ since Dragon Jade is as good but no attraction which will certainly not be good
Well, just recently hit wave 4, im coming for you, Warmonger
