Lucy P., I go lots of days (like, months) without make-up. When I do use it, I just use enough to hid blemishes or accentuate certain features, or in a few odd cases, when I have a certain "look" I'm trying to achieve. BTW, absolutely LOVE the article.
You're welcome, LoN. I work on low-budget films, and my specialty is make-up, so I've had to learn a lot of tricks from trial and error, or swapping tips with other artists.

This is my first time on this thread. I wanted to ask, is there a way to fix frizzy, out-of-control hair without straigtening it or making it all greasy with oils and gels? Because I like my curly, hobbitish hair, but I don't want to look like a slob. And so far, I've only been able to leave it be, and I look sloppy; or I put this goop in it that makes it all stiff and gooey... Isn't there a way to have nice, soft, curly hair that doesn't look... freakish?

Ithilwen, I have the same problem. I have crazy, curly hair as well. Have you tried using a diffuser? Maybe that will help.

Ithilwen, I've mostly the same problem, except I don't have nice bouncy hobbit curls. Perhaps one of these products will help: Schwarzkopf Zero Frizz or Spray-It Curly. I switch back and forth between these two, and I can usually fine one or the other in the grocery store. I usually spray them on my wet hair, since it tends to reduce the frizz more that way, and then let my hair dry naturally.
Hope that helps....

Ok, I have Blue green eyes, what colors should I use for eyeshadow and eyeliner? And, how do I put it on without making It look like a mask?
1) Brown eyeshadow, especially if it's slightly shimmery, really brings out blue eyes. However, I've found that basically any color will work. It's just tricky colors like orange, yellow, and red for eyeshadow that you should avoid. Green eyeshadow is fine, but beware of it getting too "murky"...make sure it's a defitinive green. But...I know people always say "oh this color is good for this color of eyes"...but I have never really followed that and haven't had any color disastors yet.
2) How do you put eyeshadow/eyeliner on? Or foundation? If the former, as LA suggested, make sure the eyeliner is as close to the lash line as possible. If you think it looks too "harsh", try smudging it a little. Eyeliner is tricky and takes a lot of practice. I like to run mine right under my lashs, on the "waterline". If you were asking about foundation, the key is to just put a teensy bit on. Don't cake it on and cake it on. And applying some sort of luminizor can help you look glowy and not cakey.
Do you guys ever go a day or two without makeup?
All the time! I don't wear makeup unless I'm going out or seeing people. So if that, then I'll be wearing mascara/eyeliner. But I try to save foundation for more special events cause I don't like how my skin feels after wearing it for days on end.

I'm terrible at doing makeup! Does anyone know if there are any online guides that can help me out on the basics?

Valiant, the easiest online guides are on youtube, since it's easier to learn while watching someone apply makeup instead of just reading about it ( in my opinion).
My favorite youtube makeup artist is the very talented pixi2woo. Just search that name on youtube and you should find her channel. Or just search for titles like "how to put on eyeliner" or "how to match your foundation" and you'll come up with a ton of online how-tos!
Another idea is to go to a department store's makeup counter, and get a "tutorial". I think that most of them however either make you pay for the service, or make you buy something first. BUT...if you have a Sephora near you, you can get this done for free. Just say something like "I have no idea how to apply makeup and was wondering if I could get a consultation on what eyeshadow/foundation/lipstick/whatever is best for me."

Thank you Valiant_Lucy, That will really help me out!

I usually don't wear any makeup to school. Occasionally i'll put eyeshadow on if I have time in the morning or I have a blemish I'd like to draw attention away from. I don't have any concealer or foundation because my skin's so sensitive so my mom said she rather not take the chance and let me futher harm my skin by using it. Also sometimes I won't get enough sleep the last night so in the morning and throughout the day I'd rub my eyes so I just like to have a clean face for school.
For Christmas I got this fabulous sparkly eyeliner from Sephora and i absolutly love it!

What other tips (other than the eyeliner on top) can make small eyes look bigger? My eyes are hazel, BTW.

To make small eyes appear bigger, it's a good idea to start with your eyebrows. They should be well groomed and "high" enough off your eyes so as not to create a overhang effect A well created eyebrow can open up your eye area and make your eyes appear more noticeable. I'd reccomend going to a professional for brow waxing/tweezing/threading. Really, eyebrows can make or break your eyes.
Another idea is to put a tiny bit of illuminator or silvery/goldy colored eyeshadow in the inside corner of your eye (not actually in the tear-duct area, but on the skin, like where your glasses sit). I use this product from Sephora, just a teensy dab right there brightens up and helps your eyes seem wider apart. You can also use this to put a dab on your brow bone, and on your cheek bones. I absolutly LOVE it!

Since I was in a play lately, and bought loads of makeup for it, I wear a little bit now, for special occasions. Usually mascara, always lip gloss, and sometimes some blush. But I still deeply dislike the zombie dark eyeliner thing that so many girls do . . I mean, some can even carry it off, and I'm not condemning it, but - attractive? Feminine?
lol . so that was really random.

I usually only wear eyeshadow, mascara, and lip gloss, though occasionally I'll go the whole nine yards and use powder, eyeliner, and blush in addition to the previously mentioned products. That is very rare though.
Elanor, I won't wear any other eyeliner than black. I'm not sure how good it looks on me cause no one has commented on it. I don't think I go overboard though.
