It was a very relaxing and enjoyable day spent with family, thanks. Plus special wishes from friends and other family via phone, cards, emails, texts, and visits. Really nice.
More celebrations are upcoming over the next month. I do prefer when birthdays are spread out, rather than cramming the festivities all into a day or two.
That sounds like it was a wonderful day! Glad you had so much fun And yes, I guess that means celebrating longer!!

Happy birthday, Varna! Hope it's a good one for you.
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away ... my days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle
Happy Birthday Varna
Have a fantastic day!

I just want to say that that is a beautiful cake :O In fact, I want it for MY birthday. You didn't make it, did you johobbit?

Oh my, I wish I could say I made it, but no, Valiant_Nymph, it was just a lovely photo I found on the web. Yes, isn't it gorgeous? (A few too many rings there, though, possibly? ) I do love the intertwining branches and leafy theme. Very Lothlórien-ish.

Haha I thought so too at first, but I think there are exactly the amount of rings as correspond to the great rings of power: 3, 7, 9.
Looks fantastic!

Oh my, of course, d'uh Jo, that would be it. Good thinking, Valiant_Nymph!
Varna, did you have any special plans for today, or are you having a celebration on the weekend?

Thank you all for good wishes - and thank you for the beautiful cake, johobbit!
Valiant_Nymph, well spotted about the rings. They are even grouped on the cake according to the numbers: 9 for the Men, 3 for the Elves, and 7 for the Dwarves.
I haven't planned anything special for this year, but I've had some phone calls and text messages today, and as it was a Friday I had the day off, so it's been a good day.
Next Wednesday there will be a small celebration in the lunchbreak at work, as today wasn't convenient. I guess there will be cake - but nothing as fancy as that Lothlórien-ish one. No surprise party, the boss thought it would be more important to announce it and make sure people (staff of 7 or 8 people) would be able to attend.

Varnafinde, I think your boss had good thinking I don't care for surprise parties myself, because that means I never get any input on what we are doing

Happy birthday, coracle!
Poetry in the moonlight was a dangerous thing.
Adding good wishes for the day, coracle!

Thank you! Jo, I am impressed by a coracle cake!!
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
