These are indeed unusual times but this thread is a nice reminder of virtual friends we've come to know here. I'm grateful for all the friendships here.

I'd like to see that southern Milky Way someday, coracle. Perhaps in the next decade or so.

I did indeed see a few stars this morning, along with the very pretty full moon. If the clouds stay away I hope to see Venus this evening.

Happy Birthday, Stargazer — glad you're having a good one. If you ever do see the southern hemisphere stars, you'll have to learn how to find the Southern Cross (look for the two Pointers). My other favourite constellation is Orion, which is visible in the southern skies for part of the year (over our summer). I haven't learned the northern stars yet, but whenever I see Orion here, it's like seeing an old friend! (Except he's the other way up over here.)

That's all right — it's not such a well-known profession, I realise! This is where I work, which gives a bit more info.

I happen to have a day off work today (not planned or requested, it was just how the scheduling turned out!) and have just been having a nice quiet time. I had a video call with my family in Australia this morning (evening for them), which was fun — not much news where they are, but they're also staying safe and well. They are sending me a birthday parcel in the mail, which I suspect will contain goodies such as Mint Slice biscuits and Twisties — almost impossible to get in the UK (except at very great expense) — but it hasn't arrived yet...
