Love the new forum and site layout, but I miss the old one too, i just felt like home

NothinButNarnia, I've gone ahead and updated your post count and the admins can change your join date. So you aren't starting out as a newbie. Check your pms for additional details.

It took me until this morning to be able to visit the forums. But it didn't let me go directly to the Spare Oom. I was able to go to Narnia & Christianity and Prayer Requests, but not Spare Oom. From one of those two, I was able to use the forum jump to get to the Spare Oom. Now that I am on, I hope I won't get redirected to the old forums again next time I log on.

The biggest thing I don't like is not having the format BBCodes available on a regular reply. I'm the kind that won't think about needing to click on the "Post a Reply" button before I start posting for doing bold or italics until I get to that point.

I did notice the upload attachment part below the "Post a Reply" options. That could be useful than having to copy and paste things for a very long post in threads like Christianity, Religion, and Philosophy.

Overall, it will take me a few days to get adjusted to the format (like poster identity on the right side instead of the left) but it looks good.

EDIT: Wow, just found the new Character profiles. I never would have thought they'd be set up wiki-style like that... very interesting. Is it just me or is there more now than there were before?

No, it's the same amount. I think we are mostly done with the main characters at this point.

I don't think you will. The issue was probably a DNS one... other sites do not recognize that NarniaWeb has a completely new layout. It's like they have cookies of their own that stay stored. It takes a little while for the change to filter through. Time is really the only solution.

I agree, but originally there was no quick-reply box at all. You had to click the Post Reply button to even get a post reply box at all. One thing you could do is click the Preview button when you're writing a post. It will show you what you have so far, with your post box below. And all the controls and options will show up then.

I'm still getting used to the new smilies, actually. I think I prefer the old ones...

Got off for a while and am back. I still can't get to SO directly from the forum index. It gives me an Error 404 message and gives me a link back to the old forum site. But I can still navigate through the forum jump. Doesn't make sense. The only thing I can think of is that I've spent most of my time on NWeb at SO and GMD, so the cookies haven't adapted yet. In either case, I am on so I am happy.

Why is there no laughing/giggling emoticon? I miss the previous one and even the sniggering one used in the chatroom.

There is, you just have to click "View more smilies" to find it. Or you could just put "; ) )" and you'll get (if you take out the spaces).

I like the new site, although it will take a little getting used to! I'll miss the old NW but I'm sure I'll get used to this. The transition of my acount went fine, so I'm pretty happy. I don't care for the new smilies though.

Other then missing the old forum just a tad, the new one has been splendid! I need to get used to the new codes for quoting people, etc, and a few more little details, but so far nothing has been causing trouble.

Congratulations on the relatively smooth transition. Rotten Tomatoes recently did a major upgrade that was supposed to last 4 days, and took a month, so your estimate was pretty good. I like the look a lot. One thing, though, and I don't mean to be overly critical, but the 'Community Forums' banner/graphic just doesn't look that nice. Not as nice as everything else, at least. I know the font is supposed to look "rough", but it has the effect of looking more like a graphic that was rendered without anti-aliasing. It's too big, unattractive, and detracts from the rest of the (very handsome) design. Apologies to whomever made it. Not trying to be mean. Just giving feedback.

My computer is still logging me out, both on the forum and in chatroom. Is there anyway I can fix this problem?

I'm loving the new site and forums!! Everything seems more streamlined than before
I really like the new "post a reply" area. It makes posting a lot easier for me.
And the colors are so similar to the old site which makes it feel more like home!

AWESOME! I like just about everything, except for the cursive/fancy writing at the top, thats a little too fancy for an informal community, it makes it seem more like it has to be fancy and expensive.

I was really worried that it wouldnt be all it was cracked up to be, great job mods!!
