Regarding the DNS: my home access to New NarniaWeb was quick, but at work everything kept directing me to the new site. That got annoying, but now I'm back home (early on a Friday) and enjoying all the reactions. (And it just now occurred to me that by using the super-secret IP address, I could have accessed the new forum even from work anyway ... duh.)
Another trick of note: quote boxes work just a little bit differently. Before they went like this:
I think, therefore I am.
(Which, by the way, seems at best a theologically vacuous statement.)
Now you have to put quote marks -- " " -- around the Somebody.
I think, therefore I am.
It took me a while to figure it out, but it kind of adds a greater air of "completeness" to the code, don't you think?

But I’m having problems getting up the nerve to use a third party image host. I’ve read through the stuff in the Fan Art section, but I’m still rather nervous. I worry about viruses, spyware, etc. I know that some of the sites don’t require you to register so I assume email addresses will not be necessary. I guess I just want to know if they are safe. (I don’t know if others would be interested in this but I thought it might be nice to have a poll or a review of some the major image hosting sites so that nervous people could see what other NarniaWebbers use and what they like / don’t like about certain sites.) Just typing this I’m beginning to feel a little better.
Hey, Pattertwigs Pal. All the new features were pretty overwhelming for me too when I first saw the new forum, and even now it's hard to keep things from being confusing. Just give it some time; it will even out and you'll get acquainted with all the new features and it will all be fine.
As for the image hosting sites, I can vouch for the three sites I recommended in the Uploading tutorial (Imageshack.us, Tinypic and Photobucket). Photobucket requires that you make an account using an email address to upload pics, but Imageshack and Tinypic don't, and they're both very safe. If you have up-to-date anti-virus software, you don't need to worry about picking up nasty stuff, especially from those sites. I've been using them for years with no ill effects.
(I found it interesting that Gymfan15 last post count on the old NarniaWeb contained all sixes)
Haha, thanks. I kind of stopped worrying about that kind of thing when I got my cell-phone number and it contained three consecutive 6's.
Pattertwings Pal, under the smileys on the side bar is a link that says "view more smilies." Click that and you'll get more.
Thanks. I was going to type that I was still having trouble when I clicked on the smilie I wanted and noticed that it put the code in the top section and then I had to copy it and paste it in the message.
Gymfan15 - Thanks for vouching for those sites. I do have up to date antivirus, so I know I should be okay. I'm begining to feel much better about the switch. I love that it is so easy to quote more than one person.

I just found the numbers interesting since those numbers are often associated with end times stuff and the old NarniaWeb was ending.

That only works if you're not using any other formatting in the post, which excludes people like me who write in a certain color.
Fortunately, one of the mods told me in the old forum how the quoting would work here, so I was all set. Otherwise, I wouldn't have totally been thrown for a loop.

Btw guys, if you want to show BB code here without disabling all code, there's a nifty
tag you can use, like this.

Eh... it's a little confusing, but whatever, I'll get used to it. Everything looks great too, except for the narniaweb banner at the top. What's with the lack of color? Dark brown and gray? Yeah, don't like it, probably never will, but everything else is cool. Thanks for all the hard work!

Gymfan Ah yes, that code tag is pretty cool!
Eruce, how did you get that special ë back in your username? I thought those weren't allowed on here any more.
Umbarto, the current banner is the color it used to be before it was red. Personally, I really didn't like the red, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Now, I'm really glad to have it back to brown. But, even though you may not like, I'm sure you'll get used to it soon like I got used to the red one.

Right now the chatroom doesn't work for me for some reason. It logs me in and then kicks me out immediately afterward. Is anyone else having this problem?
I tried that. And I am having the same problem with chat.
Is there a link to the old NarniaWeb anywhere?
Ahh man! There's no place in the profile that shows where that person is looking. Watching profiles used to be a hobbie of mine (and a lot of other NWebbers).

Though still very saddened by the loss of old Narniaweb with all its posts etc, I must admit that this new one looks very nice. I really like that the look of the site didn't completely change (as compared to the change TLC just did) as it has a similar colour scheme and layout. The avatars and sidebar being on the right is very strange, but I suppose I'll get used to it. Anyway, nice job everyone who worked on it!
I left Narniaweb for inexplicable reasons in the beginning of June 2010 and probably will not be returning (much as I love this place). So if you're wondering why I disappeared, now you know! (sort of...)
I do miss the old NarniaWeb! Though I do really like the look of this new NW!!! Thanks to all those who worked on it! You're works is appreciated.
The only thing is my avatar and status and how many posts and when I joined and my location is all where my signature is. Is it like that on any one elses computer?

What browser are you using?
I use firefox
I was expecting a much bigger change! But the colours are the same and that already makes it feel much less different... It's not the radical change I was expecting. I like it! My only comment is that it feels a bit narrow, but that's probably my old computer's fault; the screen resolution isn't the same.
