I do like most of the new smilies, but I miss some of the old basic ones like the old lol and wink and tongue.

i think is meant to be used if something is really funny. Like you really laugh.
All works fine here now, all is good. Love the new NarniaWeb!
Now, if someone could explain why my topic subscriptions aren't sending me email notifications, I'll be a happy camper .

Unfortunately, the e-mail subscriptions don't work the same way here as they did on the old forum. It sends you one e-mail and then no more until you log back in and then it does the same thing again.
I like the creative names for the rules of each section.
Somebody noticed! Yay!
It was one of the very first things I noticed. I just forgot to mention it for a while.
I'm wondering if those little arrows in the corner of each post are supposed to take you to the top of the page. They say top but when I click on them I don't go anywhere. I've tried it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. I'm using Firefox right now and I noticed that it is checking my spelling as I type. Is that unique to Firefox or is there a way to get Internet Explorer to do it too?

Since I've been using my Google Chrome browser, most of my problems seem to have resolved.
I'm not quite sure what you mean Starkat. I can leave myself automatically logged in, just like the old Narniaweb. Do you mean that it only sends one email until I post again? In any case, I was happy to find notifications from all topics subscribed to this morning, regardless of whether I had recently posted on it . Maybe I just need to pop in once a day to be automatically logged in and receive notifications .

I have been getting emails when i have an automatic log in.
A gravatar can be gotten by going to Gravatar.com and creating an account there. Then, whenever you type in, say, "Gymfan15" in a blog comment field, Gravatar will automatically insert your icon there. I don't know exactly how it works; all I can say is that it does.
The gravatars are attached to an email address - you can create one account and keep several email addresses and gravatars in the same account. Then the email address (not the user name) you use when you post your comment, decides which gravatar will be used.

Oh, ok, didn't know that. I only use Gravatar for NWeb news commenting, so yeah, goes to show how much I know. Thanks!
Forgive if this has been covered already but this is already a post about not being able to find something ...
We used to have a feature that prompted NarniaWeb to send an e-mail when a member received a new Private Message. I've searched the control panel and don't find that command anymore. I did receive a PM but no e-mail that I'd received one. (For those of us who use lab or public computers this really helps us budget our time on machines we don't own.) Is the feature still there and I just missed it?

To add to starkat's answer, there is a setting on your profile under Board Preferences > Edit Posting Defaults to "Notify me on replies by default." Basically it just checks the box under the Post Reply box so that you will always receive an email when someone posts after you in a thread. However, that is the only email you'll get from that thread till you visit it again.

Hmm, I hadn't noticed those. They don't work for me either (on IE7).

Actually there is a way to receive an email notification of a PM. Under Board Preferences on your User Control Panel, click the Edit Global Settings tab on the left. The fifth option down says "Notify me on new private messages." Check that box and you should be good to go. There is another option right below that if you want to receive the pop-up message about your new PM when you log in.
One of the nice things about emails for PMs now is that the emails contain the full body of the PM — so you can read it without having to log in

Thanks WW . I am used to the one notification thing from other forums. I was puzzled though, because it seemed like I either wasn't getting any notifications, or notifications for some threads but not others. Though, that seems to be resolving as I am being more careful to check in and check the notification boxes under the reply box. I'll be sure to check my preferences.

Glad I could help. I'm used to being automatically subscribed to the topics I post in, so finding that setting on my control panel was very helpful (thanks belzinga for pinpointing it!).

Thank you WW. The e-mail notifications arrived after I'd gone for the day. So they're working, just took a little while.

A quick question...
Is there any plan to reintroduce the "1 post limit" on the news story comments section? Although it has been kind of useful being able to post more than once, it does seem to be taking a lot of the discussion away from the forums, which have been incredibly slow the past few days, in spite of the constant flow of pictures and video in the news.
In the past it was fine, since most of the news comments tended to just be the "oh wow, thats cool" sort of comments, which would usually have just clogged up the forum topics anyway, but now you're getting situations where full blown debates are developing within the comments sections, and its kind of annoying having debates on single issues split between the news comments, the podcast comments, as well as the main forum comments. Especially hard trying to inter-reference between the various locations.
