Thanks Alyosha! That will save me time.

my current absolute favourite thing ever - that little button next to the thread title that zooms you straight to the last unread post on a thread. Genius! How did we not have that before? Unless of course we did have that before, and i just never noticed, resulting in many lost hours spent trawling through threads trying to find the place i left of at. lol.

Same here! I don't recall it on the other forum, or at least, it wasn't as obvious as this feature. It's very helpful. :)

There was something similar. Next to the date of the last post there was a little arrow. If the arrow was yellowish it would take you to the last unread post. If it was gray it would take you to the last post. Sometimes I would know I hadn't read all of the post but it wouldn't be yellow. This one works a lot better. Isn't funny how different people figure out different things. I spent a lot of time wondering how icarus was able link directly to other posts. ;))

first off, i'd like to say kudos to the NarniaWeb team for the successful transition from old boards to the new one. i'm liking the new changes so far and the fact that the boards are slightly darker, anything that would help the 'ol eyeballs from getting too strained.

i'm wondering if a few suggestions can be incorporated to make the boards slightly more user friendly:

1.) to have a "font style" drop down menu across the top of the reply field. in the old boards you had this. although the codes are still in place if i do this manually, it would be so much quicker if there was the option to just select the font style from a drop down menu (arial, times new roman, georgia etc)

2.) a multi-quote option would be so helpful, specially for threads where there have been several pages of replies. i'm aware that there is the quote option at the bottom of the reply field but they only have a limited number of posts that are shown, and usually are the ones on the last page. it still doesnt make it any easier if you wanted to quote someone on the beginning pages and the thread is already 1o pages long (much like this one).

uhm, thats it so far. again thanks folks for the smooth transition and hope you can consider my suggestions. :-bd

I'm not really sure quite where to post this, but I suppose since this seems to have to do with the forum switch this is ok.

When I subscribe to the podcast RSS feed, it says 49-53 are unavailable. :-s

Hello!
I love the new look! There are so many things I haven't yet explored. It looks so much more professional. It looked pretty professional before, but now it's improved! ;)

The only problem that I've had so far is the chat room. It doesn't always "refresh" so when someone else posts a response, I can't see it until I post again. Today, I don't think it was even showing other people's post either. /:)
I know the chat room isn't a main part of the site, but I thought I would bring your attention to it. The chat room is one of the reasons I'm on here--I like to talk to friends and meet new ones. :)

Thanks
Lindir

A few thoughts here. I like the overall design very much, most of the changes are very thoughtful. A few things visually that I don't like right away. I don't know what the placement requirements are for the advertisements compared to their earnings, but I really think the top banner would be better placed going below the header. There's just something about a header that's not at the extreme top that doesn't seem right. Right below it on the left column would definitely be okay with me.

I also think the forum is a tad narrow, and I find the forum sidebar on the right side a bit perplexing, but that is somewhat common, so I can get used to that. I think overall, the site seems a little big, though a lot of sites (like facebook) seem a bit bigger now. I don't know how much I am in the minority of 1024x768, but websites seem to be less conservative with screen real estate nowadays.

But overall, very nice design! Thank you to the admins and mods who made all this happen so smoothly!

Your screen resolution is definitely in the minority these days.
As for the ad banner, I think it would be more distracting if it were below the NarniaWeb banner. It's best as is.
The one thing I'm coming to grips with is having the user information to the right of the post and not the left (I'm left-handed so it seems back-to-front).

I agree, i'm finding that very odd. And yay for fellow left-hander!!! :D
Sorry if this has been answered before , but is there a way to see who's in the chatroom without going on, like on the old forum?

None of your PMs and actual posts transferred over to the new forum, but you can still access them at the Old forum...FK posted the link in the first post of this thread. :)

Not technically a forum question, but i was wondering... on the news stories, it is very difficult, often impossible, to save photos with the new pop-up system. Sometimes it will allow you to save the photos to your hard-drive, most of the time though it won't. Unless of course thats deliberate and you don't want us to save all the photos to our hard-drives?

No, I don't think it's a deliberate thing, icarus. We've got issues with the current news images set-up, as you can see; all pictures display at full-size and it's nearly impossible to see the "whole picture", and since it's difficult to save pics to one's computer at best, it's pretty annoying.

FK and Tirian are working on it, so I'd just give it some time. :)

Maybe someone has already asked this, but is there a way to receive email updates on threads we post to? And what's the difference between "subscribe topic" and "bookmark topic"? :-

What I will miss about the forum is the pictures that changed across the top, I loved that part. I loved the old site and soon it will be gone. :(( But I know it is for the best and I will get used to this new site. Plus I already like the new post and reply features. :D Hurrah, Tirian and the rest who helped make these new features possible.

Yay, thanks for the help everyone :D . I found the normal reply box. Everything is starting to make more sense now. It's just like moving to a new country ;) . I'll soon acclimate to the new surroundings.

PS Is it just me, or are the etxra smilies kind of glitchy. At first they seemed to work, but now they aren't responding to my clicks.

Also, some glitching has caused me to lose a couple of posts in a row. Any helpful hints???
