Yes. Yes it does. I'm also something of a tuna salad junkie too...the trick is to put just enough so that it binds the chicken/tuna together. I run into problems when people start scooping the mayo in with serving spoons. Blech! Plus the scallions and celery mask the mayo taste as well. I'm a weirdo. :p

Well, I won't deny that you are a weirdo, ;)) but I understand about the chicken/tuna salad and mayo. When I make egg salad or tuna salad, I use just enough Miracle Whip to hold it together. The only way I'll eat mayo or mayo like stuff (Miracle Whip for example).

I forgot to mention in my last post that my mom, sister and I spent last Saturday baking. My mom and I did some baking on Thursday too. My sister had her Senior Piano Recital on Sunday and we were in charge of the refreshments. We made banana muffins, banana bread, applesauce muffins, apple bars, lemon bars, mini cheesecakes, and cookies. My sister used cookie cutters to cut the cookies out, I decorated them and my mom arranged them on the tray. They looked very good. Unfortunately, I didn't get a change to take picture :(( because they were wrapped up and when they were unwrapped I was too busy serving and unwrapping other stuff to get a picture. When I had a minute, they were already half gone. We made butterflies, grand pianos, musical notes, and tulips. I dyed some sugar black for the pianos and the bodies on the butterflies.

Heeeeeeeey!!!

Ok, so I'm a weirdo. ;))

Amen, sister. Mayonaisse is evil, as I'm fond of pointing out. But it's at times a necessary evil because without it you couldn't have tuna salad sammiches, which are top notch in the sandwich world. Chicken salad is merely adequate to me, as is ham salad. Egg salad is the bomb diggity (if I may be so bold)...my wife and I are going to be loading up on eggs this weekend and hard boiling them, so when it's time for devouring I'm giving serious thought to slamming out some egg salad sandwiches. Maybe even some deviled eggs if we have enough left over...those are good too. :D

You’re in luck, Shadowlander. How long have you been a mod anyway? It’s been pretty recent, right?)

Yeah, since yesterday...well (*looks at his watch*) since the day *before* yesterday actually. It's kind of frightening, eh? =))

You set yourself up so nicely for that I just couldn't resist. =)) (To be fair I will admit that I do often say "I know I'm weird")

Are you going to dye the eyes too since it is Easter weekend? We are going to be hard boiling eggs this weekend too, and I'm looking forward to egg salad sandwiches. I don't think I've ever had deviled eggs.

It is kind of frightening. ;)) Now I run the risk of getting a mod mad at me when I joke around with you. :-s

*chuckles at all the weird-o talk* ;)) Great-looking cookies, Pattertwigs Pal ( ... and I do like your signature, too). :)

You wanna hear weird? I get a craving, only now and then, mind you, for sliced, tart green olives spread out across a piece of hot toast lathered with sticky, ooey-gooey peanut butter. The contrast between the olives and the pb is glorious. ;;)

I have to say that peanut butter and green olives doesn't sound even remotely appealing, but then again neither does hard boiled eggs mashed with vinegar and salt, and that's one of my favorite snacks that I've been craving lately. ;)) I like vinegar mixed with lots of things; shredded or thinly peeled carrots especially.

Mmm, I love vinegar, Gymmie. Rather than a creamy salad dressing, I'll definitely go for the vinegar/garlic-based mixture (and the more garlic and vinegar, the better). I also am partial to cucumbers dipped/soaked in vinegar. I'm not a big chip eater, but if I have any, salt & vinegar are a big favourite. So,yeah, vinegar fan here too. :D

And I'll have to try the carrots, plus (possibly ;) ) the hard boiled eggs mashed with vinegar and salt.

Ooh I love vinegar. I must say peanut butter and olives don't sound very appealing, but I like eating caramel kisses and nacho cheese together so I guess that's a weird combination too :p .

Shantih, a few pages ago, you had posted pictures of some strawberry muffins you made- they looked so scrumptious, would it be all right with you if you could share the recipe? :)
Ditto about the salt and vinegar chips, Jo! I could eat two bags of those daily...
Patterwigs Pal, the sugar-crystal cookies look really tasty!
CS, out of all the things you've made, the casserole thing is my favourite. ^_^

Well, I tried yet another macaroon recipe. They turned out acceptable, I suppose. I know they taste much better today than they did yesterday when right out of the oven. This wasn't a lousy recepie, but I found a much better one and I can't wait to try it. It involves whipping cream, condensed milk, and sour cream so I suppose that will get the taste that I'm striving for.

aah yes, much better. Very tasty-sounding actually *yum* :p

Good! :D :P I'm glad you approve.

is this the hamburger helper, meal you are talking about http://images.google.com.au/images?hl=e ... a=N&tab=wi

if so it looks gross.

That's not the kind that I'm talking about. Mine is made from scratch and isn't like that. I don't like that kind. ;))

Does anyone have a really good recipe for soft and chewy cookies? I tried one and it turned out to rather floury.

What kind of cookies? I have a great recipe for chocolate chip cookies, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. :)

My Mom got The Cake Book by Tish Boyle from the library recently and I really want to try her Chocolate Coconut Cupcakes with Milk Chocolate Coconut Ganache. Mummm, now I'm hungry for some chocolate...and I know right where our stash is. ;) Must. Exercise. Restraint.

That sounds REALLY good! I'll have to look for that book. :) *is curious if the restraint worked or if SnowAngel had some chocolate* :P ;))

I just finished eating a fresh out of the oven whole wheat roll. Delicious! My Mom made them and she's a great cook. :D You can ask Scarlet, if you think I am baised. :)

Mmm! Fresh rolls are the best!! Would you mind sharing your recipe? My family has a good one, but I'm always interested in trying something new. :)

The cupcakes look soooo good, Shantih!

Well, I think “Primavera” simply means vegetables. I have several different recipes that have “Pasta” and “Primavera” in the title. Usually there is some kind of a sauce as well. Sometimes it includes meat.

Ah, okay, thanks! :)
Great job on the Easter cookies! They look really good! My Mom and I made some little "nests" with M&M's in them for eggs and also flower cookies for Easter, but alas, I didn't get any pictures.

We made banana muffins, banana bread, applesauce muffins, apple bars, lemon bars, mini cheesecakes, and cookies.

Wow, those all sound great! :D

Re the mayonnaise is evil discussion: I totally agree! I don't know why, but I have an aversion to mayo. Everyone in my family likes to have it on sandwiches and burgers, but I have never liked that. I can only eat it if it's in Chicken Salad. ;))

The macaroons look like they turned out really well, Bella!

Today, I made a Philadelphia Vanilla Cheesecake Mousse (that's what it's called ;)) ). I found the recipe in a Southern Living and thought it looked really neat. I haven't ever made a cheesecake before, but I think that it has turned out pretty well. It's for dessert tomorrow so I'll take some pictures then and post them (if I can remember).

*can't believe all this heresy about mayonnaise*! :P Mayonnaise is seriously my preferred condiment. It's so tasty, especially that specific type. Ohhh, I love it in sandwiches and burgers.
After that it's ketchup, but NEVER in hot dogs. Only outsiders from my city eat anything but mustard in their hot dogs. (Ketchup in hot dogs *is* good, but mustard is first-rate.)

Thanks, Djaq! Oooh, the cheesecake sounds good. I look forward to pictures. :)

Today I tried a recepie I found online which was said to be secret and "the best macaroon recepie out there...really, I mean THE best." Their promises weren't shallow, it was amazing! :D (The only thing I tweaked was the baking time, because I don't know how high heated an oven they were using but 10 minutes was definitely not enough for mine.) They were called Tres Leches Macaroons, and used no sugar, egg or anything. Just condensed milk, coconut shreds, sour cream, vanilla, and whipping cream. I was really impressed and they taste phenominal (and look so much more prettier and appetizing than any other cookie I've made...) (According to the recepie, I dipped them in chocolate)
Here is a picture. (sorry for the bad quality)
Additionally, my sister made Kolacky (which is I think from an Eastern European country. I *think* Hungary, but I don't know for certain.) it's basically a cream-cheese dough with strawberry/blackberry jam/filling in the middle and then folded with two ends meeting. Very tasty! :)

Yes, I've eaten too much confectionary for one day. ;)) Apart from confectionaries, my mom made cut and spiced okra and unleavened flat bread. Yum! Just a dollop of unflavoured yougurt to balance the taste and it's pure bliss for okra lovers.

Then I obviously don't live in your city. :P If I ever eat a hot dog, I use ketchup on it. ;))

It was really good! Everyone loved it so I was really happy about it!
Here's a picture.

And I can post a recipe if anyone is interested. :)

Great job on the macaroons! They look excellent!

I've been reading through some of our cookbooks and have found a lot of recipes that I want to try. :) If I do try them, I'll post about them here.

What has everyone been eating lately? What do y'all plan to eat? And, another random question, do you guys plan menus (weekly or otherwise)? We do occasionally but haven't been lately. I think I need to start again. ;))

My mom bought three hours of unsalted butter yesterday (accidentally) so I'll hopefully be baking some stuff this week :p . I don't like unsalted butter on bread :|

You can eat it if you want but that is some nasty, repulsive stuff right there. Blech!

I guess this depends on where one lives. Like barbecue hot dogs tend to vary from region to region. My family is originally from NY and so ketchup on a hot dog is akin to sacrilege. Down here in NC they usually put slaw on their hot dogs, which isn't bad (provided it's the red slaw with no mayo in it ;)) ). And of course there's the immortal....*drum roll* Chili Cheese Dog, which requires no condiments on it whatsoever. :D I personally prefer a ketchup-free hot dog, but then again I love sauerkraut and mustard on mine and most people will howl in protest at the thought of putting sauerkraut on anything. 8-}

Hot dogs are my weakness...my kryptonite.

Really?! You don't like it?! I LOVE mayo! Why don't you like it? Have you tried vegenaise? One time my friend and I had a contest of sorts to see who could eat the most mayonaise ;)) . It was a while ago. Together we ate almost a whole jar :p .

*wears a look of total horror*

One time my friend and I had a contest of sorts to see who could eat the most mayonaise.

*covers his eyes*

Together we ate almost a whole jar .

I almost passed out reading that...power-eating a jar of mayonaisse! Oh the imagery, with little curdled white goo all over your lips and those overeager eyes signaling the return of the tablespoon to the jar...Oh Heaven help me!

*curls into a fetal position and sobs uncontrollably*
