=)) *gasps!* Ahahah, I beg to differ, good Shadowlander. ;) Chicago style pizza sorta reigns. ;;) Heh! The true Chicago style fans don't need a fork and a knife. You just pick up the massive thing, and presto! take a bite. ;] The toppings aren't that sloppy, unless someone wanted like, everything on it. =/

Libby, they actually put strawberries on pizza or...? :S

I'm good with pretty much any topping on a pizza but hate anchovies (they're far too hairy and salty).

Best pizza toppings:
Cheese (not fussed as to what kind)
Sun-dried tomato
Oregano
Basil
Onion
Garlic
Mushroom
Capsicum (what you Americans call 'bell peppers')
Various meats (not Spam!)
Chilli

I'm going to have to say my absolute favourite pizza topping is...cheese. Cheese, plain and simple. ;)) And my least favourite 'common' topping is the tomato sauce. ;))

Yes, call me boring, but I like my pizza just plain and simple. :)

Is it true that American pizza is normally very plain? I know I'm naive to even think that pizza in American TV/movies is anything like pizza in real life but is there any truth to it? From what I've seen they're very thin and unappetising. They look like they're just dough with heaps of melted cheese and if you're lucky, there's a dash of meat scraps. It often looks like something the cat produced after choking on a hairball. Ick. :p

*gives W4J a quizzical look*

I guess it depends on what movies one is watching ;)). There are several styles out there...is that what you're referring to? The pizzas I've always gotten have been loaded with copious amounts of toppings, although sometimes you have to specifically request to get extra of something (usually cheese).

Okay, here's a photo of what I mean (only this still looks more appetising that the pizza I've seen on many American TV shows/movies).

That looks like a standard thin-crust pizza with extra cheese...the proper way to eat that, by the way, is to fold it in half and work your way from the inside out. ;))

The Chicago-style is really thick and hard to maneuver like the thin crust is and is considerably more loaded with toppings.

Edit: Now you're got me curious...what does Australian pizza look like?

Hmm... that's a tough one. There's a huge amount of variety but they all share several basic similarities. They slice veggies and meat large enough to be recognisable, there are more than two toppings and they don't have so much cheese that you can't see what's beneath.

For example: Dominoes Pizzas are a good price and made with fresh ingredients but they're not gourmet. Here's what one may look like.

.I see what you're talking about...the toppings on that pizza sort of leap out at you from the box ;)). They have things like "Cheese/Meat/Pepperoni-Lover's" pizzas where they're really pile on specific toppings like that, although I don't know if I've ever seen one with pieces of green bell peppers quite that *large* :-o. After seeing it I guess I can understand why one would think our pizzas look a little sickly ;)).

I love any toppings on pizza except garlic, tomato slices is weird (tomato sause is already a main ingredient on pizza 8-| ) and Halipinno <-- however you spell it.

I honestly think that Domino's new recipe is the most disgusting thing I've ever had since i first smelt tuna. It was such a waste for them to do that. Now i order from Pizza Hut or Gattis

I like tuna but Tuna Pizza sounds a bit, erm... fishy.

I'm a fairly picky pizza eater :P I like pepperoni pizza, and hawiawan (spl?) pizza (pinapple, ham, bacon). While every pizza should have some cheese on it, the less the better for me :P I reallyreally can't stand it when it's slathered in cheese. ugh!
And...that's it. I really don't like any other types/toppings for pizza. ;))

I have to come in and say that Hawaiian (with pineapple :P) is probably my favorite pizza. It didn't use to be, but somehow it's snuck up on the list. I think I like it mostly because it's lighter than most the other pizzas, and I don't end up feeling so stuffed.
The only things I really dislike on pizza are green peppers and mushrooms. I love mushrooms and green peppers are fine, but I just can't stand either of them on pizza. ;))

Home-made pizza is pretty awesome. I'll have to post some pictures of our pizzas sometime.

Has any had double-decker pizza? It is pretty much the most awesome way to eat pizza in the world. :D When my family lived in Illinois, we used to eat at a little place called Kaisers, which is where we were introduced to the double-decker idea. YUM!

You have Dominoes Pizza in the US? Weird.

Dunno if your Dominoes Pizza there is the same as the Domino's Pizza chain here, but if it is, it originated in the state of Michigan in 1960 and is one of the biggest pizza chains in the USA. (Wiki Link)

By the way, the pic of the pizza you posted up above is what comes to mind when I think of frozen pizzas in a grocery store which.... I can't say I care for very much. ;))

Anyways, onto my favorite pizzas toppings of all time.

Several years ago, Pizza Hut teamed up with K.C. Masterpiece BBQ Sauce and made a BBQ Pizza with Beef Brisket. To this day, it was the best chain pizza I have EVER eaten and I wish it wasn't a limited time pizza.

My current favorite is from a local brick oven pizzeria. It's called the Pollo Alfredo Pizza. It has Alfredo sauce, Chicken, roasted red peppers, red onion, mozzarella, provolone, and fresh basil. It is killer good. (Killer because I've been known to eat the whole thing by myself. ;) ) Note: There is no tomato sauce on this pizza!

My second favorite from the same place is their Spinaci e Aglio Pizza. It has Olive Oil, Fresh spinach, Roma tomatoes, garlic, mozzarella, provolone, and feta cheese. I'll also have them toss chicken on it too.

My third favorite is from a small mom and pop pizza place that does chicago style pizzas. (You'd like this one Warrior!) It's called The Works and it's literally an inch thick of pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms (which are actually ok on this pizza), and black olives. And of course the usual cheese and tomato sauce.
